@001Nigel (oops, I accidentally typed the same name in twice). Meant for two people to see that this scene was pretty bad but small potatoes compared to other films out there concerning brutality on women.
damn they were getting along so good in that bar. It's really painful to see him stick to his plan and fuck her up. I would've probably changed my mind if we got along that good. Feels weird beating someone up despite the fact you got along just before...
It had nothing to do with just getting along with her. He didn't just fuck her up because she was some random girl. Damn, watch the movie again! She worked as a clerk at Nolte's office. Nolte was cheating on his wife with her. So he judged her on moral grounds and since she was tied to Nolte and Nolte liked her, it would hurt him.
@BigYellow9999 Thats not the point, the point it why do such a terrible thing to someone whom you got along with so well etc etc its just inhumane even if it does hurt your enemy
Cady May not be a coward....but he's a sick F*** (exscuse my language....) he's scary and I don't know WHAT I would do if I had some creeper stalking me and trying to torture me...
@kimmyfreak200 and @kimmyfreak200 The worst films, one I haven't seen is Dario Argento's The Stendhal Syndrome, which if you look up here, you can see some clips of it and it's pretty dang evil what the guys does to his victims (he's a serial murdering rapist). Another film, I've seen this one before, is Lipstick with Margaret Hemmingway. I had to look up to word sodomy and when I found out what happened to her in the film after reading the book I had to hold back vomit.
@nath909 ok, admittedly it could serve that purpose,.... so... then... i guess there is probably no other way to make the audience understand, isn't it....? ;-P
of course there are cases, when product placement might get some kind of a narrative and/or subtle function, for example the marlboro/gauloises issue in polanski's 'the tenant' - but this is so ridiculous
@NewWaveFan1 He wasn't just preying on the young girl though, he was preying on the entire family. He never really showed fear, he was pretty tactical, despite, even though what he did was wrong, obviously, I wouldn't say he's a "coward". and btw, now ALL rapist our "cowards".
@NewWaveFan1 robert deniro is an actor. Are you talking about his character? Are you one of those people who forgets that movies aren't real?
And if you're talking about the character.. uh. that's not what a coward is. Like.. at all. "sociopaths" aren't cowards. They're sociopaths. And people out for revenge are not classified as cowardly. They're classified as vengeful.
DeNiro's reaction when she condescends to him with "Debauchery. It's a three-syllable word." For just that split second, his mask of normalcy comes down and you can see his true sadistic nature. That's some world-class acting from DeNiro in just a quick throw away moment
@thebrb30000 exactly! mr i won an oskar (for a doug-less produxxion!) trademark lun(d)i nickelsson got it tickled out waaay longer! of coarse incomparable to stall ones over the tops...
funny how convicts always think everything is someone else's fault...that someone else is to blame...that even though they did wrong, its someone else that caused them trouble...and all the convicts in jail say they were framed their innocent. pathetic...whats even more scary is that their are real criminals out there like Mr. Cady.
See Robert DeNiro at his best in a brilliant performance as Max Cady. This is a great movie directed by Martin Scorsece. Great acting+great script+great director= great film making and you see it all, from the beginning to the end, in this film. Thanks for posting.

Actually, It's the other way round, The Simpsons Parodied This movie (like so many other pop culture films and shows).
Cape Fear was a 1991 Scorsese film, a remake of the original 1962 film.
The Simpsons episode in question is from Season 5.
It was called "Cape Feare" starring Sideshow Bob as The De Nero character Max Cady. It was aired Oct 7th 1993.
