thanks. i am going to buy one of these today and your video was most helpful in making my decision.great job and thanks for taking the time to make it
I know I bought a 2011 7series 3 months ago but exactly today. I bought 2003 7 series but white. It was an offer I couldn't turn down. I bought at an Estate auction for next to like nothing. ($10.00) that's like nothing for a BMW 7 series from 2003.
Maybe a bit weird, but the 745 from 2003 is my favorite BMW from the 7-series. I think it's way better looking then the newer 7-series (although they're awesome too!) from inside and out: for example the LED's in the trunk and the modest front two air vents. Absolutely brilliant car!
I love BMWs I bought one brand new totally loaded just 4 weeks ago and it's the most epic vehicle very comfortable good for those long drives from home in Hamilton Ontario to Everett Washington to my once every 2 months engineering test at the boeing plant. Its more comfortable than my 2010 Toyota prius which I have been driving there and back for a week every 2 months. The prius is being used for ehat it should be used for. City driving and to get to university across town during day and to
I'm not sure it's accurate to say it had a 'power trunk.' It has a trunk button but I think the 745i had remote deck lid release and a rear trunk button, but unless it came with the additional convenience package, it did not have soft close doors or a hydraulic deck lid.
I love this car a lot. I'm 6'7" and I feel like a captain on a ship. But to be honest the resale value is horrible. Back in the day it was 77,000 dollars now you can pick one up for 12,000.
@SANDMAN32191 Wow all day I have been looking for a review of this car from a tall mans perspective because im 6'4 and I was wondering if I should get this car, So you love it huh? How's getting in and out is it too low or good enough?
This is too much car for me personally. I like the 3 and 5 series better. My cousins husband has one, I went to their house for thanksgiving and saw his light-green 7series in the drive way and was not impress. But I like the way the 2011 looks
@VhUgGz I'd get the Phaeton. It's got lots of features and it's not as complicated to figure out. Also, if somebody asks you what you have you can say "it's a Volkswagen!" If you said "Oh a BMW" people will think your ridiculous.
I had a 04 745Li and it was a nice car but it's TOO complicated, I now drive an S class and like it alot better, it's a bit smoother and has all the gear as this pretty much, but it's easier to do it all!
@braydenmartindale Thanks! I liked the A8 and the 745Li and the S Class, but the problems with the S-Class were that people said there were reliability issues and that was the worst generation of the S-Class, and the A8 just seemed chunky and kinda ugly. The inside was nice, but it didn't feel as premium as the others. The 745Li's exterior (mainly the front) was kinda bulgy, the interior was also kinda bulgy, but it did have good fuel economy. Overall I love everything on the Phaeton.
@VhUgGz I don't know about the older generation S class but the current gen has treated me well. I am a car enthusiast so I like to switch it up every once in awhile, I won't keep this car for anymore than 2 years if that.
Cadillac's are a good option too, not as much tech but VERY good value(because American cars depreciate so much) for everything you get.
@braydenmartindale I know the current S Class is an AMAZING car. I LOVE it. But in a few years when i'm buying a car, it's simply too much. I really don't like American cars, including Cadillac's. Also, what Trim Level S Class, what year? And how much do you expect on selling it for in around 2 years? Just wondering.
@VhUgGz It's a 2007 S550 A year and a half ago I paid with taxes and fees and all that it came to around $52,000 Canadian. I love the car, but something about it just doesn't feel right to me. I think I could sell for $40,000ish
Normally; I'd be te first to say all American cars are absolutely horrid and you'd be stupid to ever pay money for one, however with Cadillac it's a little different. I owned an 07 CTS and it doesn't feel like an American car, yet you get alot of value for you're money!
@braydenmartindale True... I still just want to stay away. If I were to get an American car, it would be a 2008 Cadillac CTS or I kind of like some of the newer Lincoln's... I didn't know you were Canadian... haha... but anyway i'm kinda considering a 2004 or a 2008 Volvo S40 as my first car... Mostly because they are one of the few car that has luxury options (leather, heated seats, automatic climate control, sunroof, etc.) but also has a low insurance cost. What was your first car?
@VhUgGz My first car was an 2001 Chrysler 300m. For how cheap the thing was it was a decent car! A Volvo is a brilliant choice! Very nice car with lots of nice options and as you said, low insurance cost!
My mom drives a 2007 Volvo XC90 that I actually picked out for her, I can vouch every Volvo I've ever seen is very comfortable, has lots of nice extras and will last very long! She quite likes the car, and with the safety features of newer Volvo's they are all cheap insurance for a premium car
@braydenmartindale Cool! I didn't know how young you are. Wow. Well anyway I do like Volvo's (I'm even a 4th Swedish) because they have really good Scandinavian simplistic design, for a premium car the insurance is about as low as it gets, they're also very safe and they're more luxurious than an accord. But I did look it up online and of all the models Volvo makes, the XC90 is one of the cheapest, and so is the S80 which I also like. One of the highest is the C70 (obviously) and the S40.
@VhUgGz I'm 26 years young mate hahaha! Most people are shocked when they hear my age, and I drive an S-Class but as long as you keep all other costs down and keep up a good job a nice car isn't a problem (:
I also love the styling of Volvo, alot of people don't like it but I honestly love it, especially the fine details they put into their cars!! They have such low cost insurance(for a premium car anyway) because of the amazing safety features, very extraordinary vehicles!
@braydenmartindale I do like the styling of Volvo cars. It's very curvy, but not too flashy. The new S60 looks very nice. But deep down I'm a huge German car fan. Last spring break I stopped at Stuttgart, Germany (which is like 6,000 miles from where I live) and the thing I wanted to do my whole life was see the Porsche and Mercedes museums. They were totally amazing; I had never seen anything so cool. The Mercedes museum had some S Class's from when they were new. Stunning. :-D
@mquiroz90 Yes. It was. You see, the 745i was like the first of a WHOLE new generation of BMW's, so it was the first to have that key. Yes. That key is 8 years old.
my boss has a bmw 7th series 745li but i dont know what year its from , its a silver one , im going to take a picture of it soon and put it on fb ive been in it a few times when hes drove past me on my way to work he has picked me up when your in the car its sucha smooth ride its like the wheels aint even on the ground lol
your kidding me. it has a flashlight in the glovebox that apperently isnt there on this car, and the CD magazine is gone, which it is supposed to be in there.
How about you get those little things and i bet you make a bit more than you would normaly. I dont know why i bothered watching this shit when i can just go into my own garage.
wtf your trunk doesnt even open up all the way automatically, you guys suck. and maybe i missed it, but you didnt show how the doors atomaticly seal shut

I like the new techno toys incorporated with the new models, but not the body styling. I still prefer the older ones. They look more like a BMW and not a Japanese car.
These cars are fantastic value nowadays, you can get a nice 02 plate for 10 grand ish easily here in the uk, range rovers (for example) you'd have to get a knackered one for 10k and they're nothing like as nice inside! Much more sophisticated than an s class or an a8 too.
I know several people that own this exact car. This video is a great overview. But it could have been ALOT more in depth including the computer, the steering wheel buttons, and the electronic dashboard.
I currently drive a fairly new pickup, and the price on the 03' model is dropping slowly. By next year (q1) ill trade-in for one of these beauties!
Lovely car, the best color that suits this car is black w/ black &chromed lip rims and the darkest window tint possible.
i gotta say, i been on the market for a car and to get a car with all these features at the prices they are available at is outstanding. Was braining over whether to get one or not.....after these videos i am sold. will be purchasing one in the months to come.
Hey Kyle. I don't think you mentioned where the parking brake release is for this car. It's to the left of the steering wheel, small button with the letter P on it. I could not back this car out of a spot once when I worked in a shop because I didn't know how to disengage the parking brake! Crazy electronics.
@MrDustinoman It saves the layout of how the person sits in the car for 2 people.
For example; if you were a tall guy, and you had a short wife, and you both drove the car. You would just tap the button, and sit down in comfort, without messing with the chair manually every time.
our 03 745li is still a charm bought it with about 48000 miles from Houston tx, back in 2006 and drove it to ms where we live, drive to las vegas couple of times, now its has almost 90000
we had a blowout once, and we failed to locate the jack , but it was in the trunk and it was too late cause we aready called bmw roadside assistance and 50$ for a person to come out and get a jack
that knocking nise you can make out in the engine is called ROD KNOCK. the cylinder walls have worn away and the pistons are slapping back and forth inside them...
afe owning two BMWs I can tell you a couple things. they have great features...when they work right and they drive great when they are not breaking down.
buying one of these with 80K on it is asking for a nightmare in repair time/bills.
Thats not rod knock. More like valvetrain clicking. Also, the VANOS is known to go bad and make a rattling/clicking noise especially when letting off the throttle although that seemed more notorious in the previous generation BMWs like the E38/39/56. Thats preety much a given on all BMW engines.
The Straight 6 engines from BMW are the best ever, silky and tons of power despite small displacement.
My dad LOVES this car, he was going to buy a 2002 745i, it had 80,000 miles on it, but the dealer was selling it for about $20,000, this was before we bought our Avalon. Words can't even describe how much we want this car. I've always wanted to try out iDrive and xDrive.
I LOVE the 7-series. I've been in a 745i, 750li, and a new 760li, and they were all spectacular. Bank-solid build, wonderful supportive and strong leather with the smell of a beautiful leather armchair or sofa, and overall gorgeous material quality and wood. I also love the robust metal door handles.
Yeah, we also had an '01 740i with the M Appearance Package. e.g. the 18" rims, the sunshades, steering wheel, etc... but all the performance of just a regular 740i. It was black on black, when we washed it and waxed it, we went to D.C. at night, and people were staring at it when I went to get something from it. With that awesome beep, while unlocking the doors, it was amazing, we sold it though, too bad. It had 109,000 miles on it, we bought it for $11,500.

Crazy electronics.

what is 2 person memory??
MrDustinoman 1 year ago

CharlietoKind 2 years ago
5:05 I put that **** everywhere.
And I thought 745 had like automatic closing doors so you don't slam them. And the truck is automatic, that might be 2004 or Li.
prt1667 2 years ago
that knocking nise you can make out in the engine is called ROD KNOCK. the cylinder walls have worn away and the pistons are slapping back and forth inside them...
afe owning two BMWs I can tell you a couple things. they have great features...when they work right and they drive great when they are not breaking down.
buying one of these with 80K on it is asking for a nightmare in repair time/bills.
jamesjdm 2 years ago

My dad had a 01 740iL in dark green. The car was so awesome. I wish we still had it.
raejaybigpapi 2 years ago
Yeah, we also had an '01 740i with the M Appearance Package. e.g. the 18" rims, the sunshades, steering wheel, etc... but all the performance of just a regular 740i. It was black on black, when we washed it and waxed it, we went to D.C. at night, and people were staring at it when I went to get something from it. With that awesome beep, while unlocking the doors, it was amazing, we sold it though, too bad. It had 109,000 miles on it, we bought it for $11,500.
