It's funny I came upon this video...I'm active duty Navy, I'm retiring this summer and I am going to use this song in my ceremony..I think it's very appropriate.
Its a "german tune" out of the Matthäus Passion. The name is "O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden", which means "Oh head of blood and wounds". Its from Johann Sebastian Bach, Germany, living from 1685 - 1750)

Sorry, did not saw you comment. Yes, it is original from hassler, but i have doubt the it is earlier from Clairvaux.
