Rarely does an asthmatic child need to be hospitalized. Epinephrine 1:1000 ml .5 ml SQ Max q15minX3 along with a systemic corticosteroid can be life saving. I faced this situation many times and no patient of mine has ever been hospitalized and none have died. Epinephrine SQ followed by inhaled (nebulized) albuterol .083% is highly effective. Acidosis (CO2 elevation-retention) suggest that death may be near. Asthmatics commonly died before dawn; > 4,000 asthmatics die yearly in the U.S.
@carolbivens ive been in to the hospital 4 times and im 14. and they tried that every time, didnt work. so they tried it over and over again and i stopped breathing once and it still didnt work
