I was north of Central City about 2 miles when I saw this, glad I headed back into town as I was sitting on red school road right in the damage path. Was out there by the barn and machine shed got mangled.
I agree that the siren activation was too short. Was that Central City's or Alburnett's? The sirens in CR go off for 3 minutes for an alert and I think even that is too short.
Love the dog howling! Tornado siren is in our backyard and it doesn't even faze our dog!
It's Central City's siren. It's either a 5T or 7T (Tempted to say 7T because it winds up pretty quick). I just today drove over there to find out, and took some pictures of it too. Alburnett has an XT22, and the rural area west of Central City is covered with Whelens for the DAEC nuclear plant.
The amount of time the siren is on doesn't really matter... its meant as a warning if you're outside and if you are (obviously) you will hear it blow.
BTW I love your dog howling to the siren! Him's is just tryin to protect his family :)
Oh, and the next time a funnel cloud came over town the fire department left the siren on for 5 or 6 minutes straight.

Nice video! Love the sound of the siren!
That was quite a late, and short activation..odd! Maybe the power got cut to it.
Love the canine "siren", haha! He/She's a warning device of their own :P

actually its a Federal Signal 5t or SD-10. Sentry's have a much grainier sound.
