The dog trusted you enough to not freak out. You can see at first he is a bit confused, but after free falling for a bit he looked calm. At the end he did kind of a "holy shit that was cool!" look to him though.
Looks like a Belgian Malinois and no, he had total trust in his owner! That's what I LOVE about this breed! Congrats to you both for moving things forward!
I wish I could have shot this video as well. I had a blast editing it together. I wish I would be able to meet the jumper and the dog also. I you ever need anything else edited for you let me know. Thank you for your service.
Chris, I hope you don't mind that I'm sharing your videos...they are inspiring and you are a HERO!!! I can't believe how far you've come since last Feb...you look great and the videos attest to what drive and determination you have. We're proud to still have you as part of our SF family!!!
I've never skydived before so i dunno but....is the wind excessively loud when falling through the air like that? That's the only thing I'd be concerned about with the dog.
As a dog owner/lover myself I know that when a dog is loved - the dog *wants* to be included in all activities. They get upset when they're excluded.
It's obvious the dog loves to be included in the jump. If the dog hated it, the dog would show displeasure by skulking or other negative behavior once on the ground. The dog's after jump behavior shows how much he liked it.
Yes, I believe it is a Belgian Malinois or perhaps a German Shepherd/Malinois mix. We are fostering a Mal puppy for the Military Working Dog program at Lackland afb in San Antonio. She is incredibly alert and smart, but needs to have a job like the dog in the video. I can't see her as a house dog like our pet dog. She will begin formal training in the military at about 7 months. They are very cool dogs and most suited for the jobs they are given.!
@NRogers07 Yes Malinois are great dog's. It is possible to keep em as a pet, but like you say they need a lot of stimulation. Good luck with the training of your dog for the military.
Beautiful video. As for the music, people can complain as to whether they enjoy it or not, but that doesn't alter the fact it is fitting to what's being shown.
Sir, you are a great American hero who's given up a lot for this country, and I salute you. But how did you get that dog to jump without shitting itself?
This is an awesome video, Thank you for sharing! I had no idea there were dogs in special forces as well as regulars. It takes a special dog to go this far, just as it takes a special person. You are both role models for everyone. The dog is so happy to be a part of it, too. Anyone that thinks otherwise is an uneducated moron! Thanks again for sharing, caring, sacrificing and serving.
The bond these soldiers and their K-9 Counterparts share are unbreakable.. Especially for our wounded Soldiers.. These precious animals play such a huge part in the healing process of our wounded warriors and there is no way that any of our soldiers would intentionally put their battle buddies in harms way. Did I forget to mention that there was a k-9 member of the Seals team that took down Osama Bin Laden? To the soldier in this video. Youre amazing and from the wife of a soldier. Thank you. <3
This video is amazing.. Those with the negative comments below should educate themselves in the wide us of canines in the U.S Military. As of 2010 I believe there were more than 2,800 amazing dogs serving along side our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our K-9's are cherished members of our Special Forces, Delta Forces and Seal Teams. This spunky pup above isnt the first, nor will it be the last, pooch to have jumped out of a plane with their comrades.
Unbelievable that all some can say is "poor dog..." Idiots. The dog is having a great time, and as a military working dog, he is doing exactly what he wants to do.
@RelentlessInnocence Considering that is what Axe (MWD) is trained to do, it is hardly animal abuse. I know this for a fact because this soldier is my brother and Axe is treated 95% better than most people. He lives and breathes to work and please his handler.
Great looking pal you have hope your future (present, then no doubt she already does!) wife will love you half as much as your canine companion. Outstanding. Brought tears to my eyes. My LE K-9 Partner is a Malinois also. I salute you and your partner. To the critics of this video, "go away, nothing for you to see here. These are a different breed than you for which you can't understand."
Apologies for my earlier comment. It was uncalled for. Clearly if I hadn't just woken up I would have thought a little further into it - obviously prosthetic legs, and of course he wouldn't purposely endanger his dog. Overall it's a good video. I liked it at the same time as I commented, anyway lol

For all of you claiming this is some kind of animal abuse. THESE DOGS ARE TRAINED FOR IT!!! It is part of their job and their life. They work hand in paw with their service member and are 4-legged patriots. Good on you and your K9 friend sir. And God bless you both.
You sir are an inspiration to anyone who says they want to give up or even thinks about it. Thanks for your service and continued service...and your dog is officially the most badass dog to walk the planet.
