  • I found out that my car speaker was broken because I could only hear the girls singing. True story

  • Brings back a tsunami of those sweet flower power energies of the times.... I'm blessed to have lived them.

  • Michelle was so freaking hot! No homo.

  • @311stoneybaby311 Anybody who says, "No Homo" knows damn good and well they mean it in a homosexual way. Ugh, another lesbo in today's world, shocker.

  • @Cannabis919 Lol, you have me figured out. Yay for you! Here have some rainbows and sunshine!

  • I was only 5 when this Song released, but I knew every song from the 60s and 70s. We didn't have I-pods or cell-phones. We had a plain Radio's, Car Radio's and Record Player's. Music was much better back then. Life was better back then, Nobody was out of work, and the U.S didn't owe over a Trillion Dollars!

  • @52298Beebop2

Plus no worries of terrorism or global warming etc...

  • @TheBunHunter Yes, of course that too. But I didn't really want to put that because we had that at the time, just not as bad. The Cuban Missile Crisis with Kennedy and the other worries back then.

  • @52298Beebop2 I was only 8 when the song came out and you're right about some things (economy & debt) but there were a whole lot of people who could not get decent work, women whose husbands left them were SOL, black people did not stand a chance at most jobs & higher education. I am white but even growing up in California I noticed a whole lot of folks were worse off from friends who had no dad, were not white, straight etc...a lot of ppl had it rough.

  • @1caninelover My mother told me when I was 2 in '1962 we had to Move to a Much calmer area were there weren't Violence from the Civil Right's Movement. After that mess my home town became one of the most peaceful places to live in the state of NJ.

But as I look back the '60s & '70s weren't as bad as today.

  • @52298Beebop2 When my husbands' family left Montreal in the '60s they considered living in the South (they were looking for a good climate) did not like what they saw in racial attitudes, kept on driving until they ended up in California. '60s were good but I can't say it wasn't because I was a kid & it fun to be young. The '70s? I grew up with a gay twin brother, a friend who was black and gay...I know 1st hand how those who did not fit in were treated and it was not pretty back then...

  • I want a Ham Sandwich !

  • I miss the cohella valley!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE YOU INDIANA

  • From California: all the leaves are brown, the sky is gray and no one is safe and warm in L.A.

  • @IHaveAGoodReason The song is about California, Hollywood is a city within the greater Los Angeles area (I was born there) L.A. is not safe and I live in the California mountains (grey skies, snow etc...) it's not 80 degrees in L.A. in January. You have a good reason to do what? Whine about living in some frigid crummy, cold little state & fail geography?

  • @1caninelover oh sorry. i live in s.f. california, and i rock at geography, i just thought you were trying to offend california. and i have a good reason to flag you for spam.

  • @IHaveAGoodReason I thought you were trying to offend California as well (and) would have said the same thing (re have a good reason for flagging for spam, funny!) I haven't lived in L.A. in awhile...up in the Southern Californa mountains we actually do have seasons...we have grey sky & dead leaves now. Lived in Santa Cruz for a bit many years ago but the mountains in that area are too close to the coast for much changes in the climate.

  • what does it matter when you were born? this music is timeless and still can be enjoyed by anyone...

  • i hope every f***king person that heres this song likes it

  • all i have to say this is a really great song

  • @baseball2k11 i say that to myself allll the time... ehhh

  • @baseball2k11 You took the words from my mouth.

  • @baseball2k11 I feel bad for you, I was born in the early 1960s and I had the three best decades of music, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

  • @baseball2k11 why have I seen this comment on every video of an old song?

  • @yrtsg I don't know maybe because good music was from way before people were born?

  • @baseball2k11

  • It doesn't matter how old you are, It's just important you like this music or at least appreciate it :)

  • look youtube, when i typed in california, i didnt expect to see California Gurls with that girl and dogg. I wanted to hear the real stuff.

  • RAP AND ROCK!

  • I don't know what it is about this year, but I'm not ready to get hit with the cold AT ALL.

  • you know im 25 and i never really got into this music...but i gotta say, growing up and really just sitting down and listening to the lyrics...theres a lot of substance to this music, i can really feel it.

  • @cmtrusst the cool thing is it still feels great 40 years later, you hear the song and it propels you back in time!

  • I was born yesterday... this music is great ... like my comment please

  • @MirrorImageOfYou Why are you being a thumb whore?

  • @tokiomarie1 Lol... I was being sarcastic because the youngens always post the same thing on videos such as.. Im young & I love this music better than what they have nowadays yada yada yada." Its like ok already.... just enjoy the music.. .... ( I guess some foxes just aint quick as others smh)

  • @MirrorImageOfYou Foxes? I laughed to myself, that's different. People don't talk like that anymore. You are definitely old school. :)

  • @tokiomarie1 Yah Im pretty old.. thats why Im watching this video lol

  • @tokiomarie1 Btw... I like that moniker... (thumb whore).. . That was a good one. Im going to have to use that one for some thumb whores that I know on facebook

  • @MirrorImageOfYou lol, I hate when people comment about their age! if they need strangers on ithe internet to think they are cool, then maybe they really need help!

  • @AKix32296 I agree... Exactly my sarcastic point lol lol

  • @AKix32296 yep totally agree.

  • @latenightlogic it is so annoying.. i mean no one cares about ppls ages...

  • @AKix32296 I liked what someone wrote about liking your own era in music...who cares really how old you are to like this. It's just attention seeking. I enjoy the alternative scene of today and some mainstream music, but I also like this song and others from around that era. Quit complaining about the music of today (I know I have) and start enjoying your era as well.

This is a tremedous song, a beautiful epic.

  • I LOVE the harmonies on this track, so pretty.

  • If you weren't hip to what was happening in Calfornia in the late sixties you don't get it. Keep making silly comments about things you can't comprehend.

  • @ShnarfMyDarf I'm sure you're no prize yourself.

  • @MultiDave66 While that may be true, I'm glad I'm not fat.

  • @cutie6611 aka the skinny girl

  • Wow how recording has improved since this song. But its still an awesome song.

  • Balance left if you wanna hear the mama's. Balance right for the papa's.

  • Heard this song on Forrest Gump and remembered it from childhood, spent ages trying to track it and found it!!

    Yaaayyyy!!!!

  • @millz726 : So glad you found it. That movie introed me to many cool songs from the ago, too. Such a great movie and message within. Enjoy the song.

  • @Superegio42 thanks :)

and how can I not love this tune??!

  • The 60s this songs remind me of Austin powers

  • I'm just trying to get my head around why people think of The Beatles when this song is played. The only reason I can think of is because I could imagine John Lennon singing this. It's a beautiful song, am I right ? I'm right :D

  • @iHaveAGiraffeSoNerr

I've never heard anyone say they thought this was The Beatles. If anyone knows anything about The Beatles, they'd know that they're four guys. Women rarely came into play for vocals.

Any Beatlemaniac would know what The Beatles' voices sound like.

  • @TalixVK There was quite a few comments on another video for this song. Don't really know why I decided to write that on this one though :L

  • This song really makes me wanna go out to Cali.

  • One of the most powerfully emotive songs of all time.

  • I heard a glipse of this song in The HiLLs have eyes 07'. when the Brother was just chiLLin' next to His traiLer. &'nnd Every since then I been tryna' find what the song was caLLed; then I recentLy heard it in Barns &'nnd NobLes &'nnd found out (:

  • Lord above Michelle Phillips was pretty. What happened to natural beauty like her instead of makeup-slogged, surgery-inflated, hair-fried girls these days? *sigh*

  • I Live In A Small Town & I Spend My Spare Time Blogging & California Dreaming ! ; )

  • I Live In A Small Town & I Spend My Spare Time Blogging & California Dreaming ! ; )

  • 20 People tried to pick up Mama Cass's sandwich and choked on it.

  • I love reading the comments, especially the kids who say they wish they were born 50 years ago. I was born in 1958 and I know I was fortunate to grow up in this era of change, music and revolution. But hey dudes, you need to feel good about your own generation and you can make a real difference today, just like we did all those years back...................

  • @brettplum AMEN, I LOVE WHEN MY KIDS AND I JAM TO THE OLDIES, MY SON LOVES ALL OLD MUSIC, HE WAS BORN 20 YEARS TOO LATE

  • @brettplum You can't really say music changed much in everything. Regardless of the philosophy back then, one good song could not, and still cannot, change the world. Rape is still on the climb, murder, death, greed and poverty is all steadily climbing, at an alarming rate. The 60's and 70's didn't change much, they just gave people a place to escape to when they needed to.

  • @ScottsTubeify By "difference" I don't think he meant it with music only.

  • Im 13, Almost 14 Years Old. The 60s And 80s To Me Were Probly The Best Years For Music. Waaaay Better Then The Crap We Have Now Days. Wish I Grew Up During That Generation!

  • Living in Boston now, and I'm missing Cali right now.

California dreamin' on such a winter's day <3

  • precioso clásico

  • Thanks for the post, which I think is the original monorural mix, with voices coming out of one speaker or the other.

  • Such beautiful harmony

  • the 60's were a weird time with great music! idk how but it was!

  • i would like to know which ARE the notes for the flute solo

  • i wished i was born 50 years ago

  • this blond girl-i dont know her name-shes beautiful-for born in the 60s ;D JOKE- shes really beautiful -.-

  • @Hairclasp Michelle Phillips

  • @Hairclasp Ahh, yes, Michelle Phillips. She was a very pretty girl. I remember growing up and wishing I could look like her when I was older :) Its a shame her and John had to divorce though, they made such a cute couple :/
