To say that religion is the only reason people go to war is inaccurate. The way I would word it is that the only way to get people to go to war is absolutionist ideological beliefs. This includes things like political ideals, economic ideals, philosophy, religion, etc. Any belief where people approach it with a "We are unquestionably right, You are unquestionably wrong; period!" Anything that forces you to see the world in black and white, us vs. them, cause wars.

In many cases you are correct, but let us not forget all of religions competition. Communist Russia comes to mind, atheistic but they applied their political ideals without mercy. PETA is a good example of a modern ideal. They sink ships to stop fishing; bomb labs for testing on animals. Most people don't know it but every year Peta puts hundreds of "rescued" animals to sleep since they feel it's more humane than leaving them in shelters.

"I am right" is what's dangerous.

Actually the term fundamentalism was termed in reference to US protestants. Today c.92% of US citizens believe in god.

Obviously, I understand that people use religion as a support to get through hard times... That's one of the main reasons that it was invented in the first place. About the high rate of religious people in USA are because of their lack correct education. I think the american socialistic party should work their way up again, it would create a more even education for children. Nilguiri, by the way, the 92% of US citizens believing in god statistic is wrong. I know you probably took it from the video. But I do believe the Gallup poll of 2007 indicated that only 86% of American citizens believed in a God, whilst 8% weren't sure, and 6% didn't believe in a God.

Then what makes the relgion dangerous? All i see is that if you removed the religion from a religios war the war would still be there. The same with dangerous cars.
