@YouthTeachB Man, I totally support you. I, too, am a male preschool teacher and I have worked at the same preschool for six years, and am working on a early childhood degree. I struggled with my thoughts of what people would think and kept changing my majors in college. I finally decided that this is what God called me to do. There will always be those parents that give you strange looks at first, but once they get to know you they will learn to love you. I wish you the best of luck.

I am studying Early Childhood Education and I am an African American Male. I plan to teach kindergarten or 1st grade. We def. need more male teachers in our school. Especially minority teachers. With the growing amount of Spanish speaking students we need more Latino males in our classrooms(Latino males represent the smallest number of teachers in the field.)

The pay is the same as high school level; Many males do not know this, so they tend to pursue teaching upper levels.

Most importantly, minority males are needed in lower grades so that they can be early role models to kiddos at that age.
