If you stop at 3 you miss out on a difference of 4k-5k damage from the next one plus another damage bonus for arcane missiles. If you go for 5 you end up using 3000 mana to cast it (the mana cost increases by 150% [i think] each time).

Lol after new patchu cant spam Arcane Blast it increases dmg it deals but also mana required. U can get rid of this buff by casting a Different spell or letting the 3 sec run down...

LOL mage is probably the easiest class to do alot of dps and damage with, all he is doing is, arcane blast x4 looking if missile barrage has poped and then arcane missiles, if missile barrage does not pop he will continue to use arcane blast untill it does

@deathjrll i believe that's the way you understand about how mages dps, but we need to keep on eye on CD of precense of mind and arcane power too so we can keep using them to increase our dps. also when using arcane spec, we make macros to cast mirror image and ice vein together and they both have CDs. if you wanna play a mage well and make an impressive dps, it's not easy either.

@ethusiasm Deathjrll was correct, mages are more or less the easiest class to play, especially arcane, and yes, there are little things top mages can do to go over the top but it's simple to figure out. But then again, everything related to PvE is easy, so yeah. It all depends how you define easy.
