You went through like 3 bins and declared it rubbish because of one night? You've never done it before and have no direction on where is a good place to go. Find some freegans in the area and ask if you can tag along to see how they do it and where, and have another go. Don't write something off because one half-baked plan didn't work. But if you expected it to be easy and to never have to actually get in the bin, then again maybe that's all you will find.It takes some time and patience.
