Its funny, i have listen to this song on this link from when it got oploaded, But for the last year, I couldn´t finde it. It didn´t show up when i search! An iam wondering why theres only 32425 veiws, its the only orginal on youtube!!? Why´s that? Anyone?
I always thought I was the only one who loved this song (epic poetry in your bleeping face) and Street Legal in general. Apparently there are plenty of you out there.
My odd memory this song brings me is going back to when I was about 18 I worked part time in a shop where I was made rather miserable by the management. Whenever my dad came to pick me up at the end of the day he had a Dylan's greatest hits collection on (forget title of it now) and this was usually playing. Relief of leaving that place to this song was magic!
A great song, in my opinion. For once in a while, Mister Dylan tries ( successfully, 'cause I like it mucuh) to sing a rock song, which is as personnal than the rests of his best song. Anyway, I wouldn't write nothing, in case to critisize the atist!
The fact that this is a lyric that goes nowhere and has absolutely nothing to say - if you disagraa, write out a meaningfull analysis - apparently doessn't bother a nomber of people to declare this a masterpiece? Infantile rubbish this is.
@DrBenway83 i guess this is what an ignorant person would say. instead of calling it rubbish you could try to imagine what he wanted to say with the lyrics, let your inspiration flow and give it your own personal meaning. that is, after all, what poetry is about.
@MsDoubleChoc First of all I must apologise for my typos - what a mess they make! A part from that I stick to the original meaning of my message: it's an exercise in putting words and images one after the other. It sounds as if it actually means something but it doesn't. Dramatically over-rated if you ask me.
@DrBenway83 just to explain my point of view: for me sometimes lyrics (or whatever text) don't make sense at first sight but if you read it again and again maybe you will find aspects you didn't even notice at first. of course, if you just don't like this song, there will be no chance to try this :-) and sorry for calling you ignorant btw
@MsDoubleChoc Don't be bother by it: when I read a text with that many typos, I'm also inclined to call in doubt the intellectual capacities of its writer. But I still don't think much of the lyric and obviously won't be bothered to think about it until some time meaning miraculously emerges from it. I'd even say there's a good chance that that's rather a process of seeing meaning into the lyric than getting meaning from it. It's elaborate smoke screen. To me, that is. By all means: enjoy! :-)
ok....... when i listen to music i listen to about 75 percent dylan and 25 percent old 60s 70s and 80s punk and thrash metal and random experimental, country, folk and rock. i mean, shit i was just listening to samhain - the shift which got me ready for a drunken bloody brawl but somehow this song brings me to tears everytime i hear it. it might be my favorite dylan song (this week)!
Gentlemen I said: Dylan's vocal delivery of this masterpeice is fanastic - so direct and "in your face". He's dramatic and direct delivering a song that people cannot relate to (understanding as to why), by his design I'm sure. And Eden is burning - but Peace Will Come.
yeah. just sixteen years from the mystery point to banners united. The blood from those 100 pound hailstones on that army will wash away mountains. Out there in the Plains of Megiddo; ar megidan.
upon riding past destruction in ditches, don't toss u'r cookies...
That's the born-again rabbi Robert Zimmerman prophesying. It's about the Antichrist destroying the international city system; the Devil destroys his own whore. The Captain would have gathered them as a chicken gathers it's chicks but they refused.
The field where the Good Shepherd grieves are the plains of Megiddo in Israel: Armageddon.
Cruel death is the last to be defeated; his pale ghost retreating between the king and the queen of swords: The Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst ...

Una de las canciones más oníricas del maestro. Cuando pienso que quiere decir una cosa, acto seguido pienso que dice algo diferente.
Entre las canciones que más me gusta escuchar sin duda alguna.
