  • viatnam and afghan wars have shown...that no matter how powerfull an army is it simply cant defeat a determend army

  • You can read subtitle in the comment section:

    I have a summary:

VN: total ~ 30 aircrafts, Mig 17 (only gun 23-37mm , no missle), 500 training hours, 1000/hour aircraft speed.

    US> 1000 aircrafts, F105 (thunder bird), F4 (phantom), 3000 training hours, 1500km/hour aircraft speed,

    14/5/1967: ~ 24 aircraft US vs 4 aircraft VN.

  • bố cái thằng chính tả còn viết sai !!! out đi thằng ký sinh trùng ki

  • - 5:14 "This was the 1st time, our air fighter unit used MIG-17 to shot down 2 F-8's on 04/03/1967."

    - 5:30, "On 05/14/1967, an unit of 4 MIG-17's commanded by Lt. Vo Van Man, took off from Airport Hoa Lac, Son Tay. That was his fateful day when one of the fiercest dogfights on Hanoi sky was occurring. His unit was ordered to confront an US unit of 24 combat aircrafts from Thailand.

  • @kkbui33 I don't see US had F-8. The host should say F-5 instead of F-8

  • @kkbui33 "South Vietnam" used the F-5. US Navy (and marines too I think) used F-8 crusader.

  • Well the US lost, so of course? The US Gov sent troops to an environment they had no clue how to fight in - Getting slaughtered against men in stray hats and a rifle. Why do you think it's always this talk about "Nam vets"? - It's because they got f'd in the A by their own Gov... This war was a disgusting joke which the US lost.

  • english subtitles please!!!!

  • @atlanticl - 6:40, "At the first engagement, Man shot down the first aircraft and Hon shot down the second one. After that, Hon was shot down by an US aircraft. the remaining our 3 aircrafts tried to escape. Hai flew through cloud and landed safely. I ordered Man to escape but he said he could not because there was no way to get out. Then Man managed to make a loop and shot another US aircraft and I thinhk that one got hit.

    - 7:28, muted (I guess the storryteller described how Man died)

  • @atlanticl - 1:58-2:45 "At that time, we had only Mig-17 while the enemy had F-105 and F-4 which we called Than Sam (Thunder God) and Con Ma (Fantom). Their aircraft were armed with missiles while ours had only 23mm and 37mm machine guns. Their speed was over 1,500 Km/h while ours was around 1,000 Km/h. Their pilot flying hours was 1,500 hours while ours 500 hours. The more flying hours, the more advantage you have in air combat.

  • @atlanticl - 2:48, "In May, 1867, the good weather enabled Americans accelerated the sorties. After two rounds of attack in Hanoi and the outskirts, Long Bien Bridge and Yen Phu power plant were destroyed. The Vietnam airforce shot down 8 US aircrafts but we also suffered heavy casualties and sacrifices."

  • @kkbui33

    1967 not 1867

  • if oinly i could understand vietnamese!

  • well, we did lose the war to them, gotta give them some respect.

  • Vietnamese pilots were well-trained, unlike their Arab counterparts who brought the MiG brand name ruin.

  • @milvipes LoL plus the Serbs too during Operation Allied Force

  • @RichKilla86ers The Serbs were badly out-numbered (a single semi-operational MiG-29 vs. 4 F-16 supported by AWACS via Link 16); whereas the Arabs actually out-numbered the Israelis 3~5:1, so Arab ineptitude was magnitudes worse than Serbs'.

Of course, not all Arab air forces were that bad. Iraqi MiG-25 did reasonably well during Desert Storm, given the challenge they faced (badly out-numbered, mistmatched C4IRS support).

    1 word to say, "respect".

  • many of these North Vietnamese pilots did not know even drive a car before being fighter pilots

  • @jojojoeh yeah tgat is a fact, but their love for their country give them the courage to fly with a airplane to fight for their country.

  • You did'nt get shot down too baad! Go back up again and Fly over the nations capital.

  • viets are like "God of War" first french after american than chinese... they should respect it i think

  • maybe cunnighams plane camera in the sea holds many secrets ?? was it a mig 21.tomb toon flying.?

    terry

  • thank you.for info. it's was a mystery but was he real ??....he was a great pilot by the fight with cunningham in 72'

    terry in uk

  • there wasnt any col. tomb. he is only a image for many skilled north vietnamese pilots. tomb is even not a vietnamese name.

  • any ideas why this became common knowledge to us the folk. today like back then. and navy topguns .if he didn't exist..

    terry

  • its because a North Vietnamese MiG-21 had 13 kill markings. American military experts have believed that a single vietnamese pilot downed 13 US Aircrafts. So they named him Colonel ( High Rank ) and Toon or Tomb becauese they didnt know the name of him. But in real, the MiG-21 serial number 4326 wasnt flew from a single pilot. About 8-9 pilots flew it.

  • 4326 any ideas the aces who flew it..

was it a mig 21 cunningham says mig 17?

    terry

  • 4326 was flown by Nguyen Van Coc, Le Thanh Dao & Nguyen Ngoc Chieu. No Vietnamese MiG-17 has 13 kill markings. That aircraft that he met was a dark green MiG-17. Cunningham was suprised because that fighter pilot fought very well and that he would be a ace. but that pilot wasnt a ace. he was only a flight leader.

  • yes that was him his he dead ..in 72. this mig ace..i wiko nothing.

    terry

  • no. it was a flight leader with a dark MiG-17. Norh Vietnam had only 3 offical MiG-17 Aces at that time. The only vietnamese ace who died in combat was Dang Ngoc Ngu MiG-21PFM on the 5th July 1972.

  • he must av being a pretty good boy''' too do that Ariel maneuvers with cunningham.?

  • yes correct.

  • @terryjohn SURE thing, because no Asians can fly better than or even as good as a white boy, regardless of the migs being smaller and faster and harder to hit. Anyway, congratulations on winning the Vietnam war, wait, America lost.... XD

  • @imnazhole yes they did but very brave men lost both sides

    terry

  • the first time i read about him was 1975 in aces high book.Xmas....there's colored painting showing him fighting a phamtom

    but flying a mig 21.

  • i d like to understand what video says.. could you put subtitle? greetings from turkey

  • yeah i would like it as it givrs me a insight to veitnams aces that much i do not know much off. only ww2 an 1.

    terry

  • khong quan CHXHCNVN bach chien-bach thang

  • It always interesting to hear from the other side. I always admired the courage those from the North demonstrated when faced with us head-on and out gunned as they were.

    Mike P.

    Allen, Texas

  • well its the man not the machine ..mig pilots were the best in my fields. with cannons no rockets.

    tj

  • @173rdAbn6970

When you're fighting for your own country and homes against foreign invaders you always find unbelievable motivation to keep fighting against even the most well equipped enemy.

It has been proven time and time again throughout history. One example is the American liberation war in which a small band of "colonists" took on the might of the British Empire, which at the time was the dominant naval and colonial superpower.

  • salute to the brave vietnam people's army air force !

  • Cho sub english cho ng` nc khác dễ hiểu đi bác :)

  • col Tomb ?

  • La No++e checking in with my friend Hippie Hoskins~+~+~*

  • :-)

  • Thank VNMIG

  • khong co gi :)

  • Somebody can ad som subtitles? seem to be great to have information about NVAF aces, americans only speak about themselves, here you are the true heroes defending homeland from foering invaders, as any decent nation would have done.

  • the documentary tells us that the Vietnam Peoples Air Force is facing the most powerful Air Force in the world. The Vietnam Peoples Air Force was just created but is ready to fight. They won the first battle (3.4.1965). Two MiG-17 from Pham Ngoc Lan and Phan Van Tuc were able to shoot down 2 F-8 from the US Air Force/Navy.

There are some Interviews with North Vietnamese pilots example Nguyen Van Bay. Modern Aircraft cant defeat the better pilots.

  • I got decent English ability. If you need help, I would like to provide the subtitle, you just have to add in your video. How's that?

  • Thanks for the precious info, but it'd be nice to have subtitles. I'd really like to take a look. :-)

  • tuyet voi =)

  • xin chao viet nam video thim phu .D
