I was hit by a car on the interstate at 70 mph. Injuries: Broken right Knee cap, Torn ligaments in both legs (unable to move my legs for 4 weeks), Shattered right Talus, road rash nearly 40% of my body, Broke all metatarsals in right foot, torn ligaments along spine (unable to move spine for 4 weeks). (in fact he would be at considerably less risk to himself but more to others) bikes are dangerous to the individual mostly gear just mitigates some of the injury rather than telling people to get gear all the time they should be telling them what to look out for and how to ride safely thats primary protection, gear is SECONDARY!

For instance - Your passing a car, you see all the signs that he sees you and you proceed with caution, but the car driver comes into your lane and hits you anyways. With gear, you get up very mad and about to chew the person out. Without gear your on the way to the hospital and possibly disabled the rest of your life.
