People have to change there thoughts on guns. it is the people that use the guns to kill other people. if they are not given a gun they will buy a gun illegally or steal one. the problem is not guns. you must try to implicate means of helping people with there problems, whatever they may be. invest your sorrows into trying to stop people before they ever think of using a gun. we need more programs to help the people get over there life problems, not to take guns away from good people.
It is possibly to have a responsible, well armed society, but the government needs to tightly regulate it, keep detailed records and train citizens in the proper use of firearms. This myth that the government is going to "take away our guns" if they regulate and control who owns them (a la "Red Dawn") isn't patriotic, its paranoid. however, the swiss have hundreds of years of history as a militia society, and we've abandoned ours in the US.
access to arms+govt regulation+training= common sense
@brohan914 Do the words "shall not be infringed" ring a bell? How about "the people"? It is plain and simple what the Second Amendment means. It has to some degree been defined in Keller v DC, and the government "tightly" regulating it had nothing to do with it.
Please explain to us how the government "tightly regulating" our right to "keep and bear arms" does anything except to infringe on our rights to keep and bear arms?
@jbranstetter04 will do. A certain country regulates absolutely everything when it comes to citizen gun ownership. when you get a weapon, it is cataloged and regularly inspected by the government to see if it is stored and used correctly. when active armed service ends, the citizen must send his weapon to a government plant where the select fire system is disabled. The government even determines the amount and type of ammo that should be given to the public
@SyverCyber Maybe everything's fine in your gated-community in the suburbs, but in MY city, the local thugs and gang bangers can get high powered assault weaponry directly from nearby gun shows without needing to provide any ID or criminal background check. The gangs used to be an annoyance, but now they can outgun local cops, they're more like the law in our community, beating up kids and intimidating local businesses.
@SyverCyber oh by the way, last week, they used brand new AK's and FN FAL battle rifles to gun down a car full of high school kids, all of whom I knew. It turned out later that the guns used in the killings of my friends were bought at a gun show under fake names and identities. My friends would still be alive if we had limited government regulation of gun ownership. Don't believe me, go visit their graves, you NRA prick.
@brohan914 the main reson we have guns was originally to defend from our government, that is the reason genoside was far easer to commit in countires like russia and germany who banned guns and so had no risistance, law abiding citizens with legal guns are not the problem criminals with illegal guns(aka ban all guns they will get then illegally(criminals breaking laws who would have thought)) the way to reduce gun crime is to destroy the incrastucture in crime that armed criminals in
@brohan914 the first place, drugs. Drugs provide the cash create organised crime and that inturn creates the infrastructre for gun crime, look at the uk over 3000 armed roberies with hand guns(which are illegal) all are illegal smuggled or built guns you find criminals in the uk with ak47s mac 10s, in a nation where semi auto center fires are illegal and it takes about 6 months to get a gun, aslo in the uk drug crime has risen so has gun crime, look at the usa places with most gun
Why does Switzerland even have a military? They havn't been in a war in hundreds of years. Its pretty cool that the military lets their soldiers take their rifles home.
Yes I agree! if there were no guns, no one would ever kill themselves again. LOL! what a weak argument. So sad that people think this is a good idea. All political power comes from the barrel of a gun.
omg they threaten their wifes with their guns omg if they ban the guns they will have to stab them to death, with a swiss knife THAT IS HORRIBLE!!!
yeah women should totally swing the vote for the ban, if they have a violent spouse, that wants to kill them, don't ask for a divorce, its so much easy to ban the guns, and get everyone fucked, at the mercy of criminals, including the government.
When i'm done with my education and i cranked up my German a bit, i'm moving to Switzerland because i love the country side. The firearm laws are also a plus, as a former marine i miss shooting at a range :)
For those who live in the UK please sign the petition if you support,
PETITION TO REPEAL THE 1997 AND 1988 FIREARMS ACTS.
We, the undersigned, petition the UK government to repeal both the 1997 and 1988 Firearms Acts. We believe that law-abiding people should be allowed to own handguns as well as other firearms prohibited under these laws, should they wish to do so.
In Switzerland, we are the best ;-) more seriously, our gun crime rate is the best example to proove that a lot of guns in the hands of honnest citizen are not dangerous, they give more security. Do not forget that Switzerland is the third most armed country in the world (after USA and Yemen).
Switzerland has a true democracy, they can legally own a wide range of firearms, they are trusted as adults and responsible citizens, are trusted by their Government and have extremely low gun related crime. Compare that to Britain which has extremely strict gun laws, our Government distrusts its citizens and treats them as criminals, yet Britain is awash with ILLEGAL firearms in the hands of REAL criminals.
I hope they never get their firearm rights taken away. There are few murders in Switzerland why have stricter gun control? Seriously, if someone wants to kill themselves they can figure out a way to kill themselves in other ways.
@bubba007ss No they have not. They've not changed their gun laws. I didn't have room, but I was going to put a short video in here that showed their form of government, which is a federal system somewhat like ours. They don't have states, but instead they have Cantons, 26 of them. For this law to have become national, it was required that a majority of the people as a whole vote for it, and that a majority of the Cantons vote for it, which is hard to do since many Cantons are rural.
Great video, it's nice to know the Swiss haven't completely lost it like other European countries. Using the suicide argument is stupid because if someone wants to kill themselves they're going to find a way. Take away the guns and suicides by sleeping pills will skyrocket, along with trips to Dr. Kervorkian.
@EricShermansChannel While researching for this video I saw that some investigations were done and that in other European countries the suicide rate basically stayed the same, only the method changed.
@NAGGERNUTZ It took me a couple of hours to find the footage and to put it all together. I'm glad at least a few people liked it. It reminds us that there are a lot of sane people in the world besides us.
@canascot02 And I have the solution for that. It's called putting people in prison. Not for drug use, but for violent crime. And then if they choose to use a gun in their violent act, they can have an extra 10 years in the slammer.
@jbranstetter04 keep in mind it takes a lot of money to maintain prisons, that's money from your pocket, But I like how u said not for drug use because there are too many non violent offenders in prison mainly for marijuana possesion/trafficking etc.
@canascot02 Keep in mind how much it costs society to pay for the destruction that criminals create in their endeavor to "make a living". Insurance costs; repair bills; time spent dealing with the destruction they create. That said, it is true that most crime is committed by drug addicted people trying to get money to buy drugs, so doing something about the drug problem will go a long way in decreasing crime and the money wasted because of it, although finding the solution is difficult.
@TyonKree .. Hiya Tyon, while I do agree with your logic to a point..
its due to the fact (as I understand it..) that the People, as well as the Govt. (Local & National) had to vote in the majority for the measure to pass..
It seems to me that the Swiss People feel like they're trusted by their Govt. & feel they can trust their Govt..
As a US Citizen & Veteran, I'd give anything to have that..
@Rolands131 Normally they will break legs and fingers first. Or is that bookies? Either way, there are other ways to hurt and kill people, and of course there are other ways to get firearms other than by joining the military. Let me think, I need a firearm to kill someone, so I will join the army.
