i'm australian and i'm glad samoa won, a big wake up call for robbie deans who consistently decides to choose a forward pack without any impact. Giteau was one of the only players who showed some ticker and was dropped against south africa completely. My bet is Samoa will be a force to be reckoned with in the world cup and will finish 2nd behind south africa in their pool group.

But I'm not surprised at all, because Samoa showed consistency in the tour of Europe last autumn, and so I knew they could do it. We were always good, but we lacked consistency. Now, I think we are more consistent, and I hope it stays that way at the world cup and forever.
@theephraimite I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised because Australian rugby had everything going for them with super 15 title in the bag, but I always knew it would be tight game and that the Samoans would be much stronger then they had ever been in the past.
@KCHIEFTAN super rugby doesn't matter since Samoa exploited its greatest asset, which is physicality. It frustrated the opponent. The tour of Europe last yr said it all. It made me realize that Samoa was more consistent in that they were competitive in all games they played. Another thing I looked at is that Samoa pushed Oz to the limit in the '91 world cup and could have won had all the shots at goal been successful.We almost beat Oz in '98 but a knock on prevented a try. So, I'm not shocked.
@theephraimite yea this result confirmed that the Samoans were able to maintain abit of a consistency which obviously began in their spring tour.They have never been able to this in the past even though they had beaten wales and had a couple of good games against some of the top tier nations, but these performances were rare.
