  • miss you alot love all the songs

  • The best version i've ever heard. Love Dusty!!!!

  • omg this is a good remake !!!!! she is so good !!!

  • Grew up with this song. Brings back wonderful memories. Thanks Dusty.

  • I will always remember her as she was in about 1967. It's too bad that she, like all of us, had to grow old and die.

    Rest in peace, Dusty.

  • @EdWatts that's putting it bluntly. I'm going for melatonin, they say it prolongs your life, haha.

  • Rock on Dusty. Miss you loads. Lots of Love.xxx

  • This is a fantastic version of one of my favorite songs done by one of my favorite singers. Funny how although the series of photos triggers flashbacks(for me) of Audra(Big Valley), Julie(Mod Squad), Alex(Fatal Attraction), with sprinkles of Doris Day,Twiggy,Sharon Tate & even Princess Diana, there's no mistaking who this incredibly beautiful & talented singer was & who stood her ground when surrounded with controversy. Ms Springfield was always in a class by herself !! Thank you for posting.

  • love this song

  • In my opinion, this is one of the greatest romantic songs ever composed, and the "greatest white blues singer" here, does a wonderful job on it. Although nobody does it like the original artists, The Shirelles.

  • @muzzlepuncher7 Helen Shapiro, Amy Winehouse did it better, i think. Dusty was great but this was perhaps not quite her thing, still like it. Nothing wrong with the Shirelles, just a bit fast and the music that goes with it is outdated. The best version for me is by the writer of the song, Carole King. But several versions are good. Lykke Li? It's different. You could make a CD with good versions of this song.

  • vivacious, passionate, private and a tonsils 'kissed by an angel'..thank you for the wonderful tunes and memories..x

  • Her voice seems a bit tuneless to me. A bit inaccurate. Good, but nowhere near great.

  • @ludocrat you must be high up in the music industry with such a finely tuned ear. (how's the job at Pizza express working out?)

  • @ludocrat You, sir, are a tasteless retard, in a brightly coloured wheelchair.

  • What a Voice puts these Xfactors to shame, pure class

  • beautiful woman, beautiful song,

    Dusty can never falter

    Flawless

    x

  • Dusty Springfield was asked to perform in South Africa while is was under Apartied rule, she was the first British Artist to refuse to perform, no matter what they offered.

  • @N15gooner I think I love Dusty more Now!

  • @N15gooner True. Dusty was a big supporter of the civil rights movement. When she toured South Africa in 1964, she had a special clause written into her contract stipulating that she'd only play to mixed audiences as she was opposed to segregation. She was the first artist to take this stand against apartheid and as a result was deported by the South African authorities. It created a huge stink back in the UK and damaged her career. But she stuck to her guns, good for her!

  • @N15gooner Didn't know that... more respect to Dusty!!!!

    She was just great!

  • Top Girl Dusty- much love

  • wow...even when audio equipments were not as good as today's...what a voice!!this song was written for her...this is better than any versions out there..no offense...

  • Until I saw this video I thought the song was sung by a black singer....A very, very good black singer...

  • LOBO'S VERSION IS ALSO GOOD.

  • We will always love you Dusty.

  • Dusty ,tupelo honey. great meets great

  • can't believe this deva was born in 1939

  • to be honest i prefer the shirrelles better

  • @inadversityblkops Me too, but Dusty Springfield always have something special. :-)

  • i perfer dusty singing the song than shirrelles

  • @hildaquinn No one in the world will ever sing this song like Dusty

  • the sound of an Angel!

  • Did Phil Spector produce it? Sounds very much like his "Wall of Sound" style

  • @llabful This is a British recording, not a Spector production. Some Brit tunes of this period have a hard-driving sound similar to Spector's, though.

  • she does a good uptempo version the way it should be done

  • i prefer it to the original, i love the original also but dusty adds something different

  • awesome

  • Love Dusty but for this song, I like SHirelles version better(the orig.)

  • much MUCH better than the original

  • One of the greatest and most versatile voices of our time. Thanks for posting.

  • 23 Girls Aloud and Atomic Kitten fans

  • From Dusty "Singing" with Her Brother In The 50's to Now.

I Still Love Her Music!! rip Dusty-

  • I like the original but love dusty's version

  • 22 ppl are insane

  • yes dusty..i'll love you tomorrow, next week, next year, and forever. you were one of a kind. rest in peace. you are sorely missed...

  • Girls Aloud were the last people to appear on Top of the Pops.

Think about that for a minute.

  • @the1musiclad lol haha

  • @the1musiclad British pop starts on a stratospheric high and ends up at the Earth's core, with Girls Aloud.

  • you guys want to hear a REAL version of this song listen to how James Durbin sang it on American Idol....... FLAWLESS

  • @kentuckykid270 I love James Durbin, but that comment is incredibly offensive. Who are you to decide what a "Real" version of this song is? You had probably never even heard of this song until it was on American Idol.

Listen to every one of the 100+ covers of this song, and THEN tell me which one is REAL

  • @kentuckykid270 REAL and AMERICAN IDOL should never be used in the same sentence NEVER

  • Dusty can sing anything and be great. As good as the original by the Shirelles and it is great Dustys voice fits the song perfect - Dusty is good as u can get and still enjoy listening to her and always will

  • I always like Dusty when the Beatles first hit NY radio in January 1964 and started the "British Invasion" Dusty's "I only want to be with you" was also released here the same week even before the Dave Clark V and well before the Rolling Stones This version is diferent but just as good as the shirelles

  • In answer to that question, yes we will Dusty. R.I.P lass, twelve years ago today.

    Ray ♥♥.

  • still seems to rattle the glasses in my glass cabinet! -her voice is so strong!

-but she is still only on cruising speed here!

-hugely underated, but thx to "Pet Shop Boys" for recognising Dusty

Who of ever Guessed that Dusty was so Troubled!

    Tears for Her. RIP Dusty

    Always Loved and Remembered

  • Love this version...RIP Dusty...you'll live forever in our ears and hearts...

  • Both Stunning---------(The song & Dusty)

  • i like this arrangement better but the shirelles version sounds more innocent. lol. nice uptempo version.

  • damn, we gotta wait a million years for talent and soul like hers to roll around again!!!

  • @mattoh1981 and we'll be waitin someplace in space and time!! how romantic!!

  • A great singer and song love this ..

  • Beautifull put together "pictures" of Dusty. She did this song good. You are so missed Dusty. RIP

  • I GUESS SHE IS KIND OF DUSTY IN A PRETTY SORT OF WAY.

  • Nice hair!

  • Hippie Jimi I think it was the rolling stones who appeared first on totp Dusty was second.

  • @borojohn40

Hippiejim is correct about Dusty being the first artist on TOTP, she sang I ONLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU, 1st Jan 1964

  • @keithankay I posted a comment and forgot to send it to you .if you look on wikipedia you are right about the date and song but in order of appearance it was the Stones, Dusty , Dave Clarke five etc etc. Thanks for the reply.

  • I like this song :-) But more I like Amy Winehouse's version

  • I will always love this song!!

  • great voice, production owes a lot to Phil Spector. With her voice and the `wall of sound` that would have been a match made in heaven!

  • 22 People have no Heart and a Soul

  • @dragonheat99 or a soul u mean

  • @ShabeyBambles Nope i mean no Soul because if they had one they would not vote negative :-)

  • this song make me feel peace

  • Love Dusty , also love Elkie Brooks.

  • This is my favourite Dusty Springfield song. Taken from her first album A Girl Called Dusty. Released in 1964. A friend gave me the album back in the early 70's and this was the song I fell in love with. Just amazing. And much stronger than the original version. I'm so pleased to find it on here.

  • Dusty was one of a kind-her voice just grabs you and never lets you go.

  • Why are there 21 dislikes? That's 21 too many.

  • @nickoleiswastika 22 out of the 1084 who 'voted' is only 2%, that's not bad at all.

  • @IceCubeJohnson Idc. Still to many. Thanks for the math.

  • Dusty Springfield was a real beauty!!!!

  • She was pretty cute!

  • Yes, but with a very wonderful voice !!

  • @serlancelot she was, but her preferance was women and it was kept a secret

  • what chrismast tune of romanticness damnn i will always love her...forever..here lookndusty springfield around my time...she is awesome

  • anybody else think she sorta looks like a retro Faith Hill?

  • I'm in love with her, even though she was a lez.

  • She is truly excellent. But, there is more, something very real human and a powerful sexuality there.

  • ALWAYS in love with her!

  • An unforgettable woman and voice.! Thank you to all who posted her music..Just a short query, does it seem to anyone else that her love songs are all wre sad and truly ring of sorow?? Not sure if it's me because of my experience or what.I wonder if she loved only one she could never get over ?? Humm..

  • haha when Dusty sings 'Ohhh' at 0: 12 it reminds me of Cher from Xfactor UK :)

    Great version this is btw!

  • Comment removed

  • Lovely lady..........never forgotten.xxxx

  • ...Wanted! Dead or Alive!..Music Never Had The Queen of Hearts as Dusty Springfield Knock on Every Door!...(but then you'll need me..UNFAIR!)

  • Amy Crackhead's version is a piss poor imitation of Dusty (& the Shirelles)

    Long live real legends.

  • The best of the 60s... The beatiful, wonderful, magestic!!!!!!!!!!! DUSTY SPRINGFIELD

  • I guess you could say this would be a darker version of this song. Love it..

  • First person ever to appear on Top of the Pops....

  • The Queen. Song seems a little to fast/frenetic tho.

  • Dusty, just great to hear you sing this song, one of the best songs around.

  • what a beautiful looking woman, and with a voice sent from heaven.

  • I just LOVE her VOICE!

  • she gave out love in her voice and needed it back. sorely missed.

  • I'm not really a Dusty fan, but I have never heard a song that she recorded that I thought anyone else did better. She was a great interpreter as well as singer.

  • @samcandy64 I agree. Dusty really knew how to make any song just a little bit better through her interpretation.

  • @DISCOVEGASGUY Did you know she also did a duet with B.J. Thomas on Growing Pains' theme song for its 4th season? I always thought their version was the best of the show's themes.

  • Pretty cool!

  • Carol and Gerry = magic

  • I love you now. You live on Dusty.

  • How I remember this lady when I was a kid,a talent that was never fully appreciated enough....never forgotten Dusty.

  • Big Respect too Dusty. A true MOD Girl...XXX

  • Big Kisses and Respect too a True Mod Girl..X

  • Great

  • great great

  • Huge Dusty fan here. ♥ She was tuned in to so many different sounds and genres. She was also the guiding force behind exposing Motown to a wider audience in Britain. Segments of the great 1965 "Ready Steady Go!" Motown special she hosted are on YouTube. I urge fans to check them out.

  • @motownmaniax You are so right, Dusty was truly amazing. That Ready Steady Go was an awesome event in music history, loved her singing with the Vandellas!

  • I'll love you today and tomorrow today

  • Yessss Dusty we will!!!!!!!!!

  • HER MAJESTY THE DUSTY !! HER SPIRIT

  • I love Dusty Springfield. She had a great voice, and she does well with this song.

    unclekey

  • A travel back through time in an instant.

  • TO MIKE THOMAS..........THIS SONG WAS ORIGINALLY DONE BY THE SHIRELL'S IN THE EARLY 60''s. IF YOU LIKE SOUNDS LIKE THIS TUNE INTO MORE 60's THERE ARE LOADS TO LISTEN TOO

    LINDA GLASGOW.

  • this is for you GOLD

  • This is the right tempo for this song. It doesn't really work at a slower speed. Dusty brilliant as always.

  • wow i didn't know this song was old!!:) i heard it sang by Mest.Check it out.they mixed it nicely:)

  • As a kid I thought she was American. Hearing Amy Winehouse cover this makes me wonder why so many Brits sound American when raising their voices in song.

  • ace ...all that Dusty Springfield touched turned out to be brilliant xxxx

  • Great song!!! and great pics...

    Mike

  • Born in the 50's remember dancing with my wife, to this great tune what a dynamite 5'2" beautiful person/singer , oh how we miss her and her music now adays . R.I.P. Dusty as Bob Hope would say " thanks for the memories."

  • The greatest ever white female soul singer of all time pure class

  • A great version. Certainly as good the original. Megavoice.

  • What a voice !!thanks

  • @Timmybear Another song that I love...she was quite brilliant.

  • What I like about Dusty's is that it seems much more a rhetorical question. She will sleep with her anyway, but it would just be nice to know. :)

  • Ich Liebe Dich Mirlinda ♥♥♥

  • One of my favourite songs and one of my favourite singers! Thank you!

  • great version of this fantastic song

  • she sings this so pretty this is the best i ever heard of her this is a good song that she remade.

  • MUCH better than the orignal!!!

  • just awesome!!!

  • Dusty, there's no doubt I'll still love ya tomorrow!! (yo sigo con mis comentarios domingueros) '_'

  • Love love love love <3

  • she is a trooper

  • Prodigies just don't play musical instruments, but come in all areas of human endeavor and experience. The emotional maturity of the lyrics is astonishing; I've never really gotten past the "Call me/Call you" level. Written by Carole King when she was age 17. I'd sooner reproduce Einstein.

  • am i that old ~~~~lol

  • omg i always love Dusty she was awesome I'll never forget that first time I heard her on the radio gawd I'm old lol

  • Good vocal. I think Dusty captures the feeling and certainly performs well, musically-speaking. The arrangement is 'inventive', but I still prefer the girls ensemble (Shirelles) version, with its violin-highlighted orchestral backing. Again, it is a great effort, but nothing IMO, matches the original rendition, which truly 'timeless', and happens to be my all-time favorite recording.

  • Someone once posted that

"...when Tina Turner covers YOUR hit song(s), YOU'VE arrived."

That is so true... But was also so very true of Dusty Srpingfield!

There are songs by Dionne Warwick, Garnett Mimms, Van Morrison, Jerry Butler, Mitty Colliers, Mary Wells, The Velvelettes, "Justine" Baby Washington, and many more, that Dusty remakes. Just when I think I really "loved" the original(s), Dusty would come along and I would really "LOVE" her version(s).

  • You know... A lot of her songs, as with many artists, were "left in the vaults" when they were originally recorded. Quite often the record company owner, or the producers, or some legal situation, would keep the song from being released for radio play or for commercial sale. The song "Chapel Of Love" by Darlene Love comes to mind. Then when you finally get to hear it you get... like... blown away thinking, "Where has this masterpiece been all my life?" And that's quite often too bad...

  • Great song and video

  • I love this song. And I even love it more sung by Dusty. Thanks to Carole King, Gerry Goffin and Dusty for that moment.

  • WOW!!! What more can one say?

  • I have always loved her singing. What a great voice.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

    ;)

  • She is & always will be a class act! Beautiful voice combined with a a gorgeous face.
