  • If your against gay love UR against love DX

  • That is actually so true! If your against gay marriage your against love PERIOD!

  • This was shown like decades ago, and still so little has changed in peoples mind, and government attitudes... SAD...

  • I despise when people use the words 'God and hate' in the same sentence. DON'T YOU KNOW ANYTHING?!!!!

  • To think this was filmed.. what 20 years ago

and still the issue is being debated. Stupid really...

  • Men have nipples because we are all mammals. Even though nipples are vestigial organs, pincher clothespins have their place!

  • greatest show evar

  • We all love them for doing this, all those years ago. Peace, love and radical acceptance.

  • I love them for this. <3 Golden Girls

  • Wish we could all follow Sophia's way of thinking. I believe the world would be a funnier, better place.

  • Hmm, I've always liked this show but didn't realize it was this far ahead of its time...

  • Maybe someone should send this to the Australain Goverment and Opposition :(

  • @AuslandCharlie Why? I'm sure the lovely people of Austria dont' want homosexual marriage imposed on them.

  • @bachmann4president No one is having "homosexual marriage imposed on them." Do you think you're going to be forced to marry someone of the same sex? Of course considering your user name, I think you'd believe just about anything.

  • @bachmann4president -- You do realize that same-sex marriage would only be legal, not compulsory, right?

  • @bachmann4president Well I don't want heterosexual marriage imposed on me. Does that mean that no heterosexual people should be allowed to marry?

  • @bettythorny I know quite a few examples to use why heterosexual marriage literally is destroying america!

  • @bachmann4president Australia, honey. Austria is a different country.

  • "Why do men have nipples?" Oooh, I know, I know!

  • Sophia is supposed to be a devout Catholic in the show. I know in real life that she and Bea Arthur are both Jewish.

  • SODOM AND GOMORRAH !

  • Wow... they had the right idea all those years ago! Respect!

  • Wait didn't Blanche's brother have a wife in the later episodes? I recall seeing her at his funeral and not a man...

  • @childishluv Are you thinking of Dorothy's cross-dressing brother Phil?

  • @childishluv that was dorothys brother....blanche only had the gay brother and he never died

  • Fictional TV character are just that - fictional. and everything they say is carefully scripted by someone to reflect their bias. To attribute this as though it was thought of and said by a real person and not a fictional character is kind of silly. Now if you want to quote the show's writers...LOL.

  • @judyannreed Only people quote fictional characters all the time. I mean, thats part of being able to appreciate a play, book or movie. I mean just look at Christians, that ALL they do when quote scripture.

  • I'm rewatching this in honor of New York legalizing gay marriage tonight. It's a little sad that a fictional TV character is more understanding, accepting, and loving than some people I know today, even 20+ years later.

  • @emkayluhh - thank christian fundamentalists for that!! im just glad that state after state is finally recognizing it as legal

  • i miss the golden girls

  • What year was this? Curious, it seems old, but greatr message...

  • @milkyway531 I think it was 1987 or 1988

  • Wow this was ahead of its time!

Now if the argument presented in this clip is that marriage is based on love then any two people in love could get married right? Like a brother and a sister.

  • @fegu One of the purposes of marriage is to create a family. Brother and sister are already family.

  • @Permaglo well put.

  • @fegu Hell, if a brother and sister are into each other like that, who cares? Pretty much the same thing as any other couple; nobody's business but theirs.

  • @fegu Familial love is not the same as romantic love, genius.

  • • epidemiological studies from Vancouver tabulated between 1987 & 1992 reveals that male homosexual & bisexual lost up to 20 years of life expectancy. The study concluded that if 3 percent of the population studied were gay or bisexual, the probability of a 20-year-old gay or bisexual man living to 65 years was only 32 percent, compared to 78 percent for men in general. The damaging effects of cigarette smoking pale in comparison.."Leading Causes of Death," CDC News Release, Oct 10, 2001

  • @ironmyshirts If those numbers are true, and let's assume they are, you ever wonder why? Maybe because many didn't have the benefit of a long-term monogamous relationship? We should encourage gays and lesbians to get married. Married people are proven to live longer. Constantly telling homosexuals what bad, disgusting, evil people they are only causes depression and other problems. But maybe that's the goal so people like you will have nasty statistics to throw in their faces.

  • @Permaglo Also, don't you love when people mention the nasty statistics about HIV in gay men as proof that homosexuality should be banned, but suddenly go quiet or change the subject when you mention the fact that lesbians actually have the lowest rate of stds and HIV, lower then their heterosexual counterparts?

  • Five people are mad that Sophia didn't ask them for their hand in marriage.

  • Very inspiring

  • wow, I didn't know Golden Girls was so ahead of its time. My all time favorite comedy.

  • what episode was this?

  • @leatopia "Sister of the Bride," Ep 14 Season 6

  • Marriage equality for ALL??? People I have spoken to (who believe in so-called marriage equality for all) do not endorse polygamy (among consenting adults) or brother/sister or mother/son marriage (consenting adults). So much for equality for "ALL"!!!!!

  • @broyomama But members of those groups you mention can get married to SOMEONE. A polygamist might not be able to have the quantity of spouses he desires, but he can at least have one. Someone is usually not ONLY attracted to family members, so millions of other potential spouses are available. Someone who is gay is restricted from marrying ALL potential partners he could fall in love with.

  • @Permaglo Actually, there is right now complete equality in marriage. A straight single male can marry any consenting female. So can a gay single male. Total and absolute equality. If a gay single male wants to marry another male, then that is a different topic, and worthy of discussion. But equality in marriage exists right now.

  • @broyomama I want the right to get married to someone I fall in love with. I'm a gay male, so that's only going to be another man. So if your idea of a marriage is simply a legal contract between 2 members of opposite sexes devoid of any love or commitment, then I guess you're right. However marriage is a lot more than that, and as the law stands right now I am barred from participating in it. Heterosexuals have the right to marry someone they fall in love with. I am refused that right.

  • @Permaglo You are simply incorrect. Heterosexuals positively cannot marry anyone they fall in love with. For example, if I fell in love with my first cousin, I could not marry her in quite a number of states. There are a myriad of other scenarios. I can only marry a person within the strict confines of the law - and so can you. And, I certainly do not think marriage is a contract devoid of love (not sure where you got that). Anyway, I think I understand your underlying point.

  • @broyomama I didn't say "anyone," I said "someone." The ONLY way I can currently participate in legal marriage is to marry someone I could never fall in love with or commit to (i.e. a woman). Marrying someone, anyone that I would want is prohibited.

  • @broyomama

You are simply the most baffling human that ever will or can comment on this video. What in the name in all that is rotten in a lobotomy baboon girl's head are you spouting??? Go take a Human Sexuality class and start using that pink watery thing in your head. You clearly do not understand basic human nature.

  • @broyomama The same "equality in marriage" argument was used to promote bans on interracial marriage (that everyone had the equal right to marry within the same race). That argument failed in Loving v. Virginia as unconstitutional, and for good reason. Individuals, not groups, have rights - and each person has the right to marry the person they love.

  • @Permaglo I just wanted to say you're awesome. :)

  • @kilupirukas Thanks!

  • God hates fags. Always has, always will. God will destroy any nation that tolerates that filthy lifestyle. America is doomed.

  • @MaryWaterton You wanna know what God hates more than fags Mary - self-righteous morons like yourself. But you wouldn't know anything about God, would you? If knuckle-dragging neanderthals like you have or get any control over this nation, then yes, it will be doomed.

  • @Permaglo

    Thumbs up!!!

  • @MaryWaterton god doesn't destroy nations, he destroys worlds. So I guess we're all doomed, eh? Including you.

  • @MaryWaterton God LOVES Gays. That is why he made them. You idiot. People like you will burn in hell.

  • @MaryWaterton What a very Christ-like statement, so full of love and acceptance, completely non-judgmental. Someone must have done something horrible to you to make you such a hateful and hate-filled person. Do us all a favor and keep your vile bigotry to yourself.

  • @MaryWaterton Lex Luthor hates Superman. Lex Luthor will destroy anything that stands between him and killing Superman forever.

Odin hates ice giants. Odin will destroy any nation that lets them in.

Darth Vadar hates rebels. Darth Vadar will destroy any planet that tolerates their ilk.

Moriarty hates Holmes. Moriarty will kill anyone in his way to get Holmes.

Fictional character hates someone else. Fictional character will destroy anyone who treats those it hates with humanity.

  • Golden Girls putting it down. :D This was the way they balled.

RIP, and thanks for all the laughs, and REAL molars.

  • what episode is this from?

  • there are times i Hate death...now is one of them times

  • Marriage should be between a man and a woman I think. Marriage is more than just love and commitment; it's also a religious thing so atheists shouldn't be able to marry either lol. Civil unions are ok tho because Their not based on religion.

  • @CreepyboyProductions Um no. Marriage was not started by religion.

  • @CreepyboyProductions Actually the origin of marriage has nothing to do with religion and it's way older than most religions that exist today!

  • @CreepyboyProductions

Marriage isn't a religious thing, it is a LEGAL thing.

  • well she sure changed her mind quick.

  • instead of sparking debate over the morality of what is right and wrong and what is good and bad and what god approves of or what he doesnt.....

look past the controversy and enjoy the show

  • i disagree with there pnt (not the pnt that everyone deserves someone to grow old with) but funny skit

  • OH THOSE GIRLS

  • contd... (3) This means that perfect partnership requires some level of difference as well as a level of similarity so great that Adam could cry out loudly, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh". Sexual intimacy between a man and a woman is the normal method of male/female bonding (emotionally and physically) because it corresponds to the design of our bodies and because it is the normal means by which offspring are created.

  • @TamilianPonnu I'm assuming there was more to your post. You seem to be saying that heterosexual relationships are the only "normal" ones, which is convenient if you are heterosexual. But let's say for argument that being gay was "normal" and you were straight. Would you A) Spend years futilely fighting your heterosexuality in hopes of becoming homosexual? B) Spend the rest of your life alone and celibate? or C) Realize that "normal" is relative and accept your heterosexuality?

  • @G6157 1987, I believe. I wish everyone would just understand this simple message :(

  • Such an amazing show! It's just sad that people still can't come to terms with what these ladies understood over 20 years ago :(

  • Love in its purest form, a binding legal contract and two rings.

  • This was great and the Golden Girls is still one of my favorites to watch even now. They did so much to enlighten us all!

  • Awww, I love the Golden Girls. That's just the thing to cheer me up.

  • We do not want government in control of marriage. We need to start treating each other as humans. Government free marriage is the pathway to equality. Government should have no control over religion or marriage. Leave marriage to the religions or to the people to freely contract with one another.

  • This episode was way ahead of its time! Leave it to the Golden Girls, especially Sophia, to put this "hot-button" issue into such clear and unequivocal perspective. Thank you, ladies. This world has been a colder place since your passing!

  • hee hee... i love Sophia. wise, witty, and sassy. best character on any show.

  • Civil unions for gay couples only codifies discrimination.

  • I love you, Sofia

    you make things all better

  • Why DO men have nipples?

  • @NickMB B/c women do-it's that simple. Males and females are the same - if one has one thing, the other has it as well. We all start out as female and the different hormones make us male or female. In puberty, estrogen causes the breast to develop. In the womb, testosterone causes the the labia to fuse to form the scrotum, the ovaries descend and become the testis, the clitoral hood to become the foreskin, and the clitoris to be the penis. We have the same parts, they just developed differently.

  • @NickMB It's an evolutionary rest.

  • iv never seen this show. but this clip is cute.

  • Long live the words of Sophia Petrillo. I had almost forgotten about this episode and how progressive, really, "Golden Girls" was on the issue of gay rights long before "Roseanne", "Ellen", and "Will & Grace" ever hit the scene. BRAVO!

  • I always laugh at how heterosexual cry..."THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE!!!" Yet most of them get divorced, remarried...multiple times! What a joke. Two people that love each other should be able to get married, PERIOD.

  • @PsychLion Well said. Also don't forget about the how the 'sanctity of marriage' is also shown in those quickie 5 minute Vegas chapels. I just can't understand why saying two people (of any gender) shouldn't be able to spend their lives together if they truly love each other is wrong. Love is never wrong.

  • Sophia was the best

  • This is brilliant! I love Sophia!

  • I miss this show so much - they hit the nail right on the head with this one.

  • what episode is this ?

  • @StewartDoran It's in season six. Called "Scared Straight I believe.

  • @stormyquin Season 6, Ep 14 - "Sister of the Bride"

  • "shut your mouth" is the ANTI education, and the ANTI social skills.

we're not taught to HIDE here, we're ecouraged to OPEN our mouths, and actually communicate and interact and learn in a multicultural setting.

  • some 80 year old woman wearing 1940s style glasses, dressed for church is more forward thinking than some 20 year olds that I met.

    lmao

  • To every homophobe commenting pointless, hateful shit on here, stfu & go play in traffic. Let us gays fight for what we believe in, we don't really care wether you like it or not.

  • Thank you for posting this. Brought a wee bit sunshine to my day :0)

  • All golden girls seasons are on DVD and I guarantee every show was seriously taken and very hilarious. Enjoy.

  • this show was before its time great stuff!

  • leave it to the golden girls to set things right.

  • At 1:20 it cuts like a hot knife through butter. Really wish I saw this episode.

  • I love that old granny, she seem to be more understanding than that woman.

    This clip is hilarious.

  • I love GG and I love the ladies who played them. They were all gay rights supporters, and so ahead of their time.

At a time when Reagan was in office and the height of the HIV panic and the related homophobia, the show was willing to cover issues such as HIV and gay issues. The show (and the ladies in real life) consistently challenged peoples negative feelings regarding these things. Thank you so much Golden Girls. xxx

  • I love Sophia. haha...will you marry me?

  • Love this video! This must have been one of the first shows to touch upon the subject of marriage equality.

  • There's an episode much later than this one, possibly it was a Golden Palace episode instead, I'm not sure. One of Blanche's relations...I don't know, maybe a son...comes to visit her with some kind of problem, I forget what the problem was, but before he can even tell her what's going on she's like "oh you're gay it's fine I understand" lol. And he's like "no, no, that's not it at all, I'm not gay" and she says "oh course you arrrrrre" LOL I assume it was a play on eps like this.

  • 2:30 PM Get forty winks of beauty rest to prevent facial wrinkles from stress of world conquest 4:00 PM Cocktails 6:00 PM Light Dinner (soup, salad, with Chardonnay) 8:00 PM Theater 11:00 PM Bed (du jour)?

  • This episode really was ahead of it's time. Gay marriage wasn't legal anywhere in the world at this point if I remember.

  • All the world's problems have been resolved on at lease one of the Golden Girls episodes.

  • Thanks girls for always being a friend!!!

  • Why DO men have nipples? I'll show ya...

  • As always...The Golden Girls was ahead of its time

  • lmfaoo...why do men have nipples!

  • @womanizer0690 i had always heard that the four of them were into gay rights, especially bea arthur. i mean the show had a pretty strong gay fanbase and had many gay guest characters and just talked about gays and lesbians at a time when many were still not open to speaking about, well, openly.

  • oh sophia:)

  • Thank you Sophia! Simple and right to the point :)

  • damn it, I laughed. Now I'm gay.

  • i always loved that episode, the one thing that was real nice about that show was there wasnt any really any homophobea which was nice i cant stand homophobia thanks for uploading i seen this episode recently

  • I always knew I loved Sophia. Now I have one more reason to. :)

  • what a great way to say its all about love! we love you sophia and blanche.

  • I love(d) The Golden Girls so much and it really is so depressing that we have already lost three of them!

And now Betty White is never ever allowed to die!

It was so funny and filled with little gems like this moment that say a lot, especially since it aired more than two decades ago!

  • Such a funny scene, actually I heard somewhere that the reason why men have nipples. Is because everyone is born as a girl for the first 6 months and then if it's a boy, they start turning into a boy after those 6 months. But that's just what I heard.

  • ah the golden girls. RIP blanche <3:(

  • ahahha i love Sophia.

  • This clip just says it all so simply. I had forgotten how much I loved this series!

  • Rest in Peace Blanche! My mothers favorite quote from her was:

Dorthy: Theres a man in the lawn

    Blanche: Quick, Get the net!!!

  • FINALLY! someone gets it!

  • lol that was funny!!! And True.

  • Brilliant! The Golden Girls were ahead of their time:)

  • what season /episode is this ? message me please. thanks

  • Gawds, why do the greatest videos and clips bring about such a cascade of debate and hatred?

This is a great clip, and I'll be referencing the quotes the next time I'm asked about gay marriage and why I'd want to marry the person I love. Yay for the Golden Girls, and thanks for uploading it!

  • @BelieveIt1051 Monogamy isn't a gay thing...or a straight thing...it is an individualist thing. Blacks cheat, whites cheat women cheat, men cheat...gays cheat....lol. Anybody can cheat.

  • @BelieveIt1051 What will you do with your time once gays can marry? We are not the ones hurting marriage. Didnt you hear...in MA in the last 5yrs the divorce rate went down to pre WWII levels...after they allowed gay marriage.

It appears that gay marriage IS the defense of marriage!

  • 1 Samuel 18:1,3

"And it came to pass, when he [David] had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul . . . And Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul."

And immediately afterward, Jonathan disrobed before David.

Only the covenant of marriage has you getting naked after making it!

  • Wrong. Jonathan disrobed because he was armed, and David had just been accepted into Saul's service. Therefore, David needed a robe, armor, sword, bow, and girdle. So the act of Jonathan giving him his cloths signified acceptance into Saul's service as well as his "family", because Jonathan was Saul's son, and now David was like a son to Saul as well. Getting naked in front of those of the same sex was nothing so long as you weren't homosexual.

  • The covenant between him and David was that of brothers. They loved each other like brothers would. If you are suggesting that they had some kind of romantic/physical/sexual act going on, then I must say you're a Biblical illiterate. Not only did Saul marry his first born daughter Merab off to David, but both David and Jonathan had their own sons with their own respective wives. When they parted ways they sword to keep God between them, and so it would be so for Jonathan's seed and David's seed.

  • @BelieveIt1051 1 Samuel 18:4

"Jonathan divested himself of the mantle he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his military dress, and his sword, his bow and his belt.

Jonathan was not only disrobing, but was turning the symbols of his manhood over to David. This draws a very clear picture of what is happening here.

  • @BelieveIt1051 1 Samuel 20:41

" . . . they [David and Jonathan] kissed one another, and wept one with another . . . "

Here they are displaying a deep affection for one another, and showing an emotional attachment well beyond what would be shown by two heterosexuals in a similar situation. They actually weep together because of their upcoming forced separation.

  • That's because they were best friends, and brothers in the Lord. How would you feel if you and your brother were to be separated? And ya know, up until the 1920's men kissed other men as a sign of friendship. Homosexuals ruined that.

And perhaps you aren't reading my posts. David was married to Mirab, Jonathan's sister. Jonathan was also married and had a son. So this homosexual fantasy of yours is just that, your fantasy.

There's nothing wrong with having love for another of the same sex.

  • @BelieveIt1051

"thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women!" They wept, they got naked....thats gay marriage!

Gay men have never been married to women for other reasons than being attracted to them....LOL

  • Neither one of them got naked. Jonathan took his own armor and weapons off and gave them to David to wear. That does not imply that Jonathan was completely nude, and even if he was, it doesn't mean David lusted after him.

You're making stuff up in your own head. Face it.

  • @BelieveIt1051

Spin it how ever you want. It says they disrobed....that means they UNDRESSED!

He turned over his symbols of manhood to a man he made a covenant with.

    They kissed and wept.

    THAT'S GAY MARRIAGE!

  • @BelieveIt1051 Yeah, men who are married to women are NEVER gay. :)

  • @BelieveIt1051 2 Samuel 1:26

[After Jonathan's death, David said,] "I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women."

As you can see, they were very much in love. The Bible shows them kissing one another -- not a normal activity for heterosexual men. To make sure you don't miss the sexual aspect, the love is compared (favorably, by the way) with the love of a woman.

  • 2 Samuel 1:26

[After Jonathan's death, David said,] "I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women."

As you can see, they were very much in love. The Bible shows them kissing one another -- not a normal activity for heterosexual men. To make sure you don't miss the sexual aspect, the love is compared (favorably, by the way) with the love of a woman.

  • @neenerpuss My friend, your command of scripture (to borrow a phrase from To Kill a Mockingbird) is extremely formidable! I LOVE how you refuted that fool's arguments with such panache. :) Great work!

  • I love making people make stupid comments. It shows those not sure what to think that one side has a rational view and the other side will use what ever pops into their head to scare people and hurt others.

And the greatest of these is LOVE!

  • @neenerpuss People like Believe have nothing better to do than involve themselves in other people's lives because they have no life of their own. Nothing you say will ever register with him. It just gives him an excuse to regurgitate his BS. But yeah, people are seeing through that BS and understanding that gay people are no different than straight people.

  • @Permaglo I know he's a lost cause. I do it show just how irrational the otherside of the argument is. So others will see it for what it is....hate and discrimination.

  • Excuse me, but I didn't involve myself with your life. You did. You're the one trying to redefine marriage. So if you don't want people like me "in your life" then stop trying to destroy our great country's sacred institutions.

  • @BelieveIt1051 You have an unhealthy obsession with gays without really even truly knowing any. You use whatever irrational opinions you can find to validate your sick prejudice. If it wasn't marriage equality, you'd be trying to take some other right away.

Heterosexuals are what's destroying marriage, not gays. But that proves that you and your kind could care less about marriage because there's no movement to ban or limit divorce.

Have a nice life. Maybe I'll invite you to my wedding. :)

  • Like it or not....the definition of Marriage...has already changed. Check any current dictionary. Seems that like many other words Marriage has MULTIPLE meanings. Words like web, coat, nail, chick, mouse, case and light all have more than 1 meaning....marriage NOW includes a same sex coupling! It will not destroy this country...IT WILLSAVE IT!

  • Believe, your broken record is getting REALLY old. Sooner or later all 50 states will allow gays to get married so deal with it. That won't be hard since your life won't be affected in the least by it.

Your use of the word "deathstyle" sure is clever, just not accurate. There is no one homosexual "lifestyle." Sure there are guys who have unprotected sex with anyone that moves. But many more seek monogamous relationships. Difficult to get a disease when you and your partner are monogamous.

  • 31 states already protect marriage as a 1 man 1 woman union with their constitutions. About 10 more have statutes. You've lost. Marriage will only become more protected, not less. Even if the Supreme Court "overruled" the laws and the legislature did nothing about it, the states would refuse to follow the ruling.

Yeah, that's if they didnt have any STDs going into it, and if they dont cheat on their "spouse". But then there's still the damage that is done by homosexual acts themselves.

  • @BelieveIt1051 Lost? The fight has only begun, and we will never stop until we have true marriage equality. But I agree that marriage will become more protected, and that will happen when all Americans, gay and straight, can get married.

The states would refuse to follow the ruling? They don't exactly have a choice.

Get a life and stop with your nonsense arguments and opinions.

  • Sure you'll never stop, but you'll never have your special rights either. Not in America at least. So you can either keep fighting a battle you've lost, or you can admit defeat and move to Canada.

They don't have a choice? And what are the courts going to do about it? Are the judges going to go to each state and hold a gun to the heads of the public registrars? SJC rulings have been disregarded in the past, and for good reason.

  • @BelieveIt1051 LAUGHING AT YOU! You have no power and will not control us. NO CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT HAS EVER FAILED! NOT ONE!

  • That's because all have had majority support.

Not only does yours lack majority support, but it's not even a civil rights movement.

  • @BelieveIt1051 None of them had majority support! If they did they wouldn't have had to have a civil rights movement! Do you not even understand elementary civics?

  • So you're saying that only a majority is capable of oppressing people? Perhaps you should research what dictatorships, oligarchies, or aristocracies are.

No, they had to have a civil rights movement because a few people in positions of power were denying their rights, especially those with government power.

And that goes for your precious Supreme Court too. See: Dred Scott v Sandford and Plessy v Ferguson.

  • @BelieveIt1051 Laughing @ your lack of education! You should be embarrassed.

  • @BelieveIt1051 14th amendment guarantees equality between all citizens

  • No it doesn't. It guarantees that the law applies to everyone equally. Marriage law applies to everyone equally.

  • @BelieveIt1051 No it does not or else homosexuals would be allowed to get married. Lol so glad I live in canada

  • In Canada? You mean that totalitarian state where the Supreme Court forced same-sex "marriage" on the people by fiat?

As for the U.S., where we actually have freedom, the people get to govern themselves through representatives and through democratic vote. We have decided that marriage should not be redefined.

Also, homosexuals can get married in the same way everyone else can; To the opposite sex.

  • @BelieveIt1051 Canada is totalitarian? RIght that is why we have like one of the best human rights rankings of any country, much above the U.S (I like the U.S but ya.) Why would a homosexual want to marry a person of the opposite sex. The 14th amendment guarantees equality between all citizens, no different than telling a black and white person they cannot get married.

  • And who defines the rankings? Totalitarians who use ideas of utopia and feelings of equality as thought control. So I guess the feeling that the court did something good for a group of people trumps the fact that it took away your right to vote. Of course, the destruction of democracy never counts against your human rights ranking, does it? They wouldn't want to marry one of the opposite sex, but in that case they aren't qualified for marriage, which is between 1 man and 1 woman.
