By grace, through faith, for the sake of Christ. The statement that we are justified by faith is a figure of speech, but it is one Our Lord Himself used, when He said, "Thy faith hath made thee whole." Strictly speaking, the person's faith had not made her whole; Jesus had. But Jesus had healed her through her faith.
Justification is not based on faith, it is by means of faith. There is a difference. We must be wary of terminology that suggests that justification is because of faith. The ultimate cause of justification is God in Christ and the gift of saving faith is the means.
If you say we must have good works + Jesus...then is death was for nothing. If you say we must have sacraments + Jesus...then his death was for nought. Remember that God has done everything that needed to be done...and Jesus finished it at the cross. All the stuff that comes after....is done out of love and obedience to Christ and his work....NOT OURS.
@StSimonMartyr...why don't you post your mean, vicious comments at your own church's video. You have obviously intentionally made atrocious comments because you and your church, still today, obviously, still feel threatened by Luther's adherence to and standing boldly for the Word of God. Jealousy is why Jesus was crucified--because of His claim to be God. Jealousy comes as does the devil, to steal, kill and destroy. I am praying for you that your eyes would be opened totruth of the Holy Bible.
'The Reformation was "a devastation of England, which was at the time when this event took place, the Happiest country, that the world had ever seen; but Afterwards marched on plundering and inflicting torments on the people, and shedding their innocent blood; hospitals and other religious foundations were confiscated by the Reformers and Jews, who brought to England the misery of Pauperism "
-William Cobbett, Protestant Author-A History of the Protestant Reformation in England and Ireland
I would like to share this wonderful film of Luther's amazing life that we watched every Reformation Day (October 31). Too bad about the untrue and disparaging comments attached. Is there a way to share this video without the comments attached? Martin Luther stood strong for the Word of God alone, and he spoke the truth from the Word of God, standing up to whoever didn't "get it". To some it may have sounded "unfair", but as he said, as say I, "On the Word of God I stand--I can do no other!"
@standup4America I'm not exactly sure what you're asking for. Share with whom? By what medium? The entire video or just this clip? I'm not opposed to people having the right to express their opinions, just as I have mine.
It would be interesting if God like in the past with Job and in many other cases, let the devil have a shot at testing our faith and God allowed Satan in as Pope (as Luther thought) to split the church as a test to see if it would be righted by the churches leaders and congregation; to test our faith to see if we trusted God or our fellow man to save us. If so we are failing the test as of now and with every word used as a weapon the devil smiles a little bigger.
New age Publishers have left out a few of the ot the Bible that Luther seperated from the rest of the bible, Macabees because it was purely historical and the a few others because they contradicted other parts of the Bible. Lutherans and Catholics mirror eachother in many ways due to us being the same church until the corruption. Luther believed that the indulgence slinging pope truely was the anti-christ and no matter what your church tells you indulences were sold over Europe.
These posts of 500 characters are killing me.The Protestant King James reads word for word with the Catholic King James. People don't say THOU and Shalt anymore so the Bible was simply translated into English that people speak and can understand. The Catholic Bible left out writings that Early Christians read and held as the word of God. I have a book of the History of the Church which shows the forming of the church. It also talks about the 3 Popes reigning at the same time fighting for power.
Lutherans often refer to grace. We are spared by the Grace of God. While we deserved to pay the penalty for our sins, God had a different plan. Christ paid the debt and we receive forgiveness and eternal life from Him that is offered out of unconditional love. That's why it's called grace because it is truly undeserved.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Sin was brought into world when Satan lured the first people God created into temptation through their own free will and weakness, breaking the perfect relationship between God and us. From that point on, sin became part of our very existence. Because God also demands perfect obedience, our ultimate punishment became death.
We all fall short of God's expectations because we are all born sinful. Sin can be summed up as all the things we say, think, do, and don't do, that fall outside of God's holy will for our lives and end up separating us from God.
Depending on which transation of the bibe our King James is in old English and refers to The Holy Ghost the updated English versions say Holy Spirit. Saying "Yeshua" ,"Jesus Christ", or "Heysues Christo" people are referring to the same Savior. The Holy Spirit calls us to believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, keeps us in the one true faith, and equips us for living out our faith. He is the whisper in our heart's ear.
There is only one true God - the Triune God - who exists in three separate but equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God the Father is our maker and the creator of all things. By the Father's word, all things were made, and we are His most beloved creation; we are closest to His heart. The Son is Jesus Christ, who came to earth as the perfect "go-between" between God and humanity. He has redeemed us and is the voice to the Father on our behalf.
I HAVE A DREAM ....THAT CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS WOULD NOT BE ANGRY AT EACHOTHER OTHER AND NOT HATE ONE ANOTHER AND INSTEAD LOOK AT THE HEART AND TRY TO COME TO A BIBLICAL BROTHERHOOD,....I HAVE A DREAM ....THAT ALL PEOPLE MAY SEE IN US THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD AND THE HEART OF CHRIST AS OPPOSED TO ARGUMENTS AND JUDGING ONE ANOTHER OVER WHO IS MORE RIGHT THEN THE OTHER...
St. Jerome translated from greek to latin. His most obvious mistake is the miss-interpetation of the greek verbs pertaining to the latin belief of original sin.
'The Reformation was "a devastation of England, which was at the time when this event took place, the happiest country, perhaps, that the world had ever seen; but afterwards marched on plundering, devastating, and inflicting torments on the people, and shedding their innocent blood; abbeys, priories, nunneries, hospitals and other religious foundations were confiscated by the Reformers and Jews, who brought to England the misery of pauperism "
@StSimonMartyr The darkest hour occurs just before the dawn. The Reformation brought an end to religious slavery and freedom of soul for the masses by telling them the truth based on the Word of God.
There was ONE Christia body prior to reformation. Now theres 35,000 Competing Christians sects, all in heresy.
The Bible was simply Mistranslated BY Luther Into the Vulgate.
The 1st Printings were in latin For the Catholics. In the RIGHT translation.
The word of GOD is now corrupted, mistranslated, even PC Bibles so as not to offens Sodomites and Women and to Worship Lucifer the Burning Bush, NOT Jesus Christ
@StSimonMartyr First of all, unity under anything but the truth is meaningless. Second, Christian sects are not "competing" against each other- in fact, they agree on the fundamental truths of the Bible and the Person of Jesus Christ. They may choose to emphasis certain elements of our faith. Thirdly, your statement about translation is simply flawed: Luther never was accused of doing such, and there certainly would've been an outcry if he had. Instead the outcry was against the Catholic Church!
@Blessings2UForever (cont) It was the Catholic Church that made people confess their sins to priests and pay indulgences, which only lined the pockets of those who held offices as it has no basis in Scripture. The Catholic Church during that time was as much a political as it was a religious institiution that stood to lose much wealth and power if Luther's message was spread. Luther himself gained nothing from his actions except maintaining a clear conscience before God while risking everything.
Luther, may he Rot in Hell, had over 150 Mistranslations in his KJ Bible, simply mistranslated in the vulgate, most were too stupid to Know Linguistics.
King James was a Sodomite queer by the way.
Now there are over 50 mistanslated VERSIONS of the Bible, even Politically correct bibles so as not to offend.
Yes, all 35,000 Protest-ant Sects ie 'Christians' compete with one another, none can agree on anything, least of all how to interpret scripture, Zionism, IsraHell, Lucifier or Jesus Christ.
The GREEK, ARAMIC and LATIN texts are all infallible, incorruptible and precise.
The Newer Protestant translations are full of mistranslations. Luther even tried to Omit James and Maccabees as it contradicted his errant premise of By Faith Alone-a Heresy.
@StSimonMartyr You clearly are biased in your view of translation, as Ettoredipugar shows as well. You really think that God meant to keep His Word in the hands of an elite few? Maybe that's why Jesus taught the masses instead of the religious leaders, too? ;) By the way, there are people who are able to read the oldest available texts of the Bible and confirm that the present translations are indeed accurate. Also note Eph 2:8 :)
Im biases about Facts. In that I require and insist on them.
Yes, GOD's word must be taught by trained religious clerics, not the morons masquerading today as 'Pastors' ie wolves in sheeps clothing -Like rabid ZIonists & John Hagees of the world.
Tradition Led the Church for 400 years, not a book.
The present translations are edited and must be approved by a council of Rabbis.
yes, Jews tell you what you can and cant hear. Like everything else in the Western world.
@StSimonMartyr You. are.. a. hypocrite! There will always be hypocrites, there will always be wolves in sheeps clothing, and there will always be wars. Todays wolves in sheeps clothing, and the popes and priest are the same. It's just in Luther's time they had alot more power than they do now. Also what you said about Mat 23 is right, and the catholics go directly against that. The catholics worship them selfs, there traditions and other men. They are hypocrites, and I say woe to you!
@StSimonMartyr I. I know millions dead. but, who were the millions people and who killed them? 2. Were in the bible are the catholic traditions? I have not seen one catholic tradition ever "outlined" by Jesus and his apostles. 3. I don't remember Paul teaching the Thessalonians catholic traditions. 4. I don't know about you, but I don't believe in making things up as I go. Tell me if I’m wrong, but didn't you guys add 12 books Bible? 5. Do you have any Idea what I believe in?
1 Cor. 11:2, "Now I praise you because you remember me in everything, and hold firmly to the Traditions, just as I delivered them to you."
Traditions were TAUGHT, moron. No bible for 400 yrs.
Millions were killed by Heretic Protestants, just as in England, Reformers who brought debtors prison and slavery to Christians via Usury, which never existed when the Church ran it.
@StSimonMartyr Why do you lie? If that were true why does the Bible teach against what you believe, and you would be able to tell me were the catholic traditions were written. I rejoice that I am counted worthy to be persecuted in Jesus’ name. I thank you for persecuting me for it has increased my faith by ten fold. You have taught me that what I believe is true. I hope you will read the Bible and learn from it. Start with reading Romans, all of it. Goodbye.
The Bible is very clear ON Tradition IN the New Testament.
You will not be persecuted, the Jews give Protest-ants a pass, you helped them pass Roe V Wade and Slaughter 60 million babies. It was only the Pro Life Catholic Church that stood in their way.
Jews & Prots allied together.
Ive read the Bible 3 times and studied it for years.
You worship the Holy Spirit, and THE Lord. NOT the Holy Ghost and OUR Lord.
Hence you worship Lucifer, the Jews GOD. The Anti Christ.
@StSimonMartyr Oh hello again, have you found those Bible verses yet? The masses came from people spreading the good word of Jesus because Jesus said to do so. How do I know this, because the Bible tells me so. For now on if you sent me any more useless messages I will say. Oh hello again, have you found those Bible verses yet?
Where is the Bible verse of the Holy TRINITY, Heretic?
Yet you believe in it, why?
Or Immaculate conception, Virgin Mary,
This oral teaching was accepted by Christians, just as they accepted the written teaching that came to them later. Jesus told his disciples: "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me" (Luke 10:16).
'So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ" (Rom. 10:17).
@StSimonMartyr I understand that. What I’m trying to get across to you is that. Why aren’t they written down in the Bible? If the Apostles TAUGHT the catholic traditions and rituals then they would have written them down in the books that they wrote like the rest of the traditions and teachings. The Bible says that the only way to heaven is threw Jesus. You people and the Jews believe that the way to heaven is threw traditions and rituals. You see what I am saying?
@StSimonMartyr Now, If that last message makes you mad, and you what to send me another 5 page long message. Then keep it to your self! I got tired of this argument a long time ago. But, if you want to stop arguing, and believe what I say, then go ahead.
@StSimonMartyr Also when I call the catholics hypocrites. I do not mean the lost souls that follow them. I mean the popes and priest that lie to them.
@StSimonMartyr If 1 Cor. 11:2 and 2 Thess. 2:15 tells me to keep the traditions that Bible TAUGHT. Then I will keep the traditions that Bible TAUGHT. Not, the traditions that man teaches. Why, because Gods word tells me so, not some preacher.
@StSimonMartyr If catholic traditions are written in Bible I will follow them, but if they are not I will not follow them. I have never seen the catholic traditions TAUGHT in the Bible. So, unless you can tell me were in the Bible the catholic traditions are written. I can not, and I will not trust you.
@StSimonMartyr Oh very good, if you have read the Bible 3 times and studied it for years I’m shore that you could tell me where the catholic traditions are written. So, go and find where they are written. Come back and tell me where, and I will go read them. Don’t send me any more messages until you have all of them. Also last time I checked I’m Pro Life, and I worship Jesus Christ not the Jews God. I don’t believe you have a clue what I believe in. Bye Prideful Hypocrite.
Where do you think Christians got their Mass, their Sacraments, their beliefs and Faith?
From TRADITIONS, moron.
All of these were clearly defined.
Dr Bernard Nathanson, former NARAL Director and abortionist, in his book CONFESSIONS OF AN X ABORTIONIST, detailed how Jews duped Protest-ants into an alliance, against the Pro Life Catholic Church to pass Roe V Wade in 1973.
@StSimonMartyr Oh hello again, have you found those Bible verses yet? Also, Woe to you Prideful Hypocrite, for we are all sinners. I see nothing but Pride in your messages, and I have seen nothing but them in my inbox for the past 2 days now. Your pride is so great, that reading your messages is heart braking. I gave you every chance to prove your self, but you have done nothing but curse me. I'm sorry, but I am going to block you now. Goodbye.
@StSimonMartyr I think you should do some more scholarly work. The Gospels were written in the first and second centuries. You shouldn't pass yourself off as being intelligent without doing exhaustive research and critical thinking. This just goes to show how truly anti-intellectual you really are. So don't "listen to a preacher blindly", you may end up in Hell because of it.
@StSimonMartyr No, they're not opposite. First off, the antichrist is not holy. Secondly, Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are the same thing - spirit and ghost are the same definition pretty much. Where does the Bible say otherwise? Nowhere. Also, the Jews worship the same God we do, not Lucifer. Plus, the Catholic "army" is an overliteral translation of standing up to those who oppose Christ. We're not supposed to show hatred towards them, we aren't supposed to fight them literally...
@StSimonMartyr Deception has come to you. Yes, Lucifer is alive, but the Jews do NOT worship him. This, Jewish "Talmud" is as accurate as the author of it. It was written by the rabbi, but I'm positive it wasn't inspired by God, as the Old Testament was. They twisted the truth of the Torah and what the true law was. Also, Jesus made all Gentiles clean. Jesus was born of a supernatural event performed by God. And that last part - it is accurate as the author.
THE NAMES HOLY GHOST & HOLY SPIRIT ARE NOT SYNONYMOUS
Summa Theologica,1947 Benziger Brothers, Volume I, Question 13, 4th Article
Augustine:(Super Joan., Tract v):Those who were baptized with John's baptism (Holy Spirit) needed to be baptized with the baptism of our Lord (Holy Ghost)-John's baptism neither conferred grace nor imprinted a character, but was merely in water, as HE says himself (MT. iii. 11
Satanist Albert Pike- 'Gnostics held that it composed the igneous body of the Holy Spirit'
@StSimonMartyr There has been a growth of non-denominational churches/interdenominational churches whose very existance shows that unity exists among Protestants, instead of competition like you say. And I agree with ThomasHale that your unkind attitude towards others reflects the fallacy of your argument: you sound more like the world than a child of God.
@StSimonMartyr Hope that God is more merciful to you than you have been to Luther. Luther has already stood before the Terrible judgment seat of Christ. he may be in heaven. By the way you don't rot in hell you roast.
He Allied WITH Jewry and promised them safe passage through Saxony, they betrayed him, he Then wrote Jews And Their Lies.
But the damage was done, his actions resulted in the 30 year war, and the 100 year War.
MIllions died.
Christendom was forver split / frctured and Jewry ultimately, turned the world on its head bringing forth Communism, Feminism, Abortion and Hundreds of Millions have died as a result.
@StSimonMartyr Jesus said "And call no one your father on earth, for One is your Father, the One in Heaven. Nor be called leaders, for One is your Leader, the Christ. But the greater of you shall be your servant. And whoever will exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever will humble himself shall be exalted. But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of Heaven before men; for you do not enter, nor do you allow those entering to go in." Mat 23: 9-13
"Call no man father" does not apply to one’s biological father.
It also doesn’t exclude calling one’s ancestors "father," shown in Acts 7:2, where Stephen refers to "our father Abraham," or in Romans 9:10, where Paul speaks of "our father Isaac."
MT 23, Jesus didn’t intend for his words understood literally.
The passage reads, "But you are not to be called ‘rabbi,’ for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. Neither be called masters, for you have one master, the Christ"
@StSimonMartyr Close, but no. There are a ton of religions that call them self’s Christian, but are not. As I said before, there will always be wolves in sheep’s clothing. So, I will ask again, what do I believe in?
@StSimonMartyr Where is the correct English translation then?? Do you think Catholics were going to keep the bible in Latin for the next 400 years and never let anyone read it??
@StSimonMartyr do you not realize your whole Bible was written by Jews and is the Jewish take on history of that time period. If Marin Luther was trying to bring down the Catholic Church for the Jews he would have tried to poke holes in Jesus Christ as our Savior. You need to take the tin foil off of your head and lay off of the Nazi propoganda. I will post what Lutherans believe spaced over new posts.
Jews were DAMNED by GOD. Jesus called them Snakes, Serpents, OF Their Father the Devil, Liars & hypocrites. They Deny & Killed GOD,you claim they are His chosen people?
Practicing Catholics= NOW God's Chosen People.
'I testify again to every man that is circumcised that he is a debtor to the law, Christ is become of No effect unto you, ye are Fallen from grace' (Gal. 5:3-4)
"And if ye be Christ's then are ye Abraham's seed & Heirs according to the promise"
@StSimonMartyr The Jewish people didn't kill Jesus it was the Romans... and that's if you exclude the part where Jesus called to the Father to take his spirit.
'Own countrymen the same things those churches Suffered From the Jews, who Both Killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and Drove out us, and pleased Not God, and are Contrary to All men'
@StSimonMartyr ...Jesus was speaking to the Religious people...those priests of the Law. As far as catholics go...I don't put everyone in one catagory. They believe that Jesus and He alone is the ticket to heaven, no works, money, or deeds or or whatever can add to it. Only Jesus..no saints to paved the way....only JESUS. No good works or anything else...nothing added or taken away. Jesus only.
@StSimonMartyr You're mistaken. You don’t understand the place of good works in salvation. Good works are to be the inevitable fruit and result of having been saved, not the cause or root of one’s salvation. Fruit grows on a tree that has life. The tree doesn’t derive its life from the fruit, but a living tree will produce fruit. You are putting the cart before the horse to even think that a lost sinner is even capable of producing any good on his own prior to being saved!
@StSimonMartyr You need to understand that the WHOLE POINT in God saving sinners is to change them and make them do good works. God would be wasting His time if He saved people who were already producing good works without being saved! Don’t you see? We can’t do good works until He saves us, and that’s precisely why we need to be saved first if we are ever to produce good works. God saves before a person does good works because they NEED to be saved IN ORDER to do good works.
@StSimonMartyr I don't know what Roe V. Wade has to do with this, because neither my wife nor I, nor any of my children, were supporters of Roe V. Wade. "Guilt by Association" is a logical fallacy, you know.
"No need for good works..." Did you not read anything I wrote? Luther and myself believe good works are NECESSARY for anybody to call themselves saved. The issue is, good works are not the root, but the fruit, of the living tree. Good works are the necessary evidence.
If somebody says they're saved but has no good works, then they're not saved. You and I argree on that. But somebody else, like yourself, who supposes that one must obtain salvation BY your own good works, instead of relying 100% on Christ's substitutionary atonement, is also not saved. The place of good works comes UPON being saved, not IN ORDER to be saved.
@StSimonMartyr “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and THAT (including faith) not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus FOR (not by) good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2:8-10).
@StSimonMartyr “Who gave Himself for us, THAT He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works” (Titus 2:14). Good works are not possible until God first saves a person.
@StSimonMartyr You’re quoting James 2:14 but you must be blind. James didn’t say “Faith derives from works,” but that’s what you’re making him out to be saying! James taught the truth that true faith is accompanied by, and results in, a life of good works. Faith that is not followed by good works is a dead kind of faith. James never taught that justifying faith came about through good works, yet that’s what you’re assuming he said.
Paul taught the same thing in Ephesians 2:10. A person is saved BY grace, not BY good works (v. 8). But verse 10 says that such salvation will result in the person doing good works. This isn't rocket science, but I guess it's too simple for you to believe it, because you want to work for your salvation. Keep working, and you'll see where you'll end up. It's awfully hot there.
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has No deeds? Can such faith save them? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is Dead."
Protest-ants preach that FAITH ALONE and BIBLE ALONE Saves.
Protestants Allied WITH Jews to legalize Abortion-Dr Bernard Nathanson, Director of NARAL, wrote just how they duped Protestants in CONFESSIONS OF AN X ABORTIONIST.
Youve got the blood of 53 Million babies on your hands, sinner.
@StSimonMartyr Look, if you want to talk about abortion and protest-ants’ hand in it, fine, but not at the same time as the topic at hand: faith and works and salvation.
Your problem, or at least one of them, is ignorance concerning what Luther and the other reformers taught concerning “faith alone”, as you call it. Let me teach you something: it is not “faith alone;” it is “sola fide”, which is “only faith,” or “faith only.” No reformer ever taught that faith should be “alone;” they all taught that an “alone faith” is a dead faith; that’s what James wrote, after all.
True faith is not a faith that’s all by itself, or faith “alone,” as you ignorantly put it; the teaching of “sola fide” was that God justifies a sinner by faith only, and not by faith plus something else. Now that faith must not be alone; it must have works attached to it (we both agree on that), but those works are not the basis of justification before God; only the faith is. That point is where the rub is with the errant Roman view.
Technically, the basis for any sinner’s justification is the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith is merely the conduit that God grants certain sinners so that they will receive His justification.
The reason you can’t see what James is saying is because you’re in the Roman Catholic cult and it’s preventing you from seeing clearly, just like anybody else in any other cult. The cult they’re in blinds them to the plain and simple truth that’s there. The only way to see the truth is to shed the cult and put it behind you, but since the cult itself is the centerpiece of your worship, the last thing on your mind would be to abandon it.
Protest-ants now have 35,000 Competing Sects, none agree on anything, esp scripture.
Jesus established 1 Church.
'You are Peter & Upon This ROCK, I will build My Church' (There is NO Plural)
All of Europe was United at 1 time & the world prospered, now we're divided & conquered per the Anti Christ Jew, there is Chaos-Abortion, sodomy, apostacy & more death looming via WW3.
Luther & Protest-ants preach Sinning 'Boldy' & often, yet Christ Taught that NARROW IS THE PATH & FEW ENTER
Sola Fide translated means (BY) FAITH ALONE and was the basis of Heretic Luthers new doctrine.
'The doctrine of Sola fide or "by Faith alone" asserts God's pardon for guilty sinners is granted to and received through faith, conceived as Excluding all "works",Alone.'
This is Heretical & leads all followers to Hell.
Luther contradicted himself regularly. He mistranslated Bible into the Vulgate (150 Mistranslations) sought to OMIT all of James & Maccabees as it contradicted HIS doctrine.
@StSimonMartyr You have two major strikes against you: you're in a cult, and you're not teachable. Why should I continue throwing my pearls to swine? You keep adding new points, which I'm open to discuss, but this is not the appropriate forum to have a meaningful dialogue.
You also seem incapable of understanding how justification can be based on one singular thing (i.e., faith), and yet that one thing requiring good works to accompany it. You want the good works that accompany faith to be part of the justification. And you falsely accuse us of believing that good works are not necessary to faith (even though I’ve repeated myself on that point more than once), all because we insist that good works are not part of justification.
How much clearer can I say it: Good works are not part of justification (justification before God as Paul spoke about, not justification before other men as James spoke about), but they are a necessary part of faith. Both Paul and James taught that faith must be accompanied by good works to prove that it’s real faith.
But as for this thorny term “justification,” Paul spoke about justification before God, and that is received through faith only (again, not a faith that is divorced from good works). Paul and James were not fighting each other, but were back to back, fighting different opponents.
Paul was fighting against Jews who supposed that works, such as circumcision, were required to be justified before God. So Paul said no, justification before God is by faith only. (And that faith will not be alone—how many times must Paul, James, and I tell you this?)
James, on the other hand, were fighting a different group of people. These people had the attitude of, “Hey, I can believe in God and then live like the devil and still go to heaven!” James emphatically combated such an evil mentality. The devil believes in God too, James said, and the devil’s not going to heaven; what makes you think you are if all you have is belief in God? The devil even trembles at God, which can’t be said of a lot of so-called Believers.
James believed the truth Paul taught—that justification before God is on faith only, but James emphasized the necessity of good works that accompany such faith. And when James used the word “justify,” he was talking about justifying your faith to your friends and neighbors! If a neighbor is hungry and in need, you can’t justify your faith to him unless you back it up with good works!
God, of course, knows your heart and can see if you have faith; God doesn’t need to see good works to know if you have faith; God justifies a person on faith only, not faith and good works. But that faith had better be backed up by good works, otherwise you won’t be able to justify yourself to your neighbor, and God will have to tell you that your faith is actually a phony type of faith.
Even though God doesn’t need to see good works to know if a person has faith, He does require good works of everyone who has faith. And God will not justify anyone who says he has faith but does not also have works that accompany that faith. God will know, then, that that faith is not real faith.
I know, there are many other peculiarities to your cult, like justification being something that can increase and decrease, like adding books to Holy Scripture, like believing a mere man can speak infallibly, like idolatry, like not believing Jesus’ work is finished, and many other heinous atrocities. Somebody basically drowned you in a cult, and your lungs are so full of water that when you speak, you don’t realize that what you say is mumbo-jumbo.
Protest-ants add new editions to the Bible every year-over 50 new versions, even PC Bibles so as not to offend Jews,Queers & women. All edited by the council of Rabbis.
Christ established 1 Church & 1 Man-Peter,as his successor,to Teach Infallibly,not speak infallibly.
As a Heretic Prot-u contradict your own heresy, espousing good works-Sola Fide doctrine is that By Faith Alone, one is Saved.
There are now 35,000 Competing Protest-ant Sects (Cults) None can agree on Anything. Chaos reigns.
@StSimonMartyr And Christ said "This is my body, broken for you, (i.e.: The church of God is the Body of Christ,) Take this and DIVIDE IT among yourselves." Therefore our faith in Christ is one, the Lord is one, we are baptised into the same Spirit, there is no competition, our religion is complete in Christ from the foundation of the world. But among us, Every tribe, nation, language, and culture. Or there are as many schism as fit in a pew, and I will give you that much. At least we read it.
And here we are watching a scene from a movie about the man who defied a Reich, a religious giant, an entire established understanding... And who is remembered and honored?
Certainly not the Emperors and religious leaders. Rather the man who stood for the truth!
Such is the memory of all who lay their lives on the line for truth and liberty.
@sovereigngrace12 i laugh every time i see someone ask where they can get a film!! they ALWAYS say theyve looked everywhere, and someone ALWAYS tells them its on Amazon!! lol Surely that is one of the first places youd look!! lol

1Brandyberry 1 month ago
@1Brandyberry Right, I agree. Faith is the channel through which jusification is received.
By the same token, we must be wary of terminology like "saving faith." The better term is "justifying faith." :)

If you say we must have good works + Jesus...then is death was for nothing. If you say we must have sacraments + Jesus...then his death was for nought. Remember that God has done everything that needed to be done...and Jesus finished it at the cross. All the stuff that comes after....is done out of love and obedience to Christ and his work....NOT OURS.
gospelgirl1964 1 month ago
He did say that. I had forgotten. Then came the 30 Years war.
Huge casualties. 2 million? The precursor to WWI.
I think it was worth it. Without the Reformation, Christianity would have become another Islam. A fascist institution.

There are over 150 Mistranslations in Luthers Bible, which was simply put into the Vulgate for the Sodomite Queer, King James.
You can google King James Mistranslations.
Entire meanings are lost and misinterpreted by the changing of one word, let alone 150.
Luther also tried to Omit James and did omit Maccabees as it contradicted his entire premise in his revolt, plotted by Jewry.
Luther also added the word ALONE to By Faith,as well. Added it, it was not there prior to.

Because God also demands perfect obedience, our ultimate punishment became death.
wallywallz 5 months ago

About GOD
There is only one true God - the Triune God - who exists in three separate but equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God the Father is our maker and the creator of all things. By the Father's word, all things were made, and we are His most beloved creation; we are closest to His heart. The Son is Jesus Christ, who came to earth as the perfect "go-between" between God and humanity. He has redeemed us and is the voice to the Father on our behalf.

Luther was an Occultist, Backed by Jewry.
His resulted in the 30 and 100 year war.
StSimonMartyr 6 months ago
@StSimonMartyr First of all, unity under anything but the truth is meaningless. Second, Christian sects are not "competing" against each other- in fact, they agree on the fundamental truths of the Bible and the Person of Jesus Christ. They may choose to emphasis certain elements of our faith. Thirdly, your statement about translation is simply flawed: Luther never was accused of doing such, and there certainly would've been an outcry if he had. Instead the outcry was against the Catholic Church!
Blessings2UForever 6 months ago
@Blessings2UForever (cont) It was the Catholic Church that made people confess their sins to priests and pay indulgences, which only lined the pockets of those who held offices as it has no basis in Scripture. The Catholic Church during that time was as much a political as it was a religious institiution that stood to lose much wealth and power if Luther's message was spread. Luther himself gained nothing from his actions except maintaining a clear conscience before God while risking everything.

Blessings2UForever 6 months ago
YES, Im a sure.
The GREEK, ARAMIC and LATIN texts are all infallible, incorruptible and precise.
The Newer Protestant translations are full of mistranslations. Luther even tried to Omit James and Maccabees as it contradicted his errant premise of By Faith Alone-a Heresy.
Google King James Mistranslations..
See for yourself.
StSimonMartyr 6 months ago
@StSimonMartyr You clearly are biased in your view of translation, as Ettoredipugar shows as well. You really think that God meant to keep His Word in the hands of an elite few? Maybe that's why Jesus taught the masses instead of the religious leaders, too? ;) By the way, there are people who are able to read the oldest available texts of the Bible and confirm that the present translations are indeed accurate. Also note Eph 2:8 :)

StSimonMartyr 5 months ago

Good works are to be the inevitable fruit and result of having been saved, not the cause or root of one’s salvation. Fruit grows on a tree that has life. The tree doesn’t derive its life from the fruit, but a living tree will produce fruit. You are putting the cart before the horse to even think that a lost sinner is even capable of producing any good on his own prior to being saved!
chehsed 1 month ago
@StSimonMartyr You need to understand that the WHOLE POINT in God saving sinners is to change them and make them do good works. God would be wasting His time if He saved people who were already producing good works without being saved! Don’t you see? We can’t do good works until He saves us, and that’s precisely why we need to be saved first if we are ever to produce good works. God saves before a person does good works because they NEED to be saved IN ORDER to do good works.

Protest-ant heretics believe Once Saved, Always saved.
That one can committ murder, after being saved, and still attain salvation.
No need for contrition, confession or good works, Is Heresy.
Luther commanded followers to Sin Boldy & Often.
We are baptized, Into the Faith, practice our Faith, obtain the sacraments and Serve GOD through our Faith, via Works. TO HIM.
Protest-ants allied WITH Jewry to Pass Roe V Wade, and Slaughter our Children, 53 million since 1973. 4000 per day.

Luther preached and taught BY FAITH ALONE, and by the 'Bible alone', even though it is and was mistranslated for Sodomite Queer King James.
'Faith Without Works Is Dead.'
- James 2:14-26
The Church teaches Works, Faith, Sacraments and Grace is necessary for Salvation.
Protest-ant heretics for centuries claimed only Faith was necessary.
StSimonMartyr 1 month ago

Let me teach you something: it is not “faith alone;” it is “sola fide”, which is “only faith,” or “faith only.” No reformer ever taught that faith should be “alone;” they all taught that an “alone faith” is a dead faith; that’s what James wrote, after all.
chehsed 1 month ago
True faith is not a faith that’s all by itself, or faith “alone,” as you ignorantly put it; the teaching of “sola fide” was that God justifies a sinner by faith only, and not by faith plus something else. Now that faith must not be alone; it must have works attached to it (we both agree on that), but those works are not the basis of justification before God; only the faith is. That point is where the rub is with the errant Roman view.
chehsed 1 month ago

And you falsely accuse us of believing that good works are not necessary to faith (even though I’ve repeated myself on that point more than once), all because we insist that good works are not part of justification.
chehsed 1 month ago
How much clearer can I say it: Good works are not part of justification (justification before God as Paul spoke about, not justification before other men as James spoke about), but they are a necessary part of faith. Both Paul and James taught that faith must be accompanied by good works to prove that it’s real faith.
chehsed 1 month ago
But as for this thorny term “justification,” Paul spoke about justification before God, and that is received through faith only (again, not a faith that is divorced from good works). Paul and James were not fighting each other, but were back to back, fighting different opponents.
chehsed 1 month ago
Paul was fighting against Jews who supposed that works, such as circumcision, were required to be justified before God. So Paul said no, justification before God is by faith only. (And that faith will not be alone—how many times must Paul, James, and I tell you this?)
chehsed 1 month ago
James, on the other hand, were fighting a different group of people. These people had the attitude of, “Hey, I can believe in God and then live like the devil and still go to heaven!” James emphatically combated such an evil mentality. The devil believes in God too, James said, and the devil’s not going to heaven; what makes you think you are if all you have is belief in God? The devil even trembles at God, which can’t be said of a lot of so-called Believers.
chehsed 1 month ago
James believed the truth Paul taught—that justification before God is on faith only, but James emphasized the necessity of good works that accompany such faith. And when James used the word “justify,” he was talking about justifying your faith to your friends and neighbors! If a neighbor is hungry and in need, you can’t justify your faith to him unless you back it up with good works!
chehsed 1 month ago
God, of course, knows your heart and can see if you have faith; God doesn’t need to see good works to know if you have faith; God justifies a person on faith only, not faith and good works. But that faith had better be backed up by good works, otherwise you won’t be able to justify yourself to your neighbor, and God will have to tell you that your faith is actually a phony type of faith.
chehsed 1 month ago
Even though God doesn’t need to see good works to know if a person has faith, He does require good works of everyone who has faith. And God will not justify anyone who says he has faith but does not also have works that accompany that faith. God will know, then, that that faith is not real faith.
chehsed 1 month ago
