She's had to deal with injuries from jumping since 2004. Has never really come back internationally since 2004 Skate America. She's still IMO the most beautiful female skater I've seen.
Hi, thank you for the info. It is a huge loss to the figure skating and to us. I read some other comments and learned that she retired from the competitive stages. Injury is a destroyer. I can't imagine how much of shock, pain & dissapointment she, with such talent, had to go through when the word "retirement" seeped into her. She could still be a very strong & beloved skater even without 3-3 especially under the current rule. I know I should not talk if-things, though...
Beautiful. I did not know there was such an elegant Japanese skater before Mao. Where has she gone? What happened to her???

Her arthro was damaged so she retired amature.
Now she is preparing to comeback as professional skater.
It was truely regretful for Japanese.

Wow. She's great. very artistic and honest techniques. I didn't know her until recently. Did she retire due to injuries? what a loss if she did.
