  • woah...

    that's my name..

    hahaha xD

  • I now have this album on my iPod.

Pretty amazing if you ask me

  • soooo.. how many times have I pressed repeat?

  • This was such a great album, much more creative than their previous few. Though, I still think Transatlanticism was their best one, there are so many great songs on this album, this being one of them for sure :)

  • I relate to this song way to much.....i love it. most music these days are words made for money, but death cab for cutie keeps it real. they keep the soul and emotion in there songs. i love it,<3

  • I don't Even need lyrics I memorized all of it the first time! I love this song

  • Good music right hear.

  • dat bass.

  • Is this about Wuthering Heights...?

  • I actually believe this song is about the struggle of accepting Catholicism, or any faith for that matter. Having the main character being named "Cath" is just a fitting play on words i feel. The well intentioned man is the faith but Cath can't accept it and doesn't fit in with the faith. This is why she is sad and doesn't want to be married, but she can't leave him because she is in a "hand-me-down weddding dress". The dress is the influence of her parents, and her vows are sealed by baptism.

  • @jamesman74 hi just wanted to say how amazing it is that they can make one song so wonderful and how people can see it as completely different things. :) Thats whats awesome about good music; people listen and a story just springs into their mind. Personally, I thought it was about love and how some people take the safe choice to not get hurt..

  • The more I listen to Death Cab the more I am reminded of American Football.

Only, with less horns, and more words.

Still, it keeps them alive and I enjoy that.

  • What a well instrumented track...

  • This song is so bittersweet

  • I know many will disagree, but this album was the least interesting of Death Cabs for me. I mean I love it and this song is great, but this wouldn't be where I recommend anyone to start with Death Cab. Transatlanticism is pure magic and their best so far to me.

  • @robhartjr1993 I love Transatlanticism as well. However, I like this album as well. For example, "No Sunlight" and "I Will Possess Your Heart" are also great.

  • Ben Gibbard, My guardian angel.

  • The opening of this song is amazing. I get the chills every time I hear it. This song is just so beautiful, especially the lyrics.

  • I can stand many things. I can stand children crying and screaming, I can stand angry cats meowing, I can stand screeching tires, or someone watching TV too loud.

What I CAN'T stand is bad music, which is why I'm listening to this on my phone right now.

Sorry for being rude guy, but you shouldn't have put that CD in..

  • My ears are having a love affair with those drums.

  • Linger :-)

  • I listen to some pretty extreme shit. ya know like death metal and what not, but this music is literally perfect. Death Cab are so talented with composition.

  • Death Cab's Best Song, as the flash bulbs burst.

  • This is about Catherine from Wuthering Heights!

  • What is this song really about?

  • Death cab for cutie isn't a band to me. It's something better. <3

  • That opening riff can cure cancer.

  • The best line in my opinion is "Whispers that it wont last go up and down the pew". I just love how he sings it <3

  • this song, is my life

  • the drumming is so epic

  • My life put into a song :)

  • FINALLYYYYY!!!! AFTER LISTENING TO EVERYONE SINGLE SONG ON ALL THE OTHER ALBUMS I HAVE FOUND IT!!!

  • Am I the only person here who thinks this is about Catherine from Wuthering Heights???

  • @monkeyroxmysox You're right, Wuthering Heights was the inspiration for this song

  • Comment removed

  • Such a lovely song...

  • FUCKING LOVE SONG!!!!!

  • @TheWaffle35 SO DO I.

  • i have never heard of this band but i like it

  • @TheGenizide congratulations on finding the best band ever! :)

  • Every time I listen to this my girlfriend who is leaving to go back to europe pops into my head. Death Cab rocks!!!!

  • death cab for cutie featuring mumford and sons? anyone?

  • @fancyshmancyful Oh my god. YES.

  • and still, "We Have The Facts and We're Voting Yes" remains my favourite dcfc album. This song is okay, but it's nothing like any of the stuff I heard on we have the facts. People say that this song Cath is one of their best and I was expecting this song to blow my mind when I first heard it a while ago. It's just average for me. I still can't find anything that compares to We Have The Facts. But anyway, these are just my opinions. Not here to start pointless arguments. Just enjoying the music.

  • @dfjnjfn That cd has never left my music circulation since hearing it years ago. Their other songs and cds are all great and I listen to them from time to time, but there's just something magic about that one. Especially on a cold foggy day like today where I am, I really can't think of anything better to listen to.

  • What an amazing song!

  • Love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SHHHHH!!!! Cath and I are smoking pot! Stop yelling for her -_-...

  • Love this song. It's been one of the ones that I listen to over and over while going through my divorce lol

  • This reminds me of Wuthering Heights - Cath's marriage to Edgar instead of Heathcliff...

  • @maudreyful The song was a little bit planned to be for it, you can just tell. c;

  • song is awesome

  • bellingham

  • I have never listened to a band, that brings so much raw emotion into the spectrum of lyricism... Truly innovative, and articulate musicians:)

  • Love this song, oh so much.

  • Found this song because of Wuthering Heights. Holy crow, am I glad I did.

  • Soooooo, what DID become of you????????

  • Death Cab For Cutie trying to sound like Built To Spill at its finest.

  • @ThatMothersdayman built to spill is garbage compared to death cab garbage

  • @aliciaddderty Death Cab is alright, this album is pretty good along with a couple other songs, but besides that not much else. Built To Spill is leagues above DCFC. There should not even really be a comparison. I can't really stand Ben Gibbard's whiny voice or horrible poetry/lyrics about ten different types of fabric.

  • @ThatMothersdayman Wow you know what I'm gonna go do right now? Look up bands I don't like and hate them on them to annoy all their fans, wasting my precious time as well as everyone else's. That sounds like a wonderful idea. It's perfectly alright that you don't like Death Cab, but that doesn't mean that you should criticize them in front of people who actually really like them. If you like that other band so much why don't you go listen to them instead? It would make everyone a lot happier.

  • Such a amazing song.. sadly it makes me think back on my life and wonder if I'm doing the right thing..

  • its amazing how you could pass death cab off as "just another one of those rockish boy bands" but if you really listen to it, their music is amazing, artistic, and extremely deep in an overwelminly emotional emotionless way, know what i mean? I know it sounds crazy, but once you think about it death cab has created their very own, original, unique feeling and sound...

but maybe I'm just a dreamy fan haha

  • @INF3darkgreen That's what I've been saying all along. The lyrics read like a poem, and everything they do is beautiful and completely unique.

  • @ginia1226 yeah, read like a poem, exactly :)

  • @INF3darkgreen i have to agree. :) i'm not a huge fan of their lyrics, but if you listen to the actual music, it's wonderful and deep. this is one of my favorite songs... and dcfc is passed off as a "whiny emo band" way too often. i think their underrated.

  • @INF3darkgreen **they're. whoops spelling fail.

  • @INF3darkgreen I've never once thought of DCFC as a rockish boy band. Not since I've the first song I've heard by them - Soul Meets Body. I knew they were deep.

  • @INF3darkgreen No I agree. I may not know entirely what you're talking about but I know the feeling, they do have their own sound there, very much so... and they are very deep. This is the first song I ever heard of theirs, and is probably one of my favorites. It's great... very unique.

  • @INF3darkgreen Oh. My. God. I thought I was the only one that thought that. They're kinda like.. magical sounding to me I guess? Absolutely amazing <33

  • @ILikeWafflz Despite all the dumb people on the comment thread, I appreciate the upload and want to say thank you!!

  • The only band I like of this genre. Death Cab for ME! :D

  • this song made me break up with my girlfriend......

  • I'd have done the same as you.

  • @Rosariogalio You forgot to say 'in my opinion'.

  • @CoN0R115 I LOVE GOOD WIFE! and Death Cab :D

  • I forgot about this song. such an awesome song.

  • @lonepantherkmt

who the fuck even abbreviates shut the fuck up?? haha

  • Death cab > any other band (besides maybe The postal service of couse)

  • @Rosariogalio The Postal Service isn't that good and your opinion is very narrow-minded.

  • @InkorrectLol you clearly don't know good music. Nobodies perfect I guess..

  • @InkorrectLol Wait a sec, isn't the lead singer of the Postal Service the same lead singer from DCFC?

  • @thaaeroprincess87 Yes, but The Postal Service was more of a project. Ben Gibbard wasn't as serious with The Postal Service as he is with Death Cab.

  • SOON EVERYBODY WILL ASK WHAT BECAME OF YOU!!

  • :( makes me wish I had taken a shot at the one girl I was interested in...

  • love this song! these guys are simply good

  • this song got me into death cab for cutie..and i must say they are the shit!

  • DCFCis not just best, theyre the best!!!!

  • @lonepantherkmt @daxter34 both of you stfu

  • @0n4dAw0ps Troll alarm -- Activated.

  • @ILikeWafflz Thanks for the quality upload brotha!

  • @0n4dAw0ps for you poor soul but variety in the spice of life so chill to hate is to love - emotions

  • @lonepantherkmt

Why don't you take your head out your ass and look it up on Google you fucking dumb ass. I bet your going to reply in a matter of seconds "Oh no its dying you dumb" like i give any of a fuck about you or what you have to say.

  • Just how cool is that song?....its a rhetorical question.

  • @lonepantherkmt

Your the one bitching over it kid.

  • so maybe the only reason i found this song is because i googled my own name, but I bloody love it (:

  • bah this seems like such a transparent song for dcfc

    sounds good tho so eh

  • Cath, she stands, with a well-intentioned man.

  • The opening guitar lines are beautiful. The song just gets better from there.

  • @lonepantherkmt Yeah, you're just trolling. Ben Gibbard himself could tell you it's "crying" and you'd still go here and tell everybody it's "dying" to start something.

  • @lonepantherkmt I hear crying. I heard it on the studio version and about 30 other live versions on youtube, and every lyric site that I've looked up.

But I'm pretty sure you're just trolling.

  • I don't really like the way it's sung, but I love how he wrote this referencing Wuthering Heights (: It's a great book. Classic. Catherine really was a bitch for marrying Edgar and not Heathcliff....

  • Comment removed

  • @lonepantherkmt pretty sure its 'crying'. She's holding an uncomfortable smile.

  • @QueLaMosca It sounds to me like "dying" but I really like the meaning it would give if it was "crying"... So I'm okay either way, personally.

  • @lonepantherkmt Okay, well- I have the CD right here. In my hand. The lyrics are in the liner notes and it says "crying" - so take it up with the band.

  • @sprucepantherkmt "crying child". Who smiles while holding a dying child?

  • @QueLaMosca AHAHAHAH. that made my day. lmao

  • But you said your vows and closed the door, on so many men who would have loved you more. :(

  • @sprucepantherkmt You're crazy. O_o

  • Everytime Ben Gibard says, "With a well intentioned man."

Reminds me of my hippie history teacher. No idea why, but I find it hilarious each time I hear it.

  • amazing song makes me cry, perfect

  • i'd have done the same as you

  • this song is about Alice

  • thank you death cab for cuite for writing a song about me.

  • The beginning gives me cold chills.

  • I love this song

  • Ah, this brings back so many memories haha.

  • If any of you guys read Wuthering Heights or at least heard of it this song is based on the main female character Catherine. I thought it was kinda cool that that was their inspiration, but they rock anyway.

  • @shanabx718 that's pretty cool ;D

  • 2:22 lol favorite part
