  • DIMI MINT is older than ooleya but both women are frankly top vocalist of their respective generations. when she was on top of of vocal maturity dimi mint had many suprising and refine vocal feast. they are both in a unique ligue. their cds are very expensive in europe also..

  • Do you know if Tahra is still around?

  • I'd love to know what the words mean. I love her attitude and charm.

  • cultural mixage is very important for every creative society. The unique traditional style in this case is what mauritania is in it old form. this classic praise songs can easily disapair in the midst of egyptiens and westerns pop imitation. it just felt good to see new generation of great singers are still practising the art form.this style of music is about identity, and the chance to look back in order to undestand the present. my intention was never to offended you!

  • I liked Dimi Mint Abba and want to get the CD again Moorish music from Mauritania, but its over a 100 dollars now. i hope we can get this young woman's songs somewhere - although it looks from some of her other videos as if she is now a middle aged woman now.

  • she is the best vocalist. the purity of mauritanien traditional style hasn't been corrupted yet by the egyptien music, which many artist often strive to imitate and lose touch with the pure traditional mauritanien style. I hope she stayed true to this traditional style..

  • Is this a common phenomenon? What other artists from this country (or others) might you recommend that have escaped this 'corruption'.

  • zeien 7attah,

For Mr lopezpinon i am ready to explain that for you.

  • she is fantastic. I'm trying to get a Mauritanain friend of mine to translate her texts. Mainly it's about love of course, and famous Mauritanian poets, he explains to me

  • these Ooleya videos are fantastic. When I did my thesis on Mauritanian music I had to travel 100s of miles to find recordings, and even then it was limited. The world is so much closer now. Thank you for sharing this video. If you like this video, her CD is not to hard to find if you look, and it is spectacular. Sounds just like this. no production tricks.
