Well, I don't blame them - I drank one satchet of pure water one evening on my last trip, and it tasted more like I was having a dash of water with my chlorine.......I went to bed, but I woke up around 3am with dreadful stomach pains, and I ended up vomitting heavily that night.......the next day, I was still seedy, and thereafter I was very selective about the water I drank.......
Don't worry - it wasn't Voltic, have never had a problem with that !
@Ghanapedia Oh bad experience indeed . There is nothing pure about the water. I think the water treatment procedures varies from country to country and that's probably the reason for your suffering after drinking "pure" water. I don't really think there is anything pure about it.
Surprisingly a similar thing happened to me. I didn't vomit but had some terrible "running stomach" .I was shocked because I thought because I was born there, being away for some years won't affect me.
Some pure water is ok, but that one was laced with chlorine........I think in your case, you are now too used to water in these obroni countries now, that the local stuff is too harsh on your stomach.......
I have irritable bowel syndrome, so even at the best of times, my stomach is inconsistent, and when I get something like that happen, it's crippling.....but, actually I have less problems in Ghana, less preservatives, and drink things like coconut juice, which soothes the condition...
@Ghanapedia hahaha I am sure you are used to being called 'obroni'. Coconut juice- nothing better than that. it's unfortunate I have to buy "coconut water" in a can here... am sure it's been processed and reprocessed but tastes similar to the real thing.
I used to think the water out in the west is not so different from the water in Africa... but I was wrong.
"Obroni" pure water has wonderful things like iron, sodium, and flouride in it......everything a growing boy needs.......
I don't even like the fresh coconut here, it isn't totally "fresh", as it needs to be shipped from Thailand, etc.........and they are about $3 each.......that tinned stuff is just terrible, I've tried it before......
The water isn't treated in Ghana like in the west, but there are less chemicals......don't know if that is good or bad !
I think they are local......easily the most well known of the brands available.......you can buy Dasani there as well, which is from the Coca-Cola company....Pepsi also do one as well, but you don't see it around as much.....
Voltic water... everybody drinks this now and less "pure " water.

@Ghanapedia hahahaha thats some good "pure" water then. As for Ghana "pure" water we have thick amounts of chlorine. I wonder if that's even checked.
