  • show me a "so called" big guy that could back of the net, overhand dig, and either pound or hit a cut shot that blew your mind. Exactly. Guy blocked all weekend, jump served and still won. I'd make an argument he was best ever.............. ask hovland, dodd, powers or stevenson, they'd tell you...........

  • sad for those who didn't see the game when it was played under old rules. theres a reason the avp no longer exists. watch this and you'll see exactly why. sorry to say, but its reality.

  • How bout that set at 2:39. So much Skill lol

  • @Get2Wild

Yeah, I forgot about that one. That was Luyties. In the early 80's, he ran a 6-2 as the other setter along with Karch at UCLA after Sinjin left. 1991 was a good season for him. His hands definitely were good on that play because you see no complaining from Stoklos.

  • Also, Stokie's jumping backset at around :55 is just amazing. Dalhausser has great hands, but you just don't see someone with that much confidence in their hands anymore. That may be the best set I have ever seen.

  • Awesome...

Stokie, Sinjin, Hovland, Steffes, Kiraly, Johnson, Luyties, Hanley, Whitmarsh, Powers, Timmons, and Ack. I love it. I used to have this tape. ESPN Classic is showing some late 80s/early 90s events this Sunday morning starting around 7:00 am. I think they are showing around 5 old events to kick off the AVP season which starts this weekend. Thanks for posting this and the longer version.
