I love Anette. All the old "fans" who dislike Nightwish now because she's in it aren't really true fans. I like the band for all it is. They're both good singers, but in their own ways, and people have to respect that.
Uhm, I believe Anette is better in Metal... I don´t know exactly why, but somehow her voice doesn´t suite with Hard Rock (or whatever this should be... sounds like something from the 80´s).

I'm normally quick to point out Anette's flaws but she actually sounds good here. Her voice is better suited for this type of music. However, I will admit that it would be impossible for anyone to have a good shot at replacing Tarja in Nightwish. That said, she should go back to this type of music.

And then she went to an audition with nw and she obviously did good.. Even so, 10 months ago there were plans she was gonna go back and sing in AA again. And at the same time in NW, but anettes manager didn't aprove and wanted it different so AA said no thanks and found themselves a new singer..

I didn't even know who NW was till 2007, but within a few hours it was pretty clear by checking the older songs versus the new ones who the better singer was.
After seeing some of the live NW performances in 2007 on YouTube, and comparing to the old, it was like holy shit, WTF were they thinking...
So no, it's not a matter of not giving her a shot, I tried to see anything good in her voice compared to Tarja, but not only couldn't find it, but was really shocked that so was so bad live.
Er, how the fuck can you say Anette is great live? She sounds like a bad karaoke singer most of the time, can't stay in tempo or in tune, and really doesn't have that great of a voice tone wise even IF she could stay in tune and keep up with the tempo of the song.
She sounds pretty good with Alyson Avenue, and her appearance with Pain wasn't bad, as that is more of her style of singing and genre of music.
But NW is NOT her style of music and she doesn't fit with it.

Thing is, she would have never made it with an original band that was just starting out, she's not that good, and IS really bad in live performances, at least when performing with Nightwish.

I've seen plenty of videos of her sounding just as good live as Tarja, especially 2008 and later when she started getting better at the older songs.

Alyson Avenue is only popular these days because their former vocalist joined Nightwish. Tarot was popular way before Nightwish was even around, and Marco was a legend in Finland well before Tuomas. If you think Anette on her best day she sounds even 1/100th as good as Tarja sounded on her worst, you must be tone deaf. Tarja, even though she mostly sang the songs in a classical style, rocked them to eternity. Anette couldn't rock if she practiced every day for the rest of her life.
Tuomas on his own is not as good as he was with Tarja. He's been in other bands, and has other projects going on, but they never became as famous as Nightwish became. The combination of him and her, along with Emppu's guitar arrangements, and Jukka's percussion, are what made Nightwish what it was.
It's like trying to say Paul McCartney could have done as well without John Lennon as he did with him.

Nightwish with Tarja was an epic band that would sound better live than on the CD.
Nightwish with Anette is a so-so band on CD, and really suck live, where they sound more like an amateur nightclub cover band TRYNG to play like a real band.
A band is only as good as their weakest member, but if the vocalist is off, the entire band sounds worse than if the guitar player or bass player were a bit off.

As far as DPP, it isnt' THAT bad of an album, but Once is a masterpiece, DPP is just a so-so album compared to it. Century Child is also a great album, but I think I prefer Once.

on dvd's like end of an era audio HAS TO be edited, for a better sound, which includes vocals too.
The audio from a live concert comes from the sound board and various mics throughout the arena for crowd sounds and applause. The sound is edited for acoustics, and inserted into a master file to be in sync with the video.
I said it because some vocal parts were removed, like in haa haaa.... parts of dark chest of wonders. I don't know :) Watch a lower quality video and see..
There is no break in the audio on End of an Era, except for a promo video here on YouTube produced by NuclearBlast where it's an abbrieviated version of Nemo from End of an Era. The full version is here as well, and does not contain any mistakes by the band (including Tarja).
Audio edits are noticable in that the pace and/or tempo of the song changes noticably and unnaturally. There are no changes or missing pieces in the actual DVD or videos taken from that DVD.
If the audio had edits, that would have been edited out as it's a slight problem with the dynamic range of the microphone and it's equalization settings. Tarja hit the write notes and sang it well, but the audio was a bit high on her mic.
As far as Tarja's classical vocals, she wasn't trying to sing opera, she was singing metal songs with a classical style. She is far better than anyone else attempting the same thing, including much touted Floor Jansen, who relies on falsetto to achieve a classical voice.

I don't know. I heard Van Canto's Wishmaster. And Wishmaster is the hardest songs that you listed below. Their singer is pretty great. I liked her accent (not annoying) and she has a great soft voice that i liked. I saw wishmaster with tarja too, but she was just failing.. (Vibrato that ruins the song, And she can't reach the high notes easily, Van Canto's singer can) Not a opera singer but a lyrical soprano must be able to sing them :)

Yes i heard tuomas while talking about it in an interview. Said that reach would be more like a bonus track, but when they recorded the song with anette, they were like "wow". And they decided to make it their first single. But he also said that he still doesn't like the song, because it doesn't make the "trick" on him :)
And about anette, she was very good at her first gig. But for after that her voice got weaker. Her performances until exit 2008 are pretty bad. With 2009, She improved a lot and she sounds great at hartwall concert.
They also chose her for her personality. There aren't too many people who can carry the weight of to be singer in a band which is known by the world. Tarja had enough time with the bad. :) But Anette didn't have that much time.

Let's see, From Wishes to Eternity was filmed in 2001, and is excellent. Prior to that, there was the Oceanborn tour, and here's a song from it, recorded live by a fan in Italy back in 1999. The audio isn't the best, but Tarja's voice shines through regardless...

The BAND became great because of the COMBINATION of talent. HOWEVER, removing a band's voice is like removing any other creative force that made that band great. It's like Queen without Freddy Mercury, the Beatles without John Lennon, or Black Sabbath without Ozzy Osborne, or Aerosmith with Steve Tyler.
A human voice can rarely if ever be replaced, with a rare exception here and there such as AC/DC replacing Bon Scott with Brian Johnson.
BTW, all Tuomas does is come up with the original idea for the song along with the orchestral arrangements and lyrics. Emppu writes the guitar arrangements, Jukka the percussion patterns, Marco the bass lines (although it's largely already written in the orchestral arrangment), and Tarja would develop the vocals and delivery on her own.

In fact, I'd say Tuomas would still be writing folk music if it hadn't been for Tarja and Emppu, and would largely still be unknown to anyone outside of Finland.
Tuomas originally conceived of the band as performing Finnish folk music (or campfire music in his own words). The original demo songs were of that nature, where it was just Toumas, Tarja, and Emppu (who played an acoustic guitar).
Tuomas has said in interviews that he later changed to a metal style to better accomodate Tarja's powerful vocals.
Anyway... It's pretty pointless to talk what happened. But of course the classical who had the powerful voice could be somebody different than tarja :) (I don't know maybe someone who had a better vibrato or can pronounce)
But the creativity of tuomas is can't be found easily. To create the songs in Oceanborn or Wishmaster, needs to be someone special :)
As far as chemistry, have you EVER even watched any of their past performances with Tarja? They had chemistry that is seldom and rarely achieved by a group of musicians, and THAT is what made them as great as they were.
Now they seem like a garage band that's decided to jam together to see how they sound.
ANY person who was ever into music can hear a HUGE difference in a live NW concert with Tarja and one with Anette. With Tarja the entire audience was ecstatic, with Anette the only people into the songs are drunk or stoned, the rest are bored out of their minds.
As far as not talking for two years before they fired Tarja, that's a lie. The band stopped talking to her in Dec. 2004, where they fired her in Oct. 2005. She had always tried to talk to them about things, they refused to listen.

There is not one NW performance with Anette that I'm sorry I missed, including their last one at Hartwell. She is definitely not at the same level as the rest of the band, thus dragging them down to where she's at in terms of talent and ability.
Her rendition of Ghost Love Score is uninspiring, where she might sing the notes without screwing them up so much, but she doesn't have the feeling or passion that Tarja did when she sang that song.

What it comes down to is that I certainly never would have liked NW if she was the original singer. More than likely I would have never heard of them.
Anette can't sing one single song live as well as she can sing it on the album. In the studio they can fix her voice, live they can't. She is often off pitch, off tempo, and doesn't come close to singing the songs as they were recorded.
She adds her annoying HEP HEP chant to practically every song she sings to keep the crowd interested, where Tarja never had the need to do that, she performed flawlessly and sounded more passionate live than in the studio.

I love Anette. All the old "fans" who dislike Nightwish now because she's in it aren't really true fans. I like the band for all it is. They're both good singers, but in their own ways, and people have to respect that.

Uhm, I believe Anette is better in Metal... I don´t know exactly why, but somehow her voice doesn´t suite with Hard Rock (or whatever this should be... sounds like something from the 80´s).
Just my opinion. However, Anette rocks anyway, and especially with Nightwish.

Tarja is a bit of diva, but she is a great singer, Anette is a bit softer and yes a different talent type but deserves respect... I adore both girls and can't stand all the fighting, and all the people dragging it into every page... looking down how many posts are all about nightwish? which is only a small part of her career as of yet?

I'm normally quick to point out Anette's flaws but she actually sounds good here. Her voice is better suited for this type of music. However, I will admit that it would be impossible for anyone to have a good shot at replacing Tarja in Nightwish. That said, she should go back to this type of music.

Nightwish is, in my opinion, pushing her too hard. I can only imagine what kind of stress she's going through...

TigreDOr, that's just a lie. Alyson Avenue never said they dont want to get more popular. And thats not why Anette left them, Anette felt she had more to give than she could with AA. And then she went to an audition with nw and she obviously did good.. Even so, 10 months ago there were plans she was gonna go back and sing in AA again. And at the same time in NW, but anettes manager didn't aprove and wanted it different so AA said no thanks and found themselves a new singer..

I didn't even know who NW was till 2007, but within a few hours it was pretty clear by checking the older songs versus the new ones who the better singer was.
After seeing some of the live NW performances in 2007 on YouTube, and comparing to the old, it was like holy shit, WTF were they thinking...
So no, it's not a matter of not giving her a shot, I tried to see anything good in her voice compared to Tarja, but not only couldn't find it, but was really shocked that so was so bad live.

Er, how the fuck can you say Anette is great live? She sounds like a bad karaoke singer most of the time, can't stay in tempo or in tune, and really doesn't have that great of a voice tone wise even IF she could stay in tune and keep up with the tempo of the song.
She sounds pretty good with Alyson Avenue, and her appearance with Pain wasn't bad, as that is more of her style of singing and genre of music.

Alyson Avenue is only popular these days because their former vocalist joined Nightwish. Tarot was popular way before Nightwish was even around, and Marco was a legend in Finland well before Tuomas. If you think Anette on her best day she sounds even 1/100th as good as Tarja sounded on her worst, you must be tone deaf. Tarja, even though she mostly sang the songs in a classical style, rocked them to eternity. Anette couldn't rock if she practiced every day for the rest of her life.

Tuomas on his own is not as good as he was with Tarja. He's been in other bands, and has other projects going on, but they never became as famous as Nightwish became. The combination of him and her, along with Emppu's guitar arrangements, and Jukka's percussion, are what made Nightwish what it was.
It's like trying to say Paul McCartney could have done as well without John Lennon as he did with him.

Nightwish with Tarja was an epic band that would sound better live than on the CD.
Nightwish with Anette is a so-so band on CD, and really suck live, where they sound more like an amateur nightclub cover band TRYNG to play like a real band.
A band is only as good as their weakest member, but if the vocalist is off, the entire band sounds worse than if the guitar player or bass player were a bit off.

As far as DPP, it isnt' THAT bad of an album, but Once is a masterpiece, DPP is just a so-so album compared to it. Century Child is also a great album, but I think I prefer Once.

The audio from a live concert comes from the sound board and various mics throughout the arena for crowd sounds and applause. The sound is edited for acoustics, and inserted into a master file to be in sync with the video.
They do not alter it otherwise.

There is no break in the audio on End of an Era, except for a promo video here on YouTube produced by NuclearBlast where it's an abbrieviated version of Nemo from End of an Era. The full version is here as well, and does not contain any mistakes by the band (including Tarja).
Audio edits are noticable in that the pace and/or tempo of the song changes noticably and unnaturally. There are no changes or missing pieces in the actual DVD or videos taken from that DVD.

If the audio had edits, that would have been edited out as it's a slight problem with the dynamic range of the microphone and it's equalization settings. Tarja hit the write notes and sang it well, but the audio was a bit high on her mic.

I'd like to see the average classical singer sing Wishmaster, Dark Chest of Wonders, Nemo, or any of the other songs which Tarja helped make famous.
Opera singers can sing opera, but 99% of them wouldn't be able to sing NW songs the way Tarja did.
As far as pronounciation, I'd like to see how well YOU could sing in Finnish. Tarja's speaking pronounciation is infinitely better than Anette's attempt at English.

I don't know. I heard Van Canto's Wishmaster. And Wishmaster is the hardest songs that you listed below. Their singer is pretty great. I liked her accent (not annoying) and she has a great soft voice that i liked. I saw wishmaster with tarja too, but she was just failing.. (Vibrato that ruins the song, And she can't reach the high notes easily, Van Canto's singer can) Not a opera singer but a lyrical soprano must be able to sing them :)

Yes i heard tuomas while talking about it in an interview. Said that reach would be more like a bonus track, but when they recorded the song with anette, they were like "wow". And they decided to make it their first single. But he also said that he still doesn't like the song, because it doesn't make the "trick" on him :)

And about anette, she was very good at her first gig. But for after that her voice got weaker. Her performances until exit 2008 are pretty bad. With 2009, She improved a lot and she sounds great at hartwall concert.
They also chose her for her personality. There aren't too many people who can carry the weight of to be singer in a band which is known by the world. Tarja had enough time with the bad. :) But Anette didn't have that much time.

Again, Tarja wasn't trying to put on a "classical performance", ie. OPERA. She was singing metal songs with her unique classical style voice applied to metal music, and was a pioneer in doing so.
As far as hate, the only things I hate are Anette's voice, Tuomas's cowardly treatment of Tarja, and Anette fanboys who DO hate Tarja because of some bullshit rumors and deceptive statements made about her by those she once called her bandmates.

For me, she doesn't have to hit the high notes. It doesn't effect the song in a bad way.
In that video, Emotion is pretty good and she doesn't do the things that she did at 2007 :)

Tuomas said that they didn't even speak for 2 years in the band with tarja. And they were just being professionals who act on the stage. Tarja was just a singer and Nightwish doesn't need a singer that effects them negative :)
I guess only thing that you can feel as a chemistry is to see BIG people who you can respect and adore. I never liked the people who tries to be BIG.. And they are never big for me. With anette they look pretty happy :) .

Tarjas was JUST a singer? Well then I guess Tuomas is JUST a keyboard player, Jukka is JUST a drummer, Emppu is JUST a guitar player, and Marco is JUST a bass player.
As far as happy, oh yeah, they all get drunk together now with Anette and who knows what else they do. I could give a shit if they party together or not, I care what they sound like, and now they sound like shit.

At 2007 Anette was looking much more different than the other members, but she controls herself NOW :)
It's so stupid. Yes i'm right, tarja was just a singer.
Emppu is just a guitar player, Marco is Male vocalist and a bass player, Jukka is just a drummer.
But Tuomas isn't just a keyboard player. He is a creative composer that composes/edits Nightwish's songs. And the only person who made tarja an icon and overrated classical singer :)

The BAND became great because of the COMBINATION of talent. HOWEVER, removing a band's voice is like removing any other creative force that made that band great. It's like Queen without Freddy Mercury, the Beatles without John Lennon, or Black Sabbath without Ozzy Osborne, or Aerosmith with Steve Tyler.
A human voice can rarely if ever be replaced, with a rare exception here and there such as AC/DC replacing Bon Scott with Brian Johnson.

BTW, all Tuomas does is come up with the original idea for the song along with the orchestral arrangements and lyrics. Emppu writes the guitar arrangements, Jukka the percussion patterns, Marco the bass lines (although it's largely already written in the orchestral arrangment), and Tarja would develop the vocals and delivery on her own.

omg no. It's the most funny thing you've ever said. Stop fooling yourself. Creating melodies needs to feel the things.. They aren't creatures who can feel the same things. So, songs can be composed by one person. And that person is Tuomas. :) And then instruments were just played by the band.

In fact, I'd say Tuomas would still be writing folk music if it hadn't been for Tarja and Emppu, and would largely still be unknown to anyone outside of Finland.

Tuomas originally conceived of the band as performing Finnish folk music (or campfire music in his own words). The original demo songs were of that nature, where it was just Toumas, Tarja, and Emppu (who played an acoustic guitar).
Tuomas has said in interviews that he later changed to a metal style to better accomodate Tarja's powerful vocals.

Anyway... It's pretty pointless to talk what happened. But of course the classical who had the powerful voice could be somebody different than tarja :) (I don't know maybe someone who had a better vibrato or can pronounce)
But the creativity of tuomas is can't be found easily. To create the songs in Oceanborn or Wishmaster, needs to be someone special :)

As far as chemistry, have you EVER even watched any of their past performances with Tarja? They had chemistry that is seldom and rarely achieved by a group of musicians, and THAT is what made them as great as they were.
Now they seem like a garage band that's decided to jam together to see how they sound.

ANY person who was ever into music can hear a HUGE difference in a live NW concert with Tarja and one with Anette. With Tarja the entire audience was ecstatic, with Anette the only people into the songs are drunk or stoned, the rest are bored out of their minds.

As far as not talking for two years before they fired Tarja, that's a lie. The band stopped talking to her in Dec. 2004, where they fired her in Oct. 2005. She had always tried to talk to them about things, they refused to listen.

There is not one NW performance with Anette that I'm sorry I missed, including their last one at Hartwell. She is definitely not at the same level as the rest of the band, thus dragging them down to where she's at in terms of talent and ability.
Her rendition of Ghost Love Score is uninspiring, where she might sing the notes without screwing them up so much, but she doesn't have the feeling or passion that Tarja did when she sang that song.

Anette can't sing one single song live as well as she can sing it on the album. In the studio they can fix her voice, live they can't. She is often off pitch, off tempo, and doesn't come close to singing the songs as they were recorded.
She adds her annoying HEP HEP chant to practically every song she sings to keep the crowd interested, where Tarja never had the need to do that, she performed flawlessly and sounded more passionate live than in the studio.
