  • @MrBeastman1975 His abs are in constant flexion to prevent exactly that. When you tighten your core, the abs and lower spinal erectors form a solid trunk around the spinal cord that helps to prevent hyperextension. If he didn't have his core tightened, he could have easily herniated a disk during this lift.

    It's like stopping at parallel on a squat. There's more pressure on knees because the full range of motion wasn't executed. Same thing works with your shoulders. You add way more stress stopping because your body isn't letting the arm joint rest. Learn2kinesiology.

  • @jewmaster5000 Well I believe going all the way down won't cause any injury, it just adds another dimension to the lift. I've been doing it that way for 4 years and have never had shoulder issues.
