@Kamikaze1655 he probably has a vitamin A deficiency..... My turtle's eyes blew up when he was little. Get him to the vet for a vitamin A shot. Also put vitamins in the water and be sure to feed him the tetra strips (or similar product) shrimp and things are junk food to them.

@Kikyo361 It's good to put your turtle at the sunlight, they love it. And you should put on a heater for the water. You don't want her to hibernate because of the cold. When you feed her the water level needs to be high so she can see the pellets or any kind of food you give her. :)

@CraziieFish you can tell what sex they are by their nails. i think the long nails are female and the short nails are male... look up on that.. their life expectancy can range from 10-60 years. turtles are the only creature i know that can live to be over 300 years old. house kept turtles can live normally 10-60 years but sometimes they can love to 100 years :3

PetSmart is always getting sick and mistreated turtles, sometimes employees will do their best to get these turtles back to health but most of the time they are still neglected and sold to customers.

If I were you, I would try to return them and get your money back.

how long have you had the turtle? did this start happening during the winter season? do his eyes appear swollen, only able to half open? what do you feed the turtle? this may be because of a vitamin a deficiency. please give me as many details about the turtle( its housing, feeding habits, how long you've noticed this eye problem, ect.) and i will try and help as best i can. i have had turtles for 11 years, i'm no expert though, so i cant assure you i will be able to help, but i'll do my best!

turtles bite - just like any other animal does... especially if they think your fingers are food. And yes, it does hurt. Don't touch their heads and you'll be fine. Oh, and don't get a snapping turtle. haha.

if its an infection it explains the swelling and might also explain the sensitiveness

but could be sensitive from injury as well

try changing the water, and also feed her something good in proteins (like a fish)

the swelling will disappear if we know why it happened and solve the issue

For water turtles, length of claws and tail. The tail especially is a dead giveaway, male turtles have a long tail with the clocoa some distance from the shell while females have a shorter tail and the clocoa pretty much right next to the shell.
