I've owned a red eared slider as a beginning turtle and their tanks are quite hard to keep clean if you have not had experience with reptile/amphibian aquariums or environments. I'd say get a small tortoise instead.

red eared slider is not a good beginner turtle unless you can provide a huge tank or outdoor pond . try a painted turtle instead they don't get as big or a map turtle. also mud or musk turtles don't get real big .

I have a yellow spotted amazon podoc river turtle and sometimes the room temp drops below 60 degrees F ( winter time ). I am using a 75 watt UVA + UVB bulb and I turn on the inferred bulb at night. Is dat gud enough to keep the air temp warm????
