  • Is that really Jerry Nelson at 0:28?

  • This is such a beautiful song, this and the satellite robot toy one were my all time fav video clips from sesame street, I adore Sesame Street and shudder to think how dull my life would've been without this and playschool!! <3

  • omg i sooooo remember this! #Childhood

  • I have this on VHS somwhere lol

  • Do you have Episode 0813, Scene 6 when "Luis walks through his old childhood haunts, singing a sentimental song about his memories of this special place"? I would really appreciate if you could post it if it is in your archives.

  • 0:41 Fierce cat!

  • @zyber9 alejandra: i suck mathboys cock yessenia sucks daves ...cotorra sleeps with horses and fucks them oooooo yessenia farted from meatballs and corn

  • If I'm going to fall asleep, it sure would not be in a wooden chair reading anything.

  • Was that really Jerry Nelson from 0:28-0:31, and was that his real home and real family?

  • I've slept many, many nights since I've last seen this. Thanks

  • Zo leuk! In Nederland draaide deze ook.

Also known in the Netherlands on Sesame Street (the dutch version)

  • At the end how can someone sleep with an oncoming train passing by?

  • @adamssean6494 I once lived in a neighborhood that had a railroad running right behind it... you get used to it after so long.

  • @GroverKent I lived in an apartment complex in one of the two apartments closest to a railroad crossing for a track that Amtrak trains roared down. I only lived there a year and I never got used to it. Amtrak trains are LOUD when they go by!!! The slower, longer freight trains weren't much quieter either.

  • 1970 I think.

  • everybody has teats

  • At 1:20 that's a weird and dangerous way to sleep in a noodle with a magazine over your face.

  • i love this clip but i notice now that some of these people are sleeping in some pretty dangerous places!! hahaha ... good memories!!!!

  • We had a Sesame Street video that was about betime, and this song was on it, but the clips included astronauts sleeping in outer space. They were in tethered sleeping bags, had eye masks on, and their arms floated above their bodies. It was fun to see, but the tape wore out and broke, and I haven't seen it since.

  • I feel so blessed that you posted this vintage 1971 Sesame Street clip. I cannot tell you what fond memories this brings back for me. Thank you!

  • I loved that when I was a child. I loved the everybody eats video too.

  • Im not everybody >:)

  • this and everybody eats,, soothes my sense of hearing when i was a kid. u can catch me singin or hummin this tune every now and then.

  • I cried when I saw this. So many memories...

  • @darla620 I totally understand that reaction…Sesame Street entertained and educated while creating a sense of well-being for children the world over. My brothers, childhood friends and I were all in love with this show and these clips still make me smile.

  • What i love about SS is that it ALWAYS showed NYC and inner cities around the world in a different light. This is the NYC that I remember growing up. And I am only 30 years old lol

  • This song is why i loved naptime as a kid.

  • everybody sleeps... except college students.

  • A classic from the the late Joe Raposo. Can anyone tell me if YouTube has the funny face clip? Joe sings "Funny Face" while a baboon or something flicks his eyes and then treats us to a real toothy grin and open mouth. I remember that scared the crap out of my little brother.

  • At 0.45 that would scare the shit out of me to sleep that high up not harnesed in

  • @mikey7619 I know right :)

  • I been so missing this song for a long long time,,, brings back my childhood days , my first teacher,, sesame street.. cooperation..

  • This is my Sesame Street I remember. As soon as Elmo arrived it got gay quick.

  • Oh my God I remember this like it was yesterday! I'm 43 and being a kid in the 70's was the best. Those were the best years of my life. This and Mr. Rogers were a staple in my home. And yes the car seat in this video is classic! How I miss growing up in NY in the 70's!

  • At 42, this was my favorite as a kid. Please make sure you spot the car seat. As a child we didn't understand why they had a high chair in the car? We had no idea what a car-seat was! I am finally putting that mystery to bed. I can't believe my eyes! It was a car seat!!! Lol

  • @toomark Yeah, and just look at how the kid isn't really strapped in either. One sudden stop and his (or is it a her) chest is right into that bar. Wow!

  • This is a very relaxing song lol

  • wow,i remember watching this wen i was a kid,and even searched for this vid on youtube ages ago, glad someone else remembers it and uploaded,it lol, song used to make me feel so relaxed wen i heard it as a kid

  • Wonderful memories! I used to love this clip as a little girl because I had a similar car seat, lol. I also loved how they showed couples sleeping in the bed together. It was shown as normal & natural. :)

  • @maeveangel If they redid this, maybe they'll show a couple spooning, and the covers down just enough to show they're naked. :-P

  • I know that there is a different one instead of a man yawning in a chair, there are astronauts sleeping in the space shuttle.

  • Wow!!!!!! I havent heard this in YEARS!!!!!!!!! Thx for posting this.

  • is that jim henson tossing and turning like that?

  • Sounds just like the song "Everybody Eats'! (also from Sesame Street)

  • they don't make them like this anymore

  • they don't them like this anymore

  • Yes I agree. I love the internet, especially Youtube for letting me see all the things from the good old days.

  • Damn, if this ain't throwback material I do not know what is. Man know I miss my Bert & Ernie alarm clock. If I've said it once I've said it a million times....you gotta love the internet...if nothing else for these little walks down memory lane.

  • During the 1:09-1:17 mark, the guy in the chair does look a little bit like John Lennon. I don't know for sure if it was him or not. Why the hell did he fall off the chair? Maybe he had too much to drink.

  • @JeffK1980 You know what? HE ACTUALLY DOES LOOK LIKE HIM! Yeah, I agree that he drank!! LOL

  • *yawn*

  • Sleep! What a ubiquitous phenomenon!!!!

  • god how i miss the old days these were the best days of sesame street thank you for posting these wonderful videos just beautiful

  • i sleep all the time

  • when i was child i loved watching sesame streets bedtime stories and songs and this song just reminds me how many places i have sleptedin bed, on a chair, and the great outdoors

  • Memoriesssssss I would always remeber this one episode in sesame street i was watching it while gettin ready for elementary school back in the days and i was sooo sleepy that morning an some how this came on and i just kept sayin to myself " They look so comfy in bed while i gota go to school" Lol Memories are forever!

  • love this song, I've got the MP3, very cool.

  • When I was a kid, I used to think it was John Lennon @ 1:12. Why is John Lennon on Sesame Street?

  • Goes to show what Sesame Street does to you.....I haven't heard this song in 25 years, but sang it like I heard it yesterday!

  • I like the one where the guy fell off the chair.

  • This takes me back to about 4 or 5 years old. I learned a LOT from sesame street and kicked butt in Kindergarten 1973. xx

  • I can't find Joe Raposo's Run song anymore... Did something happen?

  • Everybody was sleeping in a different spot. Some were sleeping while taking a break from their job. Some people sleep on a hammock on their porch. They should've shown that. Everybody sleeps in a different spot at different times.

  • I always got sleepy watching this!

  • WOW! I so remember this when I was a little kid! So neat, thanks for the post!!!

  • Pure Raposo classic. Watching this clip is making me sleepy.

  • Oh man I remember this!!

  • I must have seen a more updated one in the later 80s but I remember some of the clips, and the baby in the car.I used to think he was driving and got confused :P

  • Is that Jim Henson sleeping at 0:28? That would be cool.

  • @revmccance It's actually Jerry Nelson and his wife.

  • I've never been in the 70s but from the picture's I see and movies clips and songs, I feel as though I was there and that for some reason that I will go in a place in time like the 70s because that time period was my home. Its sorta confusing (^-^)a but thats how I feel.

  • @tinpax1

I understand how you feel, i true 70's kid born in 1970 saw all the changes - we played outside in the sun, watched less TV compared to now, made our own games from simple things like a game with a tin can , hop scotch, tag e.t.c LIfe was more laid back, no pressure to be in the cool crowd on facebook lol! Sucks to be a kid now I dont care for all the technology.

  • Thanks for posting! Brought back good memories when I really could sleep!!! No problems whatsoever!!! lol.......

  • EVERYBODY could sleep in the 70s.....now we need medication to snooze.

  • For something so simple, this is really funny!

  • That is so good!

  • this still puts me to sleep :)

  • lol the very beginning he rolls all around and she doesn't move hardly at all

  • Woww. This brings back soo many good memories. Thank you for posting!!

  • Funny how they changed a bit of the song. "All animals and people.Every day of the week." In the new one "Mounteniers on mountin tops and divers in the deeps." Maybe they changed it because they found out that "creeps" does not sound the same as "week".

  • Can someone please repost The following Classic old school Joe raposo skits...."flying" "Bridges", "Cornfield", "Weave, little weaver bird". They we removed.

  • Omg I used to love it!

  • Get a load of that old car seat. We had one of those, it just fot over the back of the seat LOL.

And I love seeing all the old cars through the window of that bus

Sesame Street now is just a little bit of fluff and an infomercial for Elmo for the last 20 minutes. I think Jim Henson would be disappointed

  • *yawns* Good night, everyone.

  • The man at 0:47 looks like Jerry Lee Lewis?

Is that John Lennon at 1:09?

  • @halcaannen I used to think it was John Lennon, too! Anyone know who it really was?

  • that definitely does look like Lennon falling out of the chair.

  • *sigh of contentment

  • Here it is. Now I have both versions on my playlist.

  • I think I had this on tape.

  • Guy in the pool is going to wake up to a nasty sunburn

  • Sesame street back then was sooo Relaxing and educational just by these little songs...... the version showing now is crap to me...they dont even count past 25 anymore :-S I LOVE THE OLD ONE :-)

  • Some cute bits in this!

  • Going back to Sesame Street is so relaxing.

  • Thank you very much for posting this! I grew up with these classic Sesame Street segments!

  • My favorite scene is the train at the end! That is a General Electric E44 built for the Pennsylvania Railroad!

  • Awesome! I always wondered that was...having grown up in the West and have never visited the East Coast. :)

  • thats tommy chong falling out of the seat

  • Good to be a man.

  • the man who fell off his chair dozing off is definately NOT John.

  • ah memories!

  • Everybody sleeps...but me. That's why I'm up at 3:00 a.m. watching these fantastic old clips that take me back in time, lol. Bless YouTube and bless vintage Sesame Street!

  • @jenzeppelin , ha!ha! me too it's 430 am can't sleep.

  • @jenzeppelin Same here.

  • Oh I love this version because it seemed so natural. I don't know how they caught so man people sleeping like than on film? Most genuinely so.

Still LOL at the hippie guy who fell asleep off his chair at 1:10 !

  • I think that is John Lennon haha. Where was Yoko?

  • This would be the perfect lullaby :)

  • What happened to Mr. Raposo, is he still writing songs? My 2 year old son gets to listen to this at least once a week (and I get to also)

  • Unfortunately, he died in 1989.

  • I love this one and I was thinking about it the other day! Haven't seen this in years, so thank you!!! This was a favorite of mine! Hmm... kind of ironic that I'm watching this at 2:30 in the morning when I SHOULD be sleeping! LOL

  • My favorite Joe Raposo tune (so mellow and relaxing) and always loved the sleeping version (eating is pretty good too!) of the song. At 1:00 of the video, with the overhead of the kid sleeping, I used to have the same exact sheet set on my bed when I was about seven or eight!

  • FORTHY WINKS.....

  • yeah totally isn't that crazy that my Grandfather starred in a Sesame Street Video cause I knew why because Mom told me after watching this clip on Bedtime Stories and Songs on VHS when I was a youngun.

  • I had that same VHS!

  • dude My Grandfather's in this video. he was sleeping on his way back home to boston from a business trip.

  • that's awesome!

  • ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • wow, I can't believe I still remember this, sure brings back memories :)

  • The camel kills me

  • :40 If the economy keeps going downhill, we'll all be sleeping in a van.

:46 Imagine if he rolled over in his sleep.

:58 What the hell is in that hobo's pants?

1:02 Did the parents have to sign a release called "Camera man filming you son"?

1:11 Even Jim Morrison sleeps........and passes out!

1:28 Must have been before the "Put baby on its back" to prevent SIDS days.

It would have been funny if someone woke up and saw this entire film crew in their bedroom and started freaking out!

  • @dcsmooth Dude, 0:58 that's not his pants, it's a sleeping bag.

  • For some reson of all of the sesame street I remember... this one always stuck out in my head. Thanks for postin a true trip down memory lane:)

  • omg...you too?!?

everytime I get sleepy this songs plays in my head!

    x

  • zOMG! me too! :-)

  • I cannot believe I'm watching this! I forgot this existed. what memories! omg!!

  • Wow my favorite song from the past, yeah John Lennon did fall off of the chair infact Mom told me that when I was 7 years old watching Bedtime Stories and Songs on vhs over and over and over again infact I still love this song plus I thought I saw Maria sleeping naked in that film after John Lennon fell out of the chair also, but I may be wrong but I think it might've been so again thanks for taking me back to memory lane and keep on postin'

  • Holy shizzle! Blast from the past . . I haven't seen this in probably 25 years or so . . .

  • I miss those days.

  • That guy in the last shot must have really been tired.

  • Now this is one of the great Sesame classics. I always loved it. I didn't realize that the sleeping couple in the first shot were the same as were used in other shots.

As for the man sleeping on a high beam, I'm guessing he's probably a professional construction worker. I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

  • Well, Joe did say that he was a light sleeper.

  • I remember this. Joe Raposo's classic songs were one of the best things about Sesame Street.

  • OMG! man, I remember this piece. it makes you all tingly inside bcuz you can think back as a kid - maybe it's just me, but when I was a kid the weather now wasn't so messed up - our summers were sunny, clear and windy all the time and the perfect warmness - makes me MAD about everything that's going on now-the jacked up economy, the foreclosures, the sick society, and the dang analysts who want to be right! But when I see these videos from my childhood it all goes away for a few minutes.

  • I agree....I just want to go back 18 years and relive it :)

  • This really brought back tons of great memories! I felt childish again for those few moments. My favorite part is the guy sleeping on the I beam. what a nut! I cant believe I remembered that! I'm almost 30, where did time go?!

  • 0:43-0:47, looks really dangerous.

  • So does the man sleeping in the pool

  • I think this was from season 4 (1972-73), not the first season. The cars on the street as the man was sleeping on a MTA Bus in New York was the dead giveaway.

  • OMG! I remember this song from when I was a kid! I used to LOOOOVE Sesame Street....and I still love it and I'm almost 30! LOL!!

  • Wow, I'm surprised that guy was able to stay asleep even with a freight train passing by! The freight trains I've heard passing through my town make so much noise (the loud clicking wheels, the squealing brakes, the horn sounding at the railway crossings) it'd even snap you out of a trance! But the commuter trains that pass through my town, on the other hand, don't make as much noise.

  • I love this. The hippie falling out of the chair is just classic and hilarious.

I remember looking at some of the people and thinking "now how could anyone sleep that way? Wouldn't the anxiety/noise keep you up?"

The funny part is that I've become one of those people who could sleep through a tornado. If they make a third version, they can come here for footage of me grumbling at the alarm clock and ignoring four wakeup calls before giving in and getting up, though it's not as peaceful. ;)

  • watchin this made me emotionally bcuz i remember this like it was yesterday and ive grown up so fast, i have to make the good times last

  • everybody sleeps

  • I still sing this song as of today..lol

    -kurbster

  • lol..wow i remember this song i was a sesame street junkie as a little girl..lol i love this song :)

    peace and love

    joanie

  • Omg...I like literally fell asleep on this computor listening to this.

reminds me as a child my mom use to put this video with this song in it and I would be asleep as soon as it was over...things haven't changed I guess! lol

  • I love it when the man falls out of his chair and onto the floor! That's so funny!

  • LOL gotta love the hippie van

  • Everybody Eats, Everybody Sleeps! Same tune, different lyrics, yet two of the many Raposo memories that come back to me and make me feel a quarter-century younger!

  • one of my favs the workman theres no way... i would fall for sure

  • That kid in the car seat has got it made.

  • oh, nostalgia...

  • this guy's voice is so amazingly nostalgicaly soothing...heaven for me will be everyone talking in Raposo's warmbath, soulful, sing-song croon...sigh!

  • Most wonderful soporific ever. Thank you for posting this.

(Yeah, I often think of this song/video when I can't sleep. Amazing how many people remember this, too...)

  • 48626 people right now. i have been looking for this song for years.

  • OMG I used to watch this like a mo-fo

  • hah im in the same boat as you. I saw it on a vhs my family had with big bird and that wooly mammoth bringing back memories

  • For some reason, this songs makes me sleepy and sad, cause the last time I heard it was 16 years ago.

  • Reminds me when I was 5

  • the guy who falls off the chair is really funny!

  • the memories

  • This brings back so many memories! I remember driving my family crazy by singing this song.

  • raven: I remember too...i was in elementary school singing this like a mad man. it kept coming on sesame street. i'm not that old....lol

  • dude wow!

i remember watching this when i was like 5 and 6 years old...im 20 now. its crazy because i remember this like yesterday...i miss being that young, wow!

  • I have been going back to the old Sesame Street film ci\lips on youtube, and I was hoping to find this. Thank you for uploading this. Brings back some old but pleasant memories. Kids these days are missing out on the good stuff of what we use to watch on t.v.

  • ahhh nostalgic feelings of childhood at my old house

  • thanks so much for posting this!!

  • i love this song and everbody eats where is the video about the numbers in park with slow music like this

  • what about the guy sleeping in the pool!!!!

  • As long as he wakes up and can swim, he'll be fine. The 90's remake had a girl sleeping in the pool.

  • YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! To this day. Everytime I'm sleepy somewhere away from my bed or anywhere I can sleep I think of this song...

  • This song still makes me sleepy, I LOVE IT!!!
