i think that many people are so wrong about Tom that he is jackass as a person because they believe on tabloid. He is wonderful guy and amazing movie star and also he is very nice with his fans.
I like Tom Cruise. But do you get the feeling that the presenter was scripted by Tom`s "people"?. WTF are all these obscure awards that keep getting mentioned after each obscure movie title? Was this video shot just before he went on Oprah...?
@dukeredbacks if you watch other people`s interviews James lists all the obscure awards that people get because he prides himself in getting ALL the details on his guests.
MTV awards are crap. They don't mean a damn thing. Tom hasn't been in that many great films, just high grossing action type movies. He will not win an Oscar.
@oooshitman9 MTV awards mean alot to the actors cuz they are voted by the fans an not some old farts sitting in stuffy suits in stuffy rooms who call themselves critics cuz they couldnt become actors themselves!!
LOL my nan is O'Brian, her parents were from Ireland, she would have been older then, Tom's father but how crazy is that, they could be related way down the line somewhere.
How is the Mapother family history AT ALL related to Cruise? He said his grandfather was adopted and therefore, NOT a Mapother by birth. Lipton shoulda researched the O'Mearas.
Seeing all those top students in the best acting school who are 20-24 year old struggling for even a small role is sad and ridiculous.Tom never took acting lessons he just learned along the way and in the age of 23 he was a movie star
@LLOYD19851012 WOW COOL!!! If you don't mind how did you go about finding the information? My great grandpa I think or Great great on my dad's side came from England. I found out I am slightly related to Sir Anthony Eden.
one of his most underrated movies was The Firm, i though that movie was awesome, also the color of money. But of course Risky Business was just unreal. Cruise might be a little cooky and i really dont approve of the whole scientology thing, but gotta say one very good actor
Well, he is absolutely gorgeous. That's simply a fact! I think, too, that he is a great guy, but as a role model, a direct implication of his work, he should think before he acts sometimes. And the guy has a bit extreme opinions that shock! So, he can't expect to only be noticed for his work. It's a shame, really, because he loses a lot of credibility, I think. But I still think he's an incredible actor!!
one thing that strikes me about tom cruise is that he's just a cool nice guy, so who cares about his religious beliefs, the best thing a person can do is to be a decent human being, and tom seems to be just that. good for him!
Yeah, I think Scientology is weird but that doesn't mean Tom is a bad guy. It made front-page headlines when he jumped on Oprah's couch, but shortly after that he saw somebody get in a car crash on the highway, and he stopped to help them and then paid all their medical bills. Somehow, that story was a paragraph long and was towards the back of the paper. My point? The media is more interested in showing "the bad parts" for sales reasons...great sense of journalism.
@TheShockMaster Scientology is actually illegal in Germany because of the way they treat their members. Especially when they're trying to get out. I remember being told about Scientology's "evil ways" ;-) in our ethic class in 5th grade. That was back in 1987. Tom is a great actor, though. I like him!
@pacovl46, that`s the lie. A big organization stands in the center of Berlin. And there are many other orgs in other german cities. Many people told lie about that and that, only you may find out what the truth really just checking out information by your own experience.
@pacovl46, I respect that you have your own opinion and your own choise.
But it`s not right to talk about anything if somebody is not sure in information. For example, i may say something very bad about Mr.X to you because Mr.Y told me that. But if I talk with Mr.X I would see that Mr.Y told the lie about him.
I know what good for me and bad because I check out, but not because people have teached me.
yeah i totally agree with you. i always hear shit about tom cruise and the only thing its about is scientology. John Travolta is always one, but i don't here as many people giving him grief about it. maybe its because Tom is more up front about it but anyhow its no reason to just completely dismiss him
some people don't know all that info... and I think it is a way to show admiration by jim for his interviewee, and to help make them feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy before coming on the stage.
I have never ever been lead by any professor or any teacher as much as I have been lead by this interview. Between Tom and Will both are powerful motivators as well as actors. I have a hard time believing in myself simply because I don't have anyone guiding me or helping to give direction. But everyday I watch these interviews as a constant reminder that anyone can be and do whatever they set there mind to. I don't know where or how but I know I will make it.
noticed many of most sucessful actors interviewed by jim have spoken of believing they can achieve anything they set their mind to, and have accomplished it. Besides Will & Tom, includes Russell Crowe, creator of "The Family Guy", Sylvester Stallone, Chris Rock, & Tim Allen. I also noticed they express much gratitude 4 resources they have achieved access too, & keep eye out 4 what r looking for & preparing their body/mind to receive goals they seek, note Chris Rock interview.
@cf1147 will is a fagit, sellout greedy pig, whose only talent is killing dum aliens and flying around. if he had a ounce of talent he would make movies that do more than offer mindless entertainment.
This is one of the best ones I've seen. Tom Cruise takes the initiative to share, teach and motivate, and genuinely wants others to succeed. In so many of these interviews the actors talk about themselves to the point of self-indulgence. I was very disappointed after seeing my idol, Meryl Streep on this series who seemed so unwilling to share any of her "secrets." Tom, esp. in the last clip, shows how generous he is, a true motivator, and these students all knew it and were grateful for it.
It is interesting to note that other actors have won oscars in films Cruise was in. And some well respected people in film business believe that achieving that level of recognition with many people, including Tom's performance, like in Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, and Top Gun, to name a couple.
Cruise actually CRINGED and was uncomfortable when Lipton reflected his own lineage/family history to him; you can tell that he never really cared or thought much about where he came from. Typical of someone who has pretty much shed his past in so many ways and re-invented himself, especially with the whole Scientology thing. Shit, I'm surprised he allowed the program to show all that home movie footage of him, especially of his father since Cruise is known for hating his dad.
i was a big fan of tom cruise before the whole crazy scientology thing but i and hopefuly most every who see's this interview can agree he has a very impressive list of movies, movies that have made a very large profit and also some that were very well made and acted in as well.
yeah. I mean who gives a shit what makes this guy tick, I've watched him in movies since I was a little boy and will continue to do so, because no matter what movie I've seen him in, it was always entertaining.
weird as he may be he is one hell of an actor and i hope one day he wins an oscar. i still think to this day he is underappreciated and underrated as an actor, once again, all religion weirdness aside.
@Arkanai Weird, the Romans seemed to think Christianity was a cult to when it started to gain popularity! As for destructive, well all religions and cults can take credit for that!
