david gilmour reminds me of lou gramm. both men have carried their band through all the major hits that someone else got the credit for. pink floyd is always thought of as roger waters when dave and rick wrote the music portion of the songs roger brought in demo form. lou wrote foreigners hits along with mick jones. not just mick jones. and both bands where started by the lyrisist but carried by the vocalist and in this care, the lead guitarist.

This is one of my favorite versions of this beautiful song. Love it !! True, it doesn't have quite the same feel as the version from the sixties, but it's still very very good! I think of this as a great artist's alternate rendition of one of his original pieces, and as such, it stands on it's own as a great piece. Also, some people may not notice, but Steve is a really good drummer, one of a kind in my opinion when it comes to capturing the 'correct' Pink Floyd feel on the drums.

Gilmour's voice sounding beautiful, though I prefer the drawn out wavering notes he did in the 60's/70's, to the curtailed ends of phrases he has done since the 80's. He's focusing more on his craft in live performances now, but has lost a bit of the gentle balladier, which I loved so much. Lovely, clear recording, thanks.
