people remember Cat Stevens fondly as the singer of "Peace Train" "Moonshadow" songs of love and peace in the 1970s and early 1980s. It is hard to equate Cat Stevens with Yusef Islam, while still an artist of considerable talent, wants to kill people out of religious frenzy not just Salman Rushdie but Cat said that he is agreeable to stoning women to death for adultery.
That has no doubt broken the hearts of millions of women

1st album my father bought me was Cat Stevens (early 70's) My dad moved to become a Buddhist in Thai/Burma. (My family thought he was nuts and only I found him "brave".) I lost him for years and then he answered a song from Yusuf Islam that I sent him. (Because he remembered the 1st Cat Stevens album and that I understood him "going away".) I don't care what his name is or what his God is, as an Atheist I love him and thank him for helping me find my Father. I love this man and this song.xo

@daisypeachy you should read into his message a little deeper. Being athiest is your choice and im not here to sway or influence. But its not really an answer to our purpose. Its more sweeping your thoughts and feelings under the rug. We have a purpose in everything we do except our lives... does that make sense? Islam gives you a purpose. He gave it ALL UP for the sake of this religion. Unique? there are 1000s like him in Islam.
