  • merck has done somethings. no other corp. has done nothing.

  • So many nerds To bully so few time!

  • @MrMaximusi You can try. But we're unionized now.

  • we had nerd day in school..lol..the nerds went to nerds to Ultra-nerds by wearing star wars costumes

  • ......... I missed this?

I am so mad I only became a nerdfighter recently. MY HOMETOWN! MY HOMETOWN!!!!! T.T

  • @PiphALaMode I'm going back and watching old videos. I saw your comment, if you are still a nerdfighter you should go to Vidcon! It will be the most fun you ever had and sorry you missed the day in the video, it was a great time too. But go to Vidcon!

  • Lol that was awesome! And I love how they were singing bout Harry Potter - made my day!

  • very cool

  • All the nerd fighters are.... female. Not that I'm disappointed that they too can be primarily composed of awesome I just find it strange that there aren't any Nerd fighting bros.

  • Yeah, I've seen a handful of guys, but we seem to be the minority in Nerd Fighteria. Given, John writes YA fiction from the PoV of a female character, but that shouldn't prevent guys from enjoying them, and being active in the community.

  • im a little confused at the opening game thing

  • Where everyone was in a circle? It's like you go around a circle while everyone sings a song - and than you pick someone to switch places with and than that person goes around in the circle. It's more of a song than a game I s'pose..

  • ya i used to do it all the time in cheerleading

  • 2:42 ahaha I love how Hank jumps.

  • This is awesome! Now I can relive that day over and over!! Nerdfighters helping to decrease world suck...

  • I love Texas.

  • awesome mate!

  • LOVE THIS! lol

  • :)

    I still love this video!

  • Wow. I loved you're speech, it's definitely true. John's writing totally captures you're attention. *subscribes*

  • Thanks for subscribing! <3

  • You bring joy and that is an awesome gift to be cherished.

  • just beautiful :)

  • Ahhh this was amazing!

  • Fighting? Fighting Nerds? Tour de...? writers interacting with readers?

OK, got it. Can the Sawal Kameej be brought to others that define cool? Can Bangladesh find a nerd or an author (or another Bono) to share the sawal kameej with the rest of the world?

  • wtf,,, people got easily bored nowadays

  • thank you so much for all you're doing. i told you in plano, but i thought i'd tell you again. you're awesome.

    nerdfighter chelsea from texas

  • we love you. I'm looking forward to see your next few videos

  • boys go to college to get more knowlege

  • i love this videos

  • You put that so well, the whole it feels like a friend is telling me a story. Also I like John's books because his characters are relate able. I remember reading things in high school too and the characters never seemed like they were from the same time in history as I was. All the great novels like The Outsiders and Catcher in the Rye fifties and so on, his books are based on how kids are today. Much more able to connect. BTW you are doing something amazing.

  • thats soo cool that u came to plano

i actually live in irving which is like really close to plano and btw im from bangladesh too :D

well all i wanna say is that u guys r doin a really grt job and i wish u could come to irving too

neways keep goin and god bless u

  • This is kind of embarrassing, but whenever I read Paper Towns (which I'm still reading because I am slow) I feel as if I know the writer personally, even though I don't. I just know more about him than any other famous writer out there.

  • That's not embarrassing at all - that's what I love about reading John's books :)

  • Omg I love this. It was beautiful.

I wish I could be going to Bangladesh for Save the Children.

  • I'm actually going to Bangladesh by myself with help from family - but I'll meet up with Save the Children once I'm there. I don't work for them - I just want to help Save the Children.

  • I do to. And I know donating helps, but I want to really help, as in be there to help.

That's awesome that you're going there on your own, though. So cool.

  • this is BEYOND amazing. I love Uncultured Project (and of course the vlog brothers). Vlog brothers + Uncultured Project = EPIC AWESOME WIN!

  • that made me smile so freaking big! aaa i wish i could go! the tour de nerdfighting is definitely decreasing world suck!

  • Rock on! You're doing such great work, and it's amazing to see such wonderful people teaming up to make things happen.

  • This is awesome! Now I can relive that day over and over!! Nerdfighters helping to decrease world suck...

  • nerdfighters FTW !!!

  • 5 stars

i think it is funny that 5 stars = awesome

    (just do the rating)

    good job

    cheers

  • I think there was one time when YouTube changed it from "Awesome" to "Excellent" - which kind of sucked. I'm glad they reverted to calling five stars "awesome" :)

  • hey great job.

your project has really come a long ways in under a year.

    quick question:

have you every read The Alchemist or Mountains Beyond Mountains?

  • Nope, why?

  • oh they are just good books that i enjoy.

Mountains Beyond Mountains is one you may like (i don't know) it is about Paul Farmer who did/does humanitarian work in Haiti.

And the Alchemist is a good story about how all existence is connected.

your probably too busy to read these but, ya.

Just something i thought you might find interesting.

  • Oh nice. I got to meet Paul Farmer the same day I met Jeffrey Sachs.

  • :-O

    cooooool

  • Hey man!!!

Glad to see you out and about! I think joining forces with Hank and John on their tour was a spectacular idea!!!!

Be safe and talk to you soon,

    Matt

  • Thanks as always Matt! <3

  • The awesome in this video is palpable!

  • Someone probably did(:

Just search "John and Hank Green in Plano, TX"

  • super awesome.

    so jealous.

    love it.

  • Woot! Shawn you're made of awesome.

  • oh my gosh this was absolutely one of the greatest days ever!

  • yay shawn!

  • That was awesome! And it was hilarious when John threw the Tootsie pop into the light fixture!

  • I so badly wish I caught that on camera... I stopped recording at that moment :-(

  • a seriously hilarious moment in nerdfighter history.

  • That was a fun video.

  • Nice to see. =)

  • well said shawn! we love your videos and all you do!

    k

  • the crowd is mostly girls?!

  • we had a lot of girls to begin with (hank and john showed up about an hour early, so mostly only girls showed up for that!), but it got a whole lot more even as it became later in the afternoon.

  • did anyone get any footage of that???

  • Yeah. I got the whole speech Shawn gave.

As well as most of Hank's songs. :]

It was made of awesome and I was all "Omgosh! It is Shawn! I watch his channel!"

  • Did anyone upload it to youtube? I missed it.

  • You can check my deleted scenes on my other channel (thestudent) - that shows a slightly more balanced gathering. Though it was still more girls than guys.

  • That was such a great video! Thanks for making and sharing it with us!

You are such an amazing human being! Keep doing what you are doing! You inspire people to do better in this world we live in, you definitely have inspired me!

  • man that screaming...lol..like they are the freakin beatles or something! the nerdfighter tour sure has produced hysteria...its so, whats the word? oh yeah, awesome =)

    great job w the charity!

  • Thanks! I am so amazed at the endless generosity of Nerdfighters. Before I could even finish explaining how the money could be spent - half the room was already pulling out money to donate.

Nerdfighters have the biggest hearts out there.

  • :))) I'm in this!

    Shawn you're my favorite person.

    <33

  • that was great!!

  • awesome man! I love what the vlogbrothers do to improve the world, i love what you do to improve the world, and its pretty neat to see you guys getting to do it together. dftba!

  • I just hope and pray I can keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully continue the fight against WorldSuck :)

  • great video!! :D

  • That was the greatest day ever!!! (My friend was the Free Hugs Girl.) Thanks so much for putting up this video!!!!!

  • Thanks to your friend for doing that Free Hugs campaign. That was brilliant.

  • ah! He was wearing a yeti T shirt :3

  • I only noticed that after reading your comment. Hilarious! :)

  • Watching this brought back all the warm fuzzies of that day. Nerdfighting FTW.

  • It was great seeing you there! :)

  • well done!

  • This is so awesome!! And your speech was amazing! favorite :))

  • SO jealous...

  • As awesome as that day was - it would have been several magnitudes more awesome if you had been there. =)

  • It was awesome to sit next to you in this video :]

  • Oh I'm so glad you left a comment! Because I was wondering if anyone who was sitting next to me would get to see this video. I want to keep in touch with all you guys! =)

  • Oh yes. And I got ya on facebook too.

Hopefully more nerdfighters will get around to this video!! :]

  • we made a north texas nerdfighter fb group! you should join! there should be a link somewhere in the Plano event comment section!

  • oh sweet. Thanks!

  • I love what you had to say about John's new approach to writing and connecting with the audience. That's exactly what I'm trying to do with music, and seeing the way the nerdfighter thing has taken off really gives me hope it can work.

Good luck with the rest of the tour and the amazing work you do. =)

  • Aww thanks for the kind words man - much <3 :-D

When (not if) you finally get your big break - I bet you'll be one of the most down-to-earth guys in your field because of your approach.

I mean take a look at John - he's a freakin' NY Times best seller but he's the most down to earth and humble person I've had the honor of getting to know.

  • never-ending little sally walker FTW! i'm glad out ALL the footage you took of that, you chose to put in me dancing. appreciate it! haha

  • I'm glad you got to see it! I was hoping some of the Texas Nerdfighters would see this video :)

  • unrelated to the thread id like to donate, but alas Tour De Nerdfighting doesn't reach me until after Westport, and solutions?

  • That Tour de Nerdfighting funds for Save the Children was just something that worked out. You can always donate to Save the Children - it just won't be for my Challenge Poverty stuff. Also, you can also donate to the project via PayPal. But I'm not a charity so you don't get a tax write-off unfortunately...

  • i <3 manhugs...

    you never FTBA

  • I am going to the event on Nov. 14th. I will just donate on line then. You do great work and have become a hero in many peoples eyes.

  • Hey Alley, in the deleted scene where you see my full talk - I kind of mention how I really don't consider myself a hero. I'm just a regular guy and a luck Nerdfighter :)

  • You are a regular guy who is doing something to make this world a better place. I wont call you a hero (But you are), but you are changing lives for the better and not all of them are in Bangladesh. Can I call you a positive role model.

  • lol cool

  • Oh my goodness, you're going back!?! You're amazing Shawn! <3 <3

    Hugs,

    -B

  • I might stay so I can spend Christmas with the family (unlike LAST Christmas) but yeah - if all goes according to plan, I'll be going back! :)

  • It's so amazing that you're going back(!!), I hope that you spend Christmas with your family. <3

    Hugs,

    -B

  • I heard you'll be in Westport! I hope you can film some stuff there for me! And if John and Hank are busy maybe you can help Save the Children collect the money? Lemme know! :-D

  • Woah, how did I miss the info in the side bar about Westport being the home for Save the Children?! Awesome, Elliot and I will do whatever you need us to do! <3

    Hugs,

    -B

  • This is excellent to see. Im glad John has helped you out Shawn. John has done the same with me. You are doing an awesome Job Shawn. I cant wait to see what happens next.

You are really awesome, I can not say that enough.

  • I'm amazed at how John makes time for almost everyone. He's like a machine. Or maybe he invented a 36 hour day and didn't tell anyone? =)

  • I wish i was there !! :D

You are really doing a great job !

  • :D This is so awesome and exciting! Can't wait to see what comes next.
