I don't think death is funny, but I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF at this scene. I'm sorry, but something about it seemed to unbelievable and feigned. Let's analyze why I laughed. I think because the movie as a whole SUCKED CINEMATIC ASS. Excess CGI and BULLSHIT escape scenes couldn't push my sympathy buttons. The Russian guy was annoying too. Not to mention, John Cusack being the guy who saves the day (or the millenium) is about as believable as a pile of dog shit being marketed as Godiva Chocolate.

I'm sorry but if you watch a movie like this you would have to be incredibly dense not to know that this was going to happen. The only ones who will live will be a specific group of Americans (usually a couple or a family) and possibly a couple of others on the side. That's it!
