On board of the vessel `NorthPole`, as the first mate I`ve been in PEI. It was in 1985.

We loaded potatoes and onions with destination Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Yes, they were the right years for the potatoes but I was last year on the island and understand from my friends there that the business is gone. In South America they grow them now themselves. Cheers

In 1982 on board mv Celtic we load potatoes for Pto Cabello Venezuela, was my first voyage. Boarded in Gloucester sailed to Summerside. Had a very nice time.

Ja, Jan, die tijd is nu voorbij. Maar de lobster is nog steeds goed. :-)

Klopt, denk met weemoed terug aan die tijd. Hoop ooit nog een keer terug te keren naar PEI, New Foundland en Noord Amerika. Heb daar vele reizen gemaakt op schepen van Seatrade.

Sorry, wish I had kept more. But all my videos are personally recorded and I just took the best of all of them. It has been a hobby for 51 years since I was a third mate and quite a few of them were transferred from old 8mm films. This one was done with video because in these 8 years (1984-1992)I took now and then video shots but the very cold weather often gave problems. Anyway I hope you enjoyed the short ride.
