i think, on the movie, the rose, the country star she meet played by harry dean stanton, was suppose to be buck owens, not 100 percent ! but thats what i heard,
makes sense i guess. he was from texas& was big @ that time, he put her in her place though it was funny.
This song was written by my cousin Terry Clement from Acadia parrish, La.
Terry wrote the song in high school but he wrote it in french. The song was very popular as Terry & his brothers played lots of gigs in the area.
Terry took the song to a publisher who translated it into english and wanted to take part credit. Terry would not agree because he could have done that himself.
Long story short. My cousin lost the rights to the song because he never had it copywrited.
In response to jerryknob: Don Ulrich (Don Rich) is buried In Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield, CA. His memorial plaque is inscribed with the very simple and most appropriate phrase "always smiling".
I absolutely loved the combination of Buck and Don, however, strangely, when Don stepped up to the mic on the chorus with that natural smile and wonderfully clear tenor voice, Buck nearly became invisible.
don was the man on the telecaster. he's influenced pete anderson, albert lee, and almost every guitar slinger that came after him. i miss don and buck so much
Wish someone would put together a DVD collection of Buck and Don - all performances and make available to the general public, true country music fans. I'm 48, but where has the real country music gone??? Too many bleach blonde marketing projects and not enough talent, but that's what happens when Nashville sells out to New York business...
Don't forget the male gender that don't sound country or rock. They suck at both but they continue to shove them down our throat. I just about don't listen to the country radio station in the car anymore. A few tradtional country songs here and there with the rest garage band rock songs. I'm just glad that there is still a station that plays classic rock and doesn't throw in greencrap.
i wish sundazed records would release his solo fiddle album on cd that fiddlinman from the early 70's now that would be special and all the tracks are on the buckaroo albums anyway just need them on cd anyway keep it country amen.
@Corsair1977 I would go and watch it along with my 17 yr old son, who is a Don and Buck fan. Most of the young generation in Sherman, Tx, where Buck was born and has a street named after him don't even know Buck Owens. My son lives and goes to school in Sherman. My son said he told his friends about Buck and Don and there response was who? That's a shame.
I wouldn't say that He was God, but give him a Telecaster and some might think so. He was an incredible musician and when he harmonized with Buck, it could be mistaken for angels singing. Incredible sound...none like it since.
Wow..grew up on Buck Owens and Don RIch..What a combo and Don was the back bone of their sound.I would like to know where he is buried if any one knows, not to end my comment on a bad note
Buck owens is the best music to listen to and think about how my woman left me.

A certain "chemistry" was apparent when they performed. Similar to that Elvis had with his backup singers on "Suspicious Minds."

This song was written by my cousin Terry Clement of Acadia Parrish, La.
Terry wrote this in high school, but he wrote it in french and played it all around south Louisiana.
He took it to a publisher who wanted half credit for translating it into english.
Terry refused, but since he had not had the song copywrited, lost all rights to it.
Jimmy C Newman and Doug Kershaw credit Terry as the writer to this day.

I agree completely. I'm 18, and actually kind of afraid of what "country" is becoming these days.
