  • What I find so stupid about the arguments for independence are that they are all based on vain pride and ethnic rivalry. We Scots are not oppressed or excluded from the body politic of the UK in any fashion. We are all partners united by much common history and culture. We have all shed blood for the same flag on numerous occasions. To toss that all aside because of bigotry would be utterly contemptible.

  • Go for it Scotland,,,,,, England and its politicians are second rate, Scotland the brave can be great again, you owe it to your people, you owe nothing to Sassenachs......

  • @seamie1954 Some people like you and Alex Salmond can be to Scottish. That tit even has his photo taken beside a statue of Mel Gibson in Braveheart mode.

  • @seamie1954 Dude if the Scottish clans ever want to break from Great Britain, all the minor clans would have to make their way back to Scotland from wherever they are now. Most of the original Highland clans left Scotland during the Colonial period, settling in places like Nova Scotia, which by the way translates into "New Scotland"

  • @Knightmare623 What are you talking about, Scots like others are all over the world, what or who took clans into the conversation, again, what are you talkinf about,,,, in english please.....

  • @seamie1954 Poor Knightmare! Didn't you know that us Scots still live in crofts within villages according to our clan? Gorra love the funny ideas that some people have about our country. Ooops, time to get ready for another raid on the neighbouring glen's clan LOL!!

  • @seamie1954 I meant what I said. Most of the minor clans were forced out of Scotland by nobles looking for land to raise their livestock. Most of the "ancient" traditions that you see in Scotland today came about in the Victorian era. The reason I know this is because my Grandfather's clan was one of those that moved to Nova Scotia.

  • @Knightmare623 What a load of tosh. Plenty of Scots remained in Scotland following the clearances. So your grandfather's family moved to Canada, good for them but very many more refused to leave their homeland and simply moved elsewhere in Scotland, like my own family. They moved from Uist to Inverness along with hundreds of others who moved to other cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh As for traditions, most vastly precede the Victorian era, believe me!!

  • @angher2010 Edit: I just watched the video and that guy is a Gurkha. Proud to have those guys at our side.

  • Have to love the pipes even in the USA

  • Marching order is perfect. You can actually march onto war with this.

  • Erm. UK is and always has consisted of 2 Countries only. Scotland and England. Act of Union King James 6th of Scotland became King James 1st of England. Wales is aPrincipality and Ireland has never been part of Britain.

  • @palus666 Not being funny, but i pay my taxes, live in england. and scottish. how does that work?

  • @Jadcardie What a silly immature comment to make. In the recent Scottish Elections, 902,915 people voted for the PRO independence SNP. That gave them a landslide majority in the Scottish Government. Do you think everyone who voted for them has watched too much Braveheart too? It's pretty obvious the people of England don't want the union to end, thats fine, but there are A LOT of people in Scotland who do want to see it end. Get over it !

  • @glasgow1234 Maybe you should look up the Scottish independence poll conducted by YouGov. 29% of people want independence and only (this even shocked me) 52% of SNP supporters are in favour of independence. A few years ago these figures were higher - but they've dropped.

Scotland gets £1,600 more gov spending than England and free tuition fees and prescriptions fees that are payed at the expense of the English, as quoted by a fellow Scot nationalist of yours.

  • @Jadcardie There is only one poll that will show the true support for independence amongst the people of Scotland. And that poll, referendum WILL happen and when it does, the SNP and other parties will run a positive campaign to show the Scottish people we are more than capable of governing ourselves without any intereference from another Government. You say Scotland gets more gov spending than England, well surely you are in favour of Scotland keeping its own money and England keeping its then?

  • @glasgow1234 There is only one poll? Which poll is that? YouGov is a reputable polling company that conducted that poll regarding peoples' opinions on independence and is, more or less, correct. They have done independence polls for a few years now and the support for independence has DROPPED. No, I'm in favour of a fair union; England and Scotland get equal government spending and regarding tuition fees and free prescriptions - either everyone pays or nobody pays.

  • @Jadcardie The independence referendum to be held in the next 4 years will show ALL of the peoples of Scotland's views on independence and not some poll that asks a 1000 or 2 carefully selected individuals. If you do base it on polls then look at the TNSBMRB poll held straight after the Scottish 2011 elections - independence support up 6% from 18 months previously, with 37% favouring independence, 45% against, 18% not sure. The key being the not sures. They can't vote not sure in the referendum

  • @glasgow1234 Yes a referendum on Scotland's position in the United Kingdom will tell us the public mood on the matter and will decide the future of the United Kingdom. I'm not saying that one poll is correct and will give the overall mood of the situation in Scotland. if you take a look at all recent polls it overwhelmingly shows that Scots want to stay within the United Kingdom, this overall picture gives us enough evidence to suggest that Scots support the Union.

    continued...

  • @Jadcardie I'm in favour of Scotland taking full control of everything that affects us. I'm in favour of Scots and Scots only governing themselves. I'm in favour of Scots taking full control over there natural resources and all revenue. England can then also claim back it's national identity and there can be an english Parliament with only English people governing in it. I believe in democracy and the Union of the UK is NOT democratic towards Scotland !

  • @glasgow1234 So getting free prescriptions, free tuition fees (at the expense of others), the right to vote and having your own parliament is not democratic? Regarding democracy, Scotland gets more out of the union than England does.

  • @Jadcardie Scotland pays for it's free prescriptions & tuition fees from its block grant budget it gets from Westminster which is LESS than what Scotland contributes to the UK Treasury, so please explain how we get this at the expense of others? Having a Parliament which governs over some things and not others, yes is undemocratic. At the last general election, Scotland voted mostly for Labour and the SNP and we ended up with a Tory/LibDem Coalition. How more undemocratic can you get with that!

  • @glasgow1234 They are both payed at the expense of English taxpayers, hence why it costs English families around £412 a year. A Scottish nationalist even told me that, it's Salmond's plan to drive a wedge between the English and Scots. The ironic thing is there is more support for Scottish independence in England than there is in Scotland because of this simple fact.

In Scotland you voted mostly for Labour, LibDems THEN the SNP and in England it was the Tories and LibDems, hence the coalition.

  • @Jadcardie Who is this Scottish nationalist who you seem to bring up on every post? From the words he is using, he is not a Scottish Nationalist!!.. And no English taxpayers are NOT paying for our free University and Prescriptions. The people of Scotland who work and pay their taxes to London, pay for this! Scotland gets back LESS than what it contributes. GO LOOK AT THE FIGURES! So how can you be paying for it. What about the £2500+ every Scot gives away every week to London from OUR RESOURCES!

  • @glasgow1234 continued...

In fact we have just seen a massive SNP victory within Scotland and yet I have not seen one poll this year in support for Scotland splitting the United Kingdom, nor did we see polls saying the same before.

  • @Jadcardie You never answered my questions from my last post? Explain how we get all these freebies at the expense of others when we pay for it with our budget from London which is less than what we contribute? And these polls that you seem to base everything on once said that labour would win the Scottish elections days before the election..... I will base a whole nations view on a poll that asks the whole nation !

  • @glasgow1234 A fellow Scottish Nationalist of yours told me that, it even seemed that he was proud of the fact Scotland was being subsidised regarding free tuition fees and free prescriptions.

But that's a PREDICTION, whereas the polls regarding independence are OPINIONS and solid evidence.

Why has Salmond postponed the referendum to 2015? If he was so confident that Scottish independence was going to happen then he'd have held it sooner.

  • @Jadcardie You still fail to answer my question. You say we are subsidised! How can we be subsidised if the complete Scottish budget we get from Westminster which pays for everything is LESS than what Scotland contributes to the UK Treasury? Please explain that? .. And no it was not a prediction. The polls were asking who people would vote for and weeks before the election, Labour was in the lead. In that short time, the people of Scotland switched to the SNP as they are fed up of London puppets

  • @glasgow1234 I said a Scottish Nationalist told me all of the facts and figures - well, not only did he tell me but almost nationalist he talks to and sounded quite proud when he was echoing that statement to other peoples' pages.

You can't compare a poll that was carried out a few weeks before the elections to numerous polls carried out every year regarding people's opinions on independence. The amount of people supporting independence has always been around 30-40% for the past few years now .

  • @Jadcardie Please do me a favour and go and actually LOOK at the figures instead of getting your info from Anti-Scottish Newspapers which you seem to call " a Scottish Nationalist ". When the referendum is held, Scots will be asked Yes or No to independence. There will be no " not sure " choice, so the not sures in these previous polls will have to decide and i am more than confident they will see sense and vote for Scots governing Scotland.

  • @glasgow1234 I got none of that info from newspapers, go and look up his page on here: Alastairbell. As I said, he's repeated that statement to numerous pages and is a Scottish Nationalist.

If people really wanted independence they wouldn't choose 'not sure', I'm pretty sure less than half of those who chose 'not sure' would say yes because if they really wanted independence their wishes would've been expressed in the polls as 'yes'.

  • @Jadcardie Well he really needs to research into facts and figures a lot more, like yourself. Please go and LOOK !!!! have a look for how much Scotland contributes to the UK and how much it gets back and then tell me if we are being subsidised!... And of course if people say not sure that doesn't mean they will vote yes but it certainly doesn't mean they will vote no. That is the point... When the Yes campaign begins, the SNP will show these not sures that we are better governing ourselves !

  • @glasgow1234 Why is support for independence not as high as you make it out to be? After that SNP victory in May, a historical moment for a separatist government, the polls still show the majority of people still oppose independence. I'm going with the YouGov polls, they use a larger sample size than TNS-BMRB. So even if you added the 15% 'I don't know' to the 29% 'yes' they still wouldn't make up the majority.

  • @glasgow1234 i don't think that would be be a wise choice, i mean yes scotland should be goverened by its own people, but not free from Great britain, as lots of tax comes from England. Scotland is only slightly smaller than England yet 10/15 x less people, I love scotland, but head has to rule heart on this.

  • @sundimented No, a lot of tax does not come from Scotland to England. Each year, Scotland sends all revenue and tax to Westminster where they decide how much we get back. The budget they give us is a lot LESS than what we give to the UK. So please explain how English tax comes to Scotland? Proof of this? And what has Scotlands population got to do with independence? Go look at the long list of independent countries with smaller populations than Scotland !!

  • @glasgow1234 I support you my friend, it's not that you watched too much braveheart, you just a a head on your shoulders and a will to be free to do what you want with your country, we, in Québec, are like you, we want our independance, because within Canada we are heading toward complete assimilation. all we want is to survive, but seems like Canada wants us dead... Cheers, brother, from an Irish-scottish-amerindian-french Québécois. Keep fighting!

  • @thewindthatshakesbar yeh they/you want to separate but'ya dont really want change, still want to live the Canadian way so I say Suck it up buttercup! Canada is a culturally diverse country open ur eyes n' just be thankfull.

  • @GrahamClan16 We in Québec never lived the «canadian way» and never will, except for the already assimilated weak tards... And how would you explain the results of last elections? To give up has never been to consider, we wont let our culture and heritage disapear. Canada maybe a culturally diverse country, french language is in a very bad position and looses it's power in here. Our only way to survive as a people is to separate, it's pure logic. Vive la liberté, vive l'indépendance!

  • @sundimented ... that's a myth I'm afraid, published figures say that the Scottish GDP is £140 billion per annum of which Scotland sends £42 billion (PLUS £13 billion from oil and gas) in revenue to the GB Treasury, in return the Scottish Parliament receives a £33 billion annual grant from Westminster to spend on public services. Scottish expenditure has a surplus that allows for free prescriptions and care for the elderly, extra police etc. What you say is propaganda spread by The Daily Mail.

  • @dcanmore thanks for clearing that, does that mean most of our money goes to London then, cos they seem to get loads of money spent there. while the rest of the nation gets fuck all?

  • @sundimented ... Yeah, pretty much, I used to work in Lambeth Borough (population 250,000) an inner London council and they get £1.2 billion per year to spend which is an average figure for a London borough. In total 32 councils in London receive around £39 billion to spend each year. Much more than the whole of Scotland gets! London is an endless black hole of expenditure with an unbelievable amount of wasteful spending.

  • @dcanmore millenium dome for example! sick of london getting all the money.

  • @dcanmore Yes and you can blame it all on the unemployed immigrants that labour let in, so much for the working mans party. I work at Heathrow as a driver and i have seen what has happened over the last few years, the brit has had his money cut down to minimum wage so that they can employ the polish, all thanks to labour, yet the labour MP's wanted a payrise every year while cutting wages elsewhere, hypocrtites.

  • @dcanmore There are also more people in London then the whole of Scotland, and most of the spend goes on immigrants. Take a trip to London and try and spot the brit, it's full of immigrants.

  • @sundimented There's no country in the world regretting their independance, NO. England is just sucking your ressources and revenue. you could be independant and still be allied with the UK, without being abused... think about it. VIVE LES PEUPLES LIBRES!!

  • @thewindthatshakesbar I bet many Africans would beg to differ. But I would rather say London is sucking resources away from the rest of the nation!

  • @Jadcardie.... Is there such a thing?

  • @palus666 ah ur just pissed that england couldnt control the whole of ireland and if u looked up ur history u would see that UK stands for all four kingdoms not 3

  • @EBJMM Ireland was under British rule from 1177 to 1937 (760 years) and was only ever fully united under British rule, lmfao.

  • To the 51 who disliked this. Kiss me Scottish Arse!

  • united kingdom......if it aint broke dont fix it!!!,some of you idiots have watched too much braveheart!!!lol

  • Proud to be British, If you want independence then your an idiotic twat.

  • @palus666 Funny that you came to a very Scottish video celebrating our Military music. It would seem you enjoy our music but you don't seem to enjoy Scots who want to better themselves and take control of their lives?..... And let's see how the highly populated south east of England will last without the hundreds of billions of pounds pouring in from Scottish resources... Continue to read your illinformed anti Scottish newspapers :)

  • @glasgow1234 and i do wonder how the scottish government will handle with no funding from the british government....scotland benefits from england..england benefits from scotland..hence the united kingdom stop whining like a bitch cos its here to stay end of.

  • @mattyboy7071 Well Considering Scotland gets LESS back from the British Government than what we contribute, i think the Scottish Government will handle our country quite well :) Scotland does NOT benefit from the Union. The Union holds Scotland back from flourishing. The Union stops Scots making important choices affecting them. And i am in no way whining, i am just stating the truth. Saying i am whining is a little bit hypocritical of you actually lol

  • Thumbs up, this is what you call good music

  • I always come back to listen to this video when i need reminded of how proud i am to be Scottish. The sound of the mass pipes sends shivers right through my body and makes me feel ultimate proudness.... It's like a rush ! We really are the proudest nation on earth ! Alba gu brath !!!

    INDEPENDENCE FOR SCOTLAND !

  • @glasgow1234

do they have a language of their own?

  • @JosDetermeijer Yes its called gaelic

  • thumbs up if you want Scotland to remain apart of The United Kindom

  • This has to be my favourite tattoo of all time as my big brother was playing the bagpipes in The 1st Battalion The Royal Scots. If you look at the circle when the pipes & drums form the thistle formation my brother is the shortest piper in the red tartan. Was so proud of him that evening :-)

  • ahh, the bonnie scotland

  • Your regiment's reputation precedes itself. I am proud to call them my brothers in arms

  • you wonder what happens when one of then mess up

  • Did i not say shut up, you spoil it, shut the fuck up .

  • For heavens sake shut up and let us listen to the music.

  • Whenever I see the Edinburgh tattoo, it makes me think, I wish there were still empires like the British Empire. Maybe some feelings were hurt along the way, but I think the British Empire, with a strong and important contribution from the Scots, made the world a better place and probably would've continued doing so. I guess all good things come to an end, but what a proud and impressive run the Brits had. If you guys ever want to start it back up, send a recruiter to the US, I'll sign up.

  • Mesmo sendo brasileiro com costumes e cultura completamente opostas entre BRASIL e ESCÓCIA, acho fantástico o som dessas gaitas de fole (bagpipes)... assim que eu puder, irei assistir ao vivo esse espetáculo... From SÃO PAULO - BRASIL.

  • um... Asian dude at 1:15 ? Not that I'm against that, just a WTF moment is all....

  • @harlita Have you read the previous posts?? Haven't you heard of the Ghurkas? :)

  • @harlita the Brits owned alot of land and well parts of Asia were in possession and South pacific areas as well

  • wow this is so awsome, i would pretty much shit my swlf if i herd this coming at me during a war.... im english and will always respect the scots, brave lads they are..

  • If anyone says they have no fear, they are either lying or they're a ghurkha.

  • The 50 dislikes are French. :-P

  • Brooklyn Rules!
