  • 240p, we meet again.

  • I like Sam Neil. He's classy, intellectual & friendly but he also has the abilty to make scary things like black holes even scarier when he uses that slightly creepy voice for dramatic effect. That plus the fact that he played a crazed scientist who actually helped created a man made black hole in the movie: Event Horizon made him the perfect choice to host this show.

  • a black hole!!?? i found one in the white house..... though thats a different kind of "hole" HAHA

  • hold up how is it that the sun is made up of FIRE when FIRE can only stay lit with oxygen?

  • @SOUTHBOUNDTRAPBOYZ combustion isn't the only way energy can be produced, in the Sun energy is produced through nuclear fusion which converts hydrogen into helium and releases energy as Heat and Light.

  • @Slakah42 technically that energy came once from another state in reality, matter can create energy, energy can create matter, but the law of the conservation of energy states energy cannot be created from nothing. the universes total energy including antimatter eqauals out to almost nothing, leaving roads for connected universes, the secrets of heaven may possibly be in the state of energy...conciousness though must play a role in any morally based god or creator. but existence proves creation

  • @SOUTHBOUNDTRAPBOYZ the sun is not made of fire. It's made up of hydrogen.

  • hmm if it tore the sun appart, then in around 8 mins im guessing, the earth would begin its escape!! hazza!

  • what kind of an idiot wouldd think that a black hole could get to us? honestly, the human race would be long dead before the nearest black hole, in Alpha Centauri would actually get near our solar system....

  • Omg were not gonna die like this in this time and age we have basicly absolutly nothing like a blackhole to worry about

  • 3:50 so the black hole drifts through space? So it an object like mass? I always wondered if it was the effect of damaged space an time from massive explosions? I don't know could be wrong.

  • @tkcypruss07 yes, it's an object. a black hole is simply an EXTREMELY massive object that has been squeezed into an EXTREMELY small size because of its own gravity. it's black because its gravity is so strong that not even light can escape after being at a certain distance from the black hole. hope that helps :)

  • @Azarathos Yea but its mass is a singularity

  • Sam Neil... Black holes? Is this Event Horizon 2?

  • Black holes aren't interesting because one might come soaring through the solar system and gobble us all up. Black holes are interesting because at their center is a point of infinite density; they're interesting because things close enough to them are cut off from the rest of the universe forever; in this same space laws of physics really don't apply, and space flows like time.

There are no special effects in the world that will be more interesting than trying to wrap your head around that.

  • It is extraordinarily unlikely that our solar system will be affected by a wondering black hole, and certainly not a supermassive one. We are far more likely to be done in by a comet or asteroid, or even a gamma ray burst. This is pop sci at its shiny worst, sensationalist and, while not actually being too wrong about anything, completely deluding viewers about why certain things are interesting.

  • we don't know yet the Universe,But we trying to understend it,If humans don't do!What creacher will,Maby it's our Desteny ,And maby the only way for Human kinde to live 4ever,before our time on eart is out....!!

  • Only god dose!!

  • its funny that people think they understand the universe when really, no one does.

  • We actually know more about space than we do the oceans..

  • ..... and all thats left is the black hole drifting in space....... is it just me or does that sound like a bad ending to a story anyway all this mombo jumbo sounds fake along with that 1012 stuff.

  • The 2012 stuff most likely is a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Black holes, however, are not.

And if the universe decides that our solar system's story ends in consumption by a black hole, I doubt it has little concern whether we think it's a bad ending or not.

  • You go and write yourself a nice happy ending then. One that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

  • That would freaking be awesome at least until we die that is

  • lol

  • xD i feel like in school

  • imnot scared but it is interesting ok, well i am scared but it is more interesting then scary!

  • Even before a blackhole reaches Earth, it will be long gone by then.

  • Black holes are formed when stellar sized star supernova. Gamma rays induce a chemical reaction in the upper atmosphere, converting molecular nitrogen into nitrogen oxides, depleting the ozone layer enough to expose the surface to harmful solar and cosmic radiation. The gamma ray burst from a nearby supernova explosion has been proposed as the cause of the end Ordovician extinction, which resulted in the death of nearly 60% of the oceanic life on Earth.

  • In the beginning there was THE VOID, that void Filled with Light and Exploded. It Created New VOIDS on a Smaller Scale. Those VOIDS Sucked in The Debris and then became new Stars. Those Stars Eventually Exploded and Created More Minature VOIDS ( Blackholes ). Those Minature VOIDS called Black holes sucked on more Debris and Formed the Galaxies ETC. IT Seems that All Blackholes came from a Singular VOID. and All Black holes Lead to A CENTRAL CORE that creates a New STAR.

  • Where do black holes come from??

  • when a star that at lest 3 times bigger than the sun dies it explodes( supernova) then it turns into a neutron star, then from the inside out it turns into a black hole

  • black holes are zombie stars

  • ahahah

  • Chuck norris would spit at the black hole from earth and the black hole will get tossed across the universe.

  • i will do (( run away ))

  • that would suck bawls if that really happened.

oh well what could you do?

  • there is a super massive black hole at the centre of every galixy without these black holes no galixy could be formed

  • as if the blackhole would know what to choose..

this is all theory, the earth should have been doomed already in the year 2000.. what happened? NOTHING

Its more likely that an astoroid destroys us, than a blackhole eating us up.

  • True that it's a theory only, but Y2K had to do with computers reseting, and launching nukes and what not.

  • That's really sad!

  • wow this is amazing... thanks for posting it!

  • That's extremely depressing.......but good to know.
