Of course Rush, Traffic, King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, Camel, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Genesis. :-) There are more Prog Rock Bands, all of them are simply the best of the genre.
great find here, very underrated album, solid from start to finish. probably my fav. track on this album. wow Jon Anderson sure does have an amazing voice and wish Trevor Rabin just rocks at writing and playing. Thanks for the video
Trevor Rabin (the guitarist) has been making movie soundtracks since 1995 when he left the band and was replaced by the Yes seventies guitarist Steve Howe. Tony Kaye, the keyboardist, is running a restaurant. Yes as band is still as active as ever doing an american tour, unfortunately with another singer than Jon which had some problems with the health.
I agree, they are different, but I dont think that music of Pink Floyd is going ever to die...not for at several generation a front of us I can imagine. They all are going to love Pinks...and Yes as well for that matter. Although I can also imagine, that if music ,and art in general, will continue in the trend as it is now, the real comprehension of values and beauty will fade out
What about Squire being a better bass player than Waters, White or Bruford a way much better drummers than Mason, Wakeman, Moraz or Kaye 100 times better keyboard players than Wright. And Howe is in the same league than Gilmore. I like Pink Floyd too, but really...!!
i never mentioned waters, mason or wright or barrett for that matter. only gilmore. and the floyd produced much better music. the wall, dark side of the moon, animals, wish you were here, etc. of course, this is just my opinion. obviously, you have strong opinions as well. i don't believe i will change your opinion and i know you will not change mine.
I think when acts get to a level of excellence reached by both Pink Floyd and YES, you can't compare them against anymore. They are good in their own style, which makes it impossible to even create standards for a comparisson, unless you go to the man against man type, in which I honestly think that YES are superior. Peace.
This song resonates with me now more than it did when it was initially popular. Ahead of its time in its message. They were singing about Truth in an age of hair metal superficiality. I feel Jon singing to the world "YOU HAVE THE POWER" - it becomes a mantra and a message to anyone who will listen. It's so easy...
I love the way Jon improvises on the lyrics at the end "..When you are lost and lonely...you have the power (etc.)" Yes'music is an incredible antidepressant if you think about it. The images with (the drinking of) water symbolize also (I feel) taking the plunge, drinking the cup to take the riscs in your life, renewal. Very beautiful!
It's an ECO song,it just remind us that we will never control or "manage" nature and with all tecnology and science available today,we can not produce what earth provide to us for FREE.
There is a lot of deep, allegorical symbolism with the water. Water is a precious necessity of life, yet it is taken for granted, wasted, and even poisoned - even if not intentionally.
Water is synonomous with life itself, and we must be thankful for it. In my opinion, the song paints a picture of the psychological connection between the pure, lifegiving water that God gifted to us in the Earth, and the need for us to purify ourselves by loving ourselves, each other and the natural world.

"Yes" is on a whole other spiritual plane than Pink Floyd. "Yes" is one of the few Immortal bands.

I'm glad their music didn't suffer then. I can't say the same for their hair though, why were the 80s so cruel to 70s musicians?
