For those of you who don't understand french:

"Je suis l'époux de la Reine, poux de la Reine, poux de la Reine" can be understood (voluntarily) as :

"I am the spouse of the Queen, louse of the queen, louse of the queen" in french

That's why everybody's laughing at 2'07, although everybody knows already.

It's still so passé-tongue-in-cheek, it's simply cracking.

La version par le choeur et l'orchestre de la Garde républicaine sur France 3 dans "Vive Offenbach" le 20/6/2009 était superbe.

Which production was it from, bujupb? I was in a college production 10 years ago and it's still one of the most fond memories I hold

The production is from the Théâtre Musical De Paris, Châtelet 2000 with Dame Felicity Lott, Yann Beuron, Michel Sénéchal & Laurent Naouri, Les Musiciens Du Louvre & Chorus Of The Musiciens Du Louvre, Marc Minkowski and directed by Laurent Pelly. It's still available on an Arthaus DVD as far as I know.
