  • Too bad you don't have Turbo Tape.

  • hi,

Can you explain me how to do the opposite? Tapes to .TAP?

    Thanks

  • One reason why it keeps glitching is because

    It's a pal game

  • did you remember to turn NR off? The C64 does not understand what NR is.

  • @jjovereats Haha. This was a long time ago. I don't remember.

  • what kind of cable did you use to link the pc and tape recorder, also where do you put each jack?

  • I cant find the AudioTap program anyone have a link?

  • @Shiqna1 meh, I made this a while ago. I didn't know much about c64s or how to make a good youtube video. And to the TV remark, this was just after I had gotten it, so I only had the TV and no monitor/cable to connect to the monitor.

  • Question: what kind of audiotape you prefer? (brand-type)

  • @bbankrablo Maxell is quite good... Ask some people what type of tape they think sounds the best. It needs to reproduce the highs, mids, and lows equally accurately. Just look around. Ask the geeks at radioshack or something.

  • @self And just use Linux and Wine.

  • @16mmDJ @DyLucke Use a Cooper 393-7.

  • It's the VIC-II. It's plastic, and glitches out A LOT. OK?

  • @jjovereats OK.

  • @16mmDJ The game probably burned correctly.

  • And what's with the RCA cable? LOL... I have successfully burned over 300 games.

  • I have a secret, use WAV file you tosspot and don't use a tape deck from 1964.

  • @DJAvailableOttawa09 Who's the tosspot? And check my update videos. You may actually see an example of the thing working you doink.

  • @ZnaxQue Thanks!

  • Sorry to say this 16mmDJ, but this method doesn't work at all. I've tried it like a zillion of times, back in time, and nowadays. The signal used for the C64 tape port is semi-digital. It has a threshold level that must match the signal itself.

I don't know what kind of recorder are you using, but this method will fail on 99% of the cases. Back in time i did it like you using a double deck cassete to copy tapes, but i was able to read them on my C64 since i didn't have a C2N C= datasette.

  • @DyLucke Keep watching this channel. At some point this weekend, I plan to have up a video of me doing this correctly. So far I have 1942, The Impossible Mission, Leaderboard, The Rocky Horror Show and Klax working off of one cassette using this method. The trick is getting the main part of the signal as close to 0dB as possible.

I should really delete some of these old videos. They're kinda outdated.

  • @DyLucke See my latest video NOW :B

  • @16mmDJ the problem is now i'm Linux-only (Ubuntu) user (without plans of going back using Windows, i were tired with that paranoid of all that viruses, obscurities, lobbies and dirty politics...) - do you know similar tools on Linux? (native ones, i wanted to avoid Wine for that)

  • @nitturo Yeah, I have no idea if there is a version of this for linux. One of the main reason I stay with Windows: All of the freeware. Plus I know how to avoid threats. I'm sorry, but I don't know about programs like this for linux. Might wanna ask someone who knows more about that OS and Commodores.

  • wonder you can do this on Vista.. :O

  • @nitturo Yeah, the programs work on Vista. Anything that works on XP will work on Vista and 7

  • I just tried this with Donkey Kong and it loaded but the game wouldn't go... tried it with Pole Position and it did work so you gotta try a bunch and see what you get.

  • Awesome guide mate!

Good to see other hardcore Commodore fans on youtube :)

Im guessing you've heard of the DC2N?

  • Yeah, i really want one of those.

  • Great tutorial, even if it didn't work out!
