So Temple consisted of now Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell. Mad Season's only Pearl Jam member was Mike McCready. Pearl Jam and STP do not sound similar by the way.

If your just listening casually or new to the seattle scene thats cool, its the best music out there in my opinion. but grunge is NOT a genre, it is not something that can be replicated due to the fact that each "grunge" band played in a completely different genre. (i'll admit that stp and soundgarden had a few musical similarities however).

@MeowChef Grunge isn't a genre, its a term used to describe bands coming out of Seattle in the early 90's. if you want to get technical, nirvana was punk, alice in chains was metal, and sound garden/ stone temple pilots were more folk/blues rock. The term grunge is more of a way to label the looks of the bands more than the music. The only thing the "grunge" bands had in common was their image at the time (drugged out with long hair and torn pants).

NOT a genre. i've learned every aic song, every nirvana song, most pearl jam and most stp songs. I've been in many bands that try to be "grunge" and the simple fact is that you cant. Know what you get when you try to copy nirvana? post grunge (shit like seether or nickleback) Now post grunge is a genre. its rock with a hint of country inserted. Pure grunge though is a movement.

You read wrong. Chris cornell is a great singer, but he's a baritone, which means his range is in a lower registry. Christina has a huge range also. Chris Cornell could hit notes that most males could never hit, but I can guarantee he can't hit a lot of Christina's higher end notes. Never the less Chris Cornell is a legend to rock music.
