I can't understand what this video is about... I've been working on Macs since the 90's and i've never been let down. I have friends that have switched from PC to Macs in an instant... It was a bit difficult for them but they adjusted in about 5-6 days max. The point of my comment is that my wife does that window and app switching on her "old" dual G5 as if nothing happened... so once again, what is the ownage part about? We've never had Pentium D CPUs on Macs. What the heck is this all about?

o yeah pentium D ownage 4 months ago i was using that with windows vista ultimate and with 2 GB of ram and it RAN WAY BETTER THAN THE STUPID MAC OF MY FATHER now i am using a brand new quad core2duo o yeah now is even fucking better mac sucks but ill admit LINUX owned windows damit :(

Also you miss the point, the machine was already old then anyway, the point was that the old machine did (at that time) still beat the mac.

my builded my pc with pentium dc e5300 back to late 2007 and it is out perform any pentium d series atleast twice!! even to pentium extreme edition 3.83ghz(with hyper thread) it still gain upper hand by roughly 38%.

and pentium dual core e5300 only cost $139 while pentium extreme edition 975 still cost $540 in 2007.

This is a very old Pentium D, it was old when the video was made. I built the machine around the time Pentium D first came out. If you are on a PC, why are you even bothering to argue with me? You should be on the same side as I am.

the oldest pentium d came out in early 2006 (820), therefore your pentium d is low price range which came up in december 2006 just 2 months before pentium dc came out. soon after all netburst product line soddenly goes dead because pentium core actually out perform any pentium d in every benchmark which forced intel to shut it down.

PS: pentium d and pentium EE were focus on mid/high end market along with core 2 while pentium dc was in mid range-main stream market and it beats pentium d/ee.

Nope, i built it in 2005. That's when these processors were first made, maybe you are thinking of the "retail" versions.

I benchmarked it and uploaded my score on Passmark some time ago, so i could tell you what the file was for that if you wanted. It was just nipping the toes of a Core² (Cant remember which).

I still don't know why it is such an issue to you though.

well it was a huge issue since i was a victim of that series. i used to owned a pentium d 805 with intel 945chipset/1gb ddr2 533 + geforce 7600gs 256mb back to early 2007 which i spent more than $699. therefore the processor always gone overheated and eating power (150w) like starving kid from siberia or refugee from africa. air cooling only able kept it in 75c and gone overheat of 105c when full loaded.

and so is the benchmark it didn't even show its "699" value compare to pentium e5300

core 2 and pentium dual core were just dual core version of pentium m that supported 64bit. it came out the same time as pentium d series whom use proscott core from netburst architect in december 2005.(oem version, retail version was around mid 2006 but soon shutdown in 2007 due to core's superior architect and lower cost. )

PS: many magazine in 2004 gave more credit on pentium m than pentium which core is superior than netburst.

A mac fan said his mac could multitask better than any PC, so i got this old pc with it's ancient netburst microarchitecture to proove that even older and slower PCs could outperform his mac - and presumable any mac at that time, which it did.

well sorry for the attitude earlier. in fact i just had the hatred on pentium d series that's all. i did mean to against you just let you know.

actually netburst wasn't an old timer, it's just too ahead of its time, like core/p6 back in 1993 which result of low performance/high cost. compare to amd phenom II's pro mature p5 achitect. it still had the potential. only if it can reduce the cost/and heat, egergy issue...

Rofl yah the unix i cant believe apple is running on that kernal when u can get it free on linux. It just shows you that apple charge u for an operating system which should be free oh well they have to ripp someone off dont they.

I also dont understand why mac users bash pc's so much when most of them run bootcamp in the background to get microsoft software running on there machines OUCH.

Actually its windows whistler not 2000 if you look closely. And windows whistler is basically windows vista !!u know why!! because its a beta version of xp, and xp is the new Microsoft o.s with the trimmings took off. It runs on the same file system NT which i do want Microsoft to get rid off but non the less if the new O.S use the same type of file system there isn't much difference between them really.

I also would like to say im on linux by the way.

Thanks for backing me up mickyasus (mickybyte) - ya, just like all Mac is on the 1980's UNIX kernel, Windows NT and up all use the same "Windows NT" system from the early 1990's, emeek77, you ran 70 programs with dead windows (explorer), I ran 157 programs - internet, benchmarks and a game at the same time, the software is modern, but the hardware is crappy (512Mb ram, nV7200 VGA) and it still owned mac, you is a sore looser emeek!

Mickybyte, remember I got 97 programs on your PC! Do a video!

Oh, and remember emeek77, I could even own you with my P2, K5 or even my first PC, the IBM 386 on Windows 3.1. Even MS-DOS 4.01 will multitask better than a Mac (See how many TSR's it'll run!) - I once used Minix too, good, but it used the UNIX like mac, so I don't know if I like it anymore.

It looks a bit "Windows Cairo" or as the released versions "Windows 95" because it was in a lower resolution "1024x768" with the fonts at 200Dpi so it was clearer on the video (My recording equipment is a bit screwed). I admit MS sux a bit, but the kernels (Even on 95) are newer than mac! I'm getting Windows Vienna BETA soon anyway!
