24 people dont have a heart. How could someone "dislike" a video about a deaf woman giving an outstanding performance in a movie and subsequently wins an Academy Award?!?! It's stupid to think that someone would dislike this!!!

Kathleen Turner was so underrated by the Oscars. Body Heat, Romancing The Stone, Prizzi's Honor, The War of The Roses; just a few of her glorious performances, and all ignored by the Academy. She deserved this win, if not for her great performance then as a consolation. Love you Kathleen!
Don't get me wrong guys, I loved Marlee Matlin's acting very much but Sigourney Weaver was definitely the Best that year!!! Weaver's acting in Aliens was phenomenal. Big shame!
@Magnolia296 Yeah, Weaver just plain kicked ass in Aliens! Especially her emotional moments in the director's cut involving her daughter. I'm surprised that Linda Hamilton didn't even get nominated for Best Actress in Terminator 2. Almost better than Weaver in Aliens!
He really does do the most amazing job of interpreting. He is extremely quick with translating, and he shows a lot of emotion with his voice. He is really great.

Anyway, she should not have won. Her role in the movie was good, but I think it is the speaking that makes an actor believable...she didn't have to do that.
@Sei1863 Her interpreter, Jack, has been working with her for YEARS. They go everywhere together -- they're best friends. She's said in interviews that she'll never work with a better interpreter, so Jack is Marlee's voice. :)
i thought it was a great performance. it really highlighted how much viewers rely on audio from actors to really understand a performance, and i think that's why so many people are iffed by her winning the oscar; it challenges is to watch a performance completely differently.
as for the movie, it was just OK. kind of schmaltzy, but the acting was superb.
William Hurt - What a jerk. Doesn't properly give hand Marlee her Oscar and apparently he was just so cruel and mean to her just because she won an Oscar for this movie and he didn't.
@KristianKronicles The issue is different than her winning and him not. They had been in a relationship after making the movie. The allegation is that Hurt physically abused her. So of course, whether the allegations were widely known at the time or not, Hurt is going to be defensive and aloof.

matlin did a spectacular job in "Children of a lesser God," she was so expressive,

@Sei1863 the interpreter is one she had since she started. i like him. wish he would be my interpreter. lol.

@Sei1863 Her interpreter, Jack, has been working with her for YEARS. They go everywhere together -- they're best friends. She's said in interviews that she'll never work with a better interpreter, so Jack is Marlee's voice. :)

i thought it was a great performance. it really highlighted how much viewers rely on audio from actors to really understand a performance, and i think that's why so many people are iffed by her winning the oscar; it challenges is to watch a performance completely differently.
as for the movie, it was just OK. kind of schmaltzy, but the acting was superb.

William Hurt - What a jerk. Doesn't properly give hand Marlee her Oscar and apparently he was just so cruel and mean to her just because she won an Oscar for this movie and he didn't.

@KristianKronicles The issue is different than her winning and him not. They had been in a relationship after making the movie. The allegation is that Hurt physically abused her. So of course, whether the allegations were widely known at the time or not, Hurt is going to be defensive and aloof.

@zacflem I concur, how such a horrid aspect could lead to claiming that oscar is beond me. I enjoy action aswell romance and i have to say theres is a ton of titles even after and before lesser god outdoes this bland movie.
Whilst aliens really had a strong lead actres and bringing women into a stronger position in scifi and action, all Matlin were was an dull rendition of your basic love goof heroine and they tend to get old rather quick .
