  • who was cleopatra's mother ??

  • Oh and notice how she compared the skull of Ancient Egyptians and "Black Africans" they share enough characteristics to compare, but I won't admit that they are the same or related.

  • It's funny that when she was consider 100% white she was beautiful, cunning, eloquent, and intelligent. Now that they suggest the obvious, that she was African and Macedonian, she is a whore and a killer, how funny the idea of White Supremacy is.

  • @MWCASH2

The only people who didn't know the ruthless side of Cleopatra or of her mixed heritage were those who rarely read a history book and get their fill of history from TV or other ignorant people.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • NO AFRICAN EVER BELIEVED THIS WOMAN WAS A PURE WHITE EUROPEAN WOMAN. UTTER RACIST NONSENSE PERPETUATED BY A WRONGFUL CASTING OF LIZ Taylor IN A WHITE MEDIA BUYING FILM WORLD. DISGUSTING. ITS LIKE MAKING THE UK QUEEN OUT TO BE BLACK.

  • @Raybanmonster So the ancient Greeks wasn´t white? Very astonishing especially considering how we have well documented findings of that time and none of them says they were black.

You have to remember Cleopatra and her Family WASN`T Egyptians They where Greeks direct descendants of Alexander the Great's general, Ptolemy I Soter.

    So no cover up there.

  • @Erikjust Plus even if the theory amongst some scientist that she had African blood in their veins they would still be quite the amount of Greek in them so again if your suggesting that she was as black as the native Africans that´s simply isn´t true.

  • @Erikjust THIS IS ONE WOMAN, IN A DYNASTY THAT SPANNED 10,000YRS NEXT TO THE SUDAN AND THE BLACK PEOPLE OF NUBIA WHO SHARED EXACTLY THAE SAME RACIAL MIX AND LOOK AT THE TRUE EGYPTIANS. IT IS OUTLANDISH TO VIEW THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS AS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A BLACK PEOPLE. DOES THE SPHINX LOOK LIKE BRITTANY SPEARS? LOL

  • oh yeah, Arsinoe was so innocent and died unfair but the truth is, she was as blood-thirsty as her sister. There is no good guy or a bad guy here.

  • Whatever it is, Cleopatra had to kill or get killed. There's nothing bad in this people. It was that time....... and why can't they take Cleopatra's actual bust and try to find out whether she had African features than take a half skull of a girl not confirmed to be her sister?

  • Can one be a queen (or a king) without being a killer?

  • Now she would be consider a whore now days cause, she married Ceasor and Anthony, and she would also be consider a serial killer as well as a pedophile cause she married both brothers.

  • @lilirishsis1 I ment slept

  • Wow!!!!!!

  • and also , ears should be left out of the reconstruction because those are pure speculation , same for lower part of the nose since both are made of softbone and there is no known accurate computer progam in existance that can do anything but speculate, non the less, very cool and defo worth further investigation !

  • Its actually very cool to see this , tho on the reconstruction of the face and NO ill thoughts intended there, her neck looks masculine, female necks have a smooth indenture on both sides , only male necks are straight up from the shoulders to the cranium. Non the less very cool docu

  • So...did love not exist at all in this time period? For your family nor someone else? Maybe they were all phsycopaths....

  • @ChantelleBritney With that much inbreeding that is fairly likely.

  • His accent! :D

  • Cleopatra had 4 children, 2 of whom had children and continued the line. Personally, I think its perfectly possible for her and the others of the ptolemy line to be of mixed descent. The only thing I'm outraged by is how little actual facts are used to support this idea that it is Arsinoe and its based on conjecture and speculation, rather than informed information of contemporary accounts! There's no DNA and no facts, just Roman stories thats not science; thats hearsay.

  • I don't like cloepatra now.

  • Her sister/rival was stuck in a religious sanctuary guarded by eunuch priests, How the bleep could this girl been a problem to Cleopatra?

That the writers of this piece had a beef against Cleopatra is a given, And using the "testimony' of a roman historian of 200 years after, sheesh, of COURSE that one would want to blacken Cleo's name even more. She nearly managed to beat Rome.at their own game.

  • @LadyGillian It's because the fear that her sister could rise up again and challenge Cleopatra. That is why in every new regime or reign..the last monarch is killed even if they are no longer a threat. Their rule cannot ever be legitimizated by the remaining member that can cause problems later in the future if they choose to do so. Cleopatra was just covering her ass more than anything.

  • she was originaly greek, but her greek people have been living in Egypt for over 300 years and that makes her fully fledged Egyptian, the same as someone Irish immigrate to america and his great grand childeren become fully fledged americans. the greeks came to egypt and saw a civilization far older and superior to their's so they aspired to be Egyptians and to adapt egyptian culture which is also superior to the greek one.

  • scotland is the greatest country on earth, and scottish the sexiest language!!

  • From early civilizations, humans had mix up, so I just got to the conclusion that we are all mixed in this periods. People that fight about racism, are indeed ignorants of all human history.

No one knows for sure all ancestry, unless you come from freaks in that aspect, but that doesn't really mean you're not mixed.

What about if in all atmospherical disasters, wars, illnesses and all has happened, mixing was necessary for life? I mean, emigrating has always happened. There's 2 much 2 uncover.

  • @TALIALASHAE1991 they just hate it though, but I'm afraid ass long as hate is around we will never live to see the truth, but our brothas and sister of the future will

  • @TALIALASHAE1991 the thing is your ain't gonna know because the people who broadcast that shit is white. There are some whites that will tell you us the truth, and do believed we've accomplished more that slavery. Answer this, when in school do they ever teach us African history besides slavery. It's a huge cover up, and sometimes I just want to hurt them. What pissed me off they put a Afro on a Arab dude. People tend to copy our race, and don't do a good job at doing it.

  • Why is it called "Cleopatra: A Portrait Of A Killer" when it's about Arsinoa?

  • Look at Dr. Fabian not able to keep his hands off the skull lol

  • Ptolemy XII had Pompey beheaded in front of his wife and children in order to attempt to gain Ceasar's favor. Yeah, killing people was part of politics back then (more openly). Delving a little further into the history here, there's a myriad of poisonings and assassinations among royal families (especially in Egypt). I disapprove of the strict vilifying of her character. In such a time, with such Catch22's everywhere, I think Cleopatra at least tried to keep Egypt alive for as long as she could.

  • Its sad that some people are just a color. Normal people are so much more than that.

  • why would the take her skull, europeans always invading shit

  • @90rashad They took her skull because they knew she had more African features they didn't want any one finding out.

  • @Jessica35771 I know they are insecure

  • very nice video Where did you get this video ? when was it aired

  • They May have had "African Blood"...DUN DUN

  • I would like to add that Arsinoe was Cleopatra's HALF SISTER, so Arsinoe's mother could've been Egyptian, or could've been a slave, who knows, the point is that just because Arsinoe was mixed, doesn't mean Cleopatra was, if her coins and commisioned portraits are accurate, and they most likely are, then she probably wasn't mixed and definetely wasn't black.

  • @LaSerpentaCanta no it doesn't but it disproves the notion that the Ptolemies were sexually engaged with Egyptians which scholars use to deny for what ever reason. coins and portraits are idealised, but there is a statue that indicates Cleo VII could have been mixed u can find that in Sally Ann Ashton's video on youtube for more details.

  • @XuanDi the thing about the coins is that they were personally approved by Cleopatra herself, so they were either a true likeness, or they definetely symbolized the way Cleopatra wanted to portray herself. I just don't see any reason she wouldn't want to portray herself as a mixed race, other than her not being mixed, but white/mediterranean. Either way the coins are the only reliable portraits, and she looks white.

  • @LaSerpentaCanta well she would do a mixed rep. to appeal to both sides. She did do that, in Egypt she was Egyptian, in the egyptian sculptures she looks like she could be mixed, but then again a person of mixed descent can have a variety of features so shes not neccessarily "black" or "white". Those coins were meant to a Greek audience, but when they tried to reconstruct that nose on a Egyptian portrait it was wasn't porportional it was meant to be broader. And the ROmans saw her as an Egyptian

  • @XuanDi ugh, those were Egyptian coins mind you. Why would she issue coins for a greek audience, she didn't have any control over greece. And there are no actual Egyptian portraits of Cleopatra besides the coins, just some hieroglyphics wich of course were never really accurate.

  • @LaSerpentaCanta Lol go cry now.

  • Egyptian royal family began with a friend of Alexander the great

  • Cleo had kids with both Marc Antony and Julius caesar, caesar jr was murdered by Augustus( no caesar heir could cause a rule problem) and cleo's daughters were taken in by Augustus ' sister so Cleo 's bloodline did continue but it was the male bloodline that ended

Not much is known what happened to cleopatra's daughters

  • omg! ive been looking for this video when it aired! thank you!! haha now i have all the info i need to write my research paper on Cleopatra.

  • This documentary was amazing!thank you for posting it on youtube!!!

  • It's also interesting how people are referring to the term "mixed race" I thought as long as you had black blood you are basically black?Did the rules change all of a sudden?? Come people, admit it

  • haha! "ancient egyptians same shape heads as africans" looool! Does that not tell u something

  • wait i thought her children with mark antony survived sure they didn't go againest the roman empire when they grew up

  • This documentary is not 100% correct. Cleopatra wasn't a beauty, had Greek/Macedonian blood and they don't describe the double suicide.

  • the music at 6:21 onwards, especially 7:13 to 7:19 sounds very familiar, did they use that in one of the mummy films?. either way, I wish there was a way to download just the music without the commentary in the background.

  • Markie Anthony killed Cleo's sister...

which may or may not be true.

I feel tony screwed ugly Cleo for power.

And fell in love with Cleo's pretty sister.

Tony killed her like OJ killed Nicole.

  • Cleo was a traitor. You moron's who look at actors... playing a part... and think... that you're seeing the truth. are schmucks. America is finished... just by showing actors... playing a part... and written by the victors. Cartoons.
  • She is beautiful

  • who is playin the half sister coz she is fine when dressed in white who eles thinks sooo???

  • Seriously dodgy history for starters; also, claiming that the skeleton in the tomb must be Arsinoe because of the evidence cited is like taking 2 + 2 and deciding it equals 22. Anyone with any serious knowledge of this period will be pretty annoyed by the spurious claims of this programme.

  • @EimeoMoon But there is evidence that suggests it could be Arisnoe's grave and remains.

  • @EimeoMoon Actually the history and the facts presented aren't so dodgy - but the presentation most definitely is, not to say sensational and misleading. It would have been fun but for the misdirection a-la-CNN.

  • The Ptolemy lineage is muddled with illegitimate children of mixed races. This doc was made because they found what may very well be the bones of Arsinoe's Cleopatra's half-sister -- and they found her to be of mixed race.

You might say, "This is totally speculative!" Well, so are the facts that tell us Cleopatra was all-white. The truth is, nobody knows for sure. And frankly, I'm a bit disturbed by how people are outraged or dismissive of the claim that she was of mixed decent.

  • @gokinsmen Don't be: the Ptolemies practiced sibling marriage as well as being Greek in origin. In plain English: they were highly in-bred.

  • @gokinsmen I'm more disturbed at the people who willingly dismiss forensic and archeological evidence in support of the theory that she was black or mixed to support their own racial agendas and racial insecurities. All evidence points to her having white/mediterranean ethnicity, wich hystorically makes sense for her dynasty was macedonian, and the coins minted in her time with portraits approved by herself clearly show a caucasian woman with a long nose, thin lips and straight hair.

  • @gokinsmen how do people know Arsinoe was of mixed ethnicity? When they reconstructed her likeness, she looked caucasian, with a thin nose and lips and oval face, they just darkened her hair and her skin to make her look ethnic, I have no idea why because nothing points to her being mixed. People, or black people, really need to stop hijacking ancient egyptian culture as their own because it is not. Ancient Egyptians weren't even black and the blacks who lived there were foreigns, the Hyksos and

  • @LaSerpentaCanta Lol, you can go cry. I know it hurts to know that Julius Caesar and Mark Antony were attracted to a half black woman. Go cry. Lol Egypt is in AFRICA therefore it is BLACK!! LOL

  • the Nubians, and when they weren't in charge during intermediate periods between dynasties, they were most certainly slaves, so all this political faux correctness needs to stop because it's muddling history and the facts.

  • @gokinsmen Totally agree. However, what I find even more disturbing is that people are so vapid and lacking in self-esteem that historical figures have to be the battle-ground for what they lack inside. It's all just pure desperation. Let history be and let the present be the garbage that it is.

Cleopatra being all-white, part black, mixed-race, 1/8 Mexican, or part banana isn't going to meaningfully change your life one iota.

  • @g1a1r1y3 True statement to ignorance being the propagator of this myth, but let me correct you on why it matters(your statement to gokinsment); imagery is important in the formation of values, drive/determination, and the ability to deferentiate that which can be obtained from the unobtainable. Case in point, ,your comment to me was that people do not read and are basicall educated by tv(imagery) which has a high propensity so show African Americans as wild, ignorant,...

  • @g1a1r1y3 (continued) can't-wait- to- get- back-in-jail, shiftless, baby making, baffoons. When the positive images of strength, fortitiude, and intelligence are the subject matter, history is all to remiss in representing the darker hue in this light. This inequality in self image makes the basic mission of living life a challange as blacks face not only the basic needs that all humans have, providing form themselfves/family physically/spiritually/emotionally, but battling the...

  • @g1a1r1y3 (continued) the right to be consider a man, a human being, a person with feelings. This is why what happened thousands of years ago is important, because people want PROOF in this court room of life, as skewed statistics are weighted against the soul of the black man everyday.

  • @MWCASH2

I somewhat agree. History matters and knowing the truth matters. However, people want to take "ownership" of history and people and this is where I diverge. The worth and value of a people come from their actions and behavior not whether some historical figure was of a particular ethnicity. The Yugoslavs went to war for this same clash of visions and many other places in the world are still in conflict because of it. History has is purpose an duses, but not this one.

  • @g1a1r1y3 We should take ownership because if we don't reflect on how good/bad we can be, we will continue to make the same mistakes.

  • @MWCASH2

Most people I know have no interest because the history of some people or regions because "... it is not our history...". Ownership creates a problem for those who can't, or don't want to, claim ownership.Like whites in reference to African history or blacks to European history. Responsibility to history does not require ownership. It just requires interest, an open mind, and diligence- among other things.

  • @g1a1r1y3 It's a good thing that most people you know are a microscopic representation of the World.

  • this was just on the histry channel but they edited out the anouncer

  • thanks for the upload

  • Arsinoe was only Cleopatra's Half Sister, Cleopatra's Mother had been removed as Queen before Arsinoe was born.

  • @JaredThaJa

Lol, You guys come up with any excuse! LOOOOOOOOOOOL, Sad! Just face it, they were "Sistahs" We tried to tell you stubborn folks! lol

  • @carmen jones 411 No, just knowledgeable of History, Cleopatra's Mother is well known, her ancestry goes back unbroken in every line to Ptolemy V and Cleopatra I, the only non Caucasian DNA she could have carried is Persian, through the Seleucid dynasty.

  • @JaredThaJa Correct.

  • cleopatras sister looked like my egyptian friend rehab..in side view

  • it aired just now, but i missed it so im watching it here
