Bring back loco haulage and un-air-conditioned coaches. You can't call what we have on the network nowadays trains. That sound gives you goose-bumps!! If that isn't what urganomics is all about I don't know what is. Who needed iPods in them days!!!
I was on the morning run with this, but baled at Shotton to have 40044 from Carlisle to Leeds. In the wee small hours of the following morning 40057 worked the Bristol - Glasgow sleepers (load 15) from Preston to Carlisle over the S&C. It wasn't fast, but the NOISE! There were a good few bashers on the train that night, I remember.
Feck me, that takes me back!.. Heady hot days on the N Wales coast.. Would swear I was on that but no sign in the vid... certainly remember one particular driver who seemed to only know two positions for the thrash handle.. wonder if it was the same guy?!..
Was That a Red when pulling out the station ! You got green past the points though !
