@RhiannaMidori Most of that has to do with size. Tarantulas of different species are ready to breed at various sizes. In the case of the smithi 5 to 5.5 inches is the size that did well for me.

No it is not. Brachypelma males are known to be big wimps. Some mature and never man up and mate. So with some help sometimes they get the deed done. Once they get the job done once they tend to become studs and mate with other females no problem.

I have been keeping tarantulas about 18 years. Breeding for a long time too. Last year had 21 egg sacs, year before that over 30. I do know what I am talking about, and many many people know me in the hobby.

He's a cute, goofy male. Im glad that went well for them. Its hard to find mature, new worlds at affordable prices. Yes there are some of the run of the mill ones like pink toes, and curly hairs. B. smithi's are expensive as hell as adults, especially the females. I know my girl, a smithi, would burn a hole in my pocket if I could find one her size today. They are rare. I've had mine for almost 13 years. She is 6" Took long enough to get her that big from 3.5" lol

I have three bred females right now. Two of which gave me sacs this past spring. Two sacs totaling 2138 baby slings!

Holy 2138 slings!!! That's intense. Unfortunately, it's going to take a couple of years for me to mate both the aureostriata and the T.gigas. Out of my 35 Ts I keep, those are the only 2 types that I can attempt to breed. All the rest are single species females.
