colin was a great doctor. despite the obvious attempts to keep the ratings up with stuff to excite the men (peri) he was actually a great doctor, and i am torn between him, patrick troughton and jon pertwee
I think Colin did a fantastic job portraying his doctor as written. However, I think part of the problem people have with the sixth doctor is that, while he had his share of good stories, the sixth doctor was plagued by some of the worst writing in the shows history. Also, as written, the sixth doctor is incredibly abrasive and very unlikeable on the surface. He takes some getting used to and they never really gave the Sixth doctor a chance to evolve as a character
@LadyNeferankh sadly there are some missing episodes from the first and second doctor's era. 108 episodes in fact. also, by 'episodes, i mean the episodes which make up a serial/story
My family used to love to watch this show and Colin was the only Dr. Who that I really knew and I loved the quirky costume and I've since seen some of the others, but Colin is my favorite, maybe because he was the first one I saw. Anyway, I always enjoyed this show.
I think Colin Baker was great as the Doctor. At least he gave it, his all. I do not think any of the actors who played the Doctor were bad in the role (Paul McGann's problem was he was in a production catered to us Americans, where the pacing was made for an American audience, and the show fell apart). Towards the end, I got tired of Tennant but I never tired of Baker.
@bluejeckett Nah, in my opinion Sylvester was playing a character who wasn't really "The Doctor" (much like what Chris Eccleston did, except with even less finesse), and, unlike Colin Baker, was often subject to bouts of atrocious overacting (See "Happiness Patrol" laughing scene for example). All this stuff about manipulating events and setting up elaborate traps for enemies in the 7th doctor seems to me a contradiction of what the character previously stood for.
I met colin himself! wonderfull man me and my brother dressed up as him when we met him! my bro wore the colourfull outfit and I wore the real time! he said we looked better than gareth jennkins off "a fix with sonatrans"!!!
I think he's highly underrated - him and Nicola were pretty much the only competent ppl working on the show back then, and they still managed to make their episodes funny and entertaining. He lookend kida cute, too.Luv that hair. And I think that Six and Peri were one of the greatest dream-teams ever, second only to Eleven and Amy.
He kept growing his hair too. First like the guard on Arc Of Infinity and longer after that. I saw in a press photo which was featured in Dr. Show Magazine that he was growing a beard. It showed Mel with a pair of shears over his new beard.
@MysteronAgent Colin Baker was bloody ace as Bayban, in Blake's Seven and he in my view should have been cast as Blake in Blake's Seven and Colin have have been a ten billion ten times better Blake than Gareth Thomas Colin Baker would have stuck around an dnot buzzed off after two seasons like Gareth Thomas did .
u do no that the 6th doctor had his own version of the theme tune??? it was only heard in 1986, during trial of a time lord and can easily b downloaded. search 4 it on google!
Are you serious? Colin Baker's daughter? I met him about 2 weeks ago, he was really nice. I haven't seen much of the old Doctor Who series, but he's my friend's favorite, and he's a huge fan.
his doctor was seriously underrated! i remember not likin him! but in recent yrs! i watched his episodes! n theyr actualy pritty good! i prefer him over sylvester mccoy now! who id say was the worst doctor! tho i feel that is largely due to writing!
I agree, those Big Finish Audios with Colin are excellent, far better than the majority of the TV episodes he had to put up with, but he was showing greatness in Trial of a Timelord, then Dr. Who got canned and Colin was fired. :(
other then the mostly crappy stories and clown suit (both of which were JNT's fault, listen to the 6th dr's audios if you don't believe me) Colin was a cool doctor, plus, if you really look closely you can see that the 6th doctor and the 10th doctor both have the same instabilty.
I think COlin Baker should have been cast, as Blake in B7 and he would have been ace as Blkae in billions of ways.

I'm gonna be the Sixth for Halloween.
I'm working on the outfit, and even though it's a year away, I'm practicing his speech, mannerisms, and actions.
The Sixth, especially after the audio dramas, is MY Doctor ^_^

They should have figured out a way to have Sylvester McCoy regenerate back into Colin Baker.
grahamlaur 1 year ago
@grahamlaur Why would u want Sylvestor to regenerate backwards?
bluejeckett 10 months ago
@bluejeckett Simple: Colin Baker was a superior Doctor.
grahamlaur 10 months ago 3
@grahamlaur Er Sylvestor was just as good if not better than Baker, thats preposterous

Colin Baker was *my* Doctor - a shame he suffered from poor writing and decision-making at the BBC. His audio plays for Big Finish are excellent.
