  • is it possible to use a pentatonic scale in a chord progression if so how? or do i use the 1 3rd and 5th of the pentatonic scale? p.s i have that bass

  • pent- is from the greek work Pente; which is actually number five! Just made it easier for you! The best lesson on pentatonics so far, thanx!

  • why not play an open D? no stretching needed

  • @thebassbass well i consider it to be a stretching exercise, as well as a scale exercise - but yes it works either way :)

  • @thebassbass If one eliminates the use of open strings it makes a scale easier to transpose to another key. To a lesser degree of importance an open string has a slightly different tone than the enharmonic fretted note. I sometimes choose to play or avoid open strings based solely on the tone rather than ease of playing.

  • this vid helped, thanks

  • This was really helpful, thanks!

I've been playing bass for a while, but I really have no idea about scales and such... This is gonna come in handy, I think.
