Ahhhhhh. This takes me back to the early 70s. My mom had Vikki Carr's albums where she would cover the pop songs of the time. They were fun to listen to even as a little kid. Happy memories.
Did Helen Reddy rip her off? This sounds exactly ( for all intents and purposes) like a Helen Reddy styled song, but stupid me was only 7 when this was made and Helen and Vikki were both behind the record collection if you know what I mean. Although I must say that Vikki seemed to be extremely listenable AND watchable for her time. She is pretty hot.
Bravo Vikki. It took guts to sing that song on Johnny Carson, one of Hollywood's biggest chauvinists. If you watch his interview with her he asks her "Do you think this whole women's liberation thing has gone too far?" Sadly, Vikki has to give a ploitically correct answer after he says its okay to admire a woman's pretty legs.
Vikki Carr recorded many great things in the seventies such as "Ms. America" which is a great LP that contained what could have been many big hits but brain-dead radio wouldn't program this great singer so she got sick of it and became a Superstar in the Latin market...smart DIVA but a sad loss for the American audience...thank poor programing for this loss and it is still going on...their egos like to control and they don't like talent.
